Faith VS. Buffy

I think Buffy defenitely went to dark places. She was occasionally very controlled by her emotions (like in "The Gift"..) but her background and the people that surrounded her was what I thought kept her from going so dark she wanted to kill everything around her. I think Buffy was the slyer that accomplished the most slayer-goodness but it wasn't all because of her, it's very doubtful that she would have if it hadn't been for her friends..

Slayer wise, Buffy is clearly better.

But person wise, Faith wins by a mile or 5! Buffy is too much of a goody-2-shoes and annoyed me more times then impressed me. Faith could be my best friend! (except, she'd try to pressure me into killing. Which I don't pull off!) Even durring season 3, she reminded me so much of my friends ie when the mayor had to eat those spider things Faith smiels and says "You're wicked gross" that was so much like my best friend it scared me! And she'd be so fun to party with. LoL. ::evil2::

I believe that both Slayers have excellent qualities and room for improvement.

I have always tended to like the character of Buffy more, but I respect the character of Faith a lot. She always had a rought time, and it was clearly shown that at the end of season seven, she was definitely changed and reformed. The fact that she chose jail on AtS really showed a lot of potential for her character.

I think that they are both amazing fighters, and they are passionate in different ways about their jobs.

I think it would be more interesting to pit all THREE slayers against each other! Has everyone forgotten about Kendra? I know she was killed early on, but as a slayer, I LOVED her! I thought she was more like Buffy than she realised, and took her slaying responsibilities the most seriously out of the three of them. Obviously because she was killed so suddenly, Buffy has the edge, but then again Buffy died in Season one too, so I think they were maybe both about the same level of training. As far as Faith goes, I think that just because she was another slayer in S3 and 4 who was the complete opposite of Buffy, it doesn't make her automatically "cool". As far as Buffy threatening to kill her because of Angel, I don't think that argument can really be used, considering Buffy thought Faith was going to kill HER! She only said that in self-defense! (And was right to do so!) I also don't think Buffy was a "goody two shoes" at all! She had a one-night stand, got drunk a lot, had a VERY passionate affair with Spike, lied to her friends and family about it, had a lotof secrets in her closet, and wanted to die. I also don't know what's up with all these comments about people saying they "hate Buffy"? I mean, Buffy is after all, the start of the show! If people hated her so much why watch it? (And also there would be no Faith without Buffy to start with!)

I don't think there was anything cool about Faith and definetly not that she was a better slayer. (At least not in terms of being an equal and respected slayer until Season 7) I think Buffy was the best Slayer, then Kendra, then Faith. But Faith was excellent in the final episodes. :hmm:

Faith is an anti-hero, she's flawed and dark and quite tragic if you really think about it. Yes she's done some horrible things, but she's been through a lot too. We don't know exactly what her life was like in Boston and we probably never will. Buffy already had the circle of friends, the great boyfriend and watcher, and ultimately Faith was jealous that Buffy had all that. She's always been jealous of Buffy, and that jealousy had driven her. Imagine if the roles were reversed, if Faith had the mom, and the friends and everyone to back her up and Buffy had nothing. I think both of them would turn out vastly different. I can't say who the better slayer is, but I personally like Faith because she seems much more real. And I agree, Buffy has had some really dark moments and even though they weren't as extreme as Faiths I don't think they can be written off as nothing. She's been to some dark places too, and she never really apologized for putting Faith in a coma, I don't even think she cared that much about what she did to her. Faith however, wanted to repent with the help of Angel and she actually went to prison to start paying for her crimes, crimes she will have to live with forever, and it will eat away at her everyday. It's such a shame that the show didn't last longer so we could see Faith's struggle more. Buffy is a champion, and Faith is a girl who happens to be a slayer. She's seen and done horrible things in her life, and now she has to live with/attone for them.

Well, there's some obvious passionate arguements regarding Buffy Vs Faith and so forth, and I honestly cannot choose between them! First off, Buffy was "The Chosen One", and (with help of course) led an army of slayers in waiting and the like to victory against "The first" in the end, and not to mention saved the world numerous times. Faith was a completely different kettle of fish altogether in terms of personality and the like. She was an angry girl and we don't know anything about her upbringing, but she was a passionate person, and it showed in her slaying. and of course she came to Buffy's aid in the end, and she showed us that she had changed.
Both slayers were vastly different in personality and as human beings in general, but when it came to their duty and responsibility as slayers, they were indeed equal.

There is no doubt in my mind. Faith is way better!!! I don't really like Buffy, she's kind of whiny. Buffy is also really mean and depressing in season's 5, 6, and 7. But Faith is strong and knows what she wants. I think that if the scoobies had been nicer to her, and not seen her as second best slayer, she wouldn't have gone evil.

No matter what you think the scoobies did to her, Faith chose that path for herself. Buffy opened up her home and friends to her, but I guess it was Faith who just was not comfortable being around Buffy. Yes, at first Buffy was a bit hostile towards her, but that quickly changed. Faith was always envious of what Buffy was, what she had, and how good of a slayer she was. Faith never attained the level of strength or skill that Buffy had.

Both beautiful, brilliant Girls But I would have to say...Buffy! Only she suits better as a goody as Faith suits better as a villian!

I don't know why everyone keeps implying that Faith was weaker, or a worse fighter? I seem to recall that whenever Buffy and Faith duked it out, Faith either had a death wish, (aka letting Buffy stab her and saying "you did it B, you killed me" just as ONE example) or she was going easy because she was going to be in Buffy's body, or, she had an emotional meltdown, or she was interrupted by a third party trying to kill them both (Gwendolyn Post). There was always a motive with Faith, I don't remember her ever just fighting with Buffy, she always had a goal, and though her plans didn't work out most of the time, she never, that I recall, lost to Buffy outright.
It always took some major mental or emotional flip for Faith to lose to Buffy. I'd have to re-watch all of the Faith episodes to be sure, and correct me if I'm wrong please, but like I said, I just don't see where anywhere in the show it was obvious that Faith was somehow a substandard fighter. Plus I don't recall Faith ever actually wanting to kill Buffy. Hurt yes, but not kill, even when she was listening to the Mayor. She was going for the hurt, trying to show Buffy how it felt to be her, how Buffy made her feel. It was obvious that when Faith felt emotional pain she could only express it through physical pain, or violence.

Anyways I always thought Buffy got way to much credit for everything she did. Yes she lost her mother, it was terribly sad, I always liked Joyce, but Faith lost her only real mother figure, her watcher, to a vampire early on. Faith didn't have anyone else when her watcher was taken, Buffy had her friends, Giles, and her sister, and Spike, and Angel. Yet Faith is expected to just get over it, and move on, but Buffy gets to milk it for the rest of the show. Not that I dislike Buffy, I just see Buffy's scarifies blown into huge proportions, and Faiths scarifies ignored. Buffy get's praised for just being alive, or around, who cares if she's doing it well, and Faith get's punished for not being perfect. It's a horrible double standard, and it's truly Faith's loss.
Not that I am excusing all of Faith behavior, because I am not. I am just saying Faith and Buffy were held to different standards.

Everyone keeps saying how faith murdered and liked it.. Are you forgetting that her first murder wasn't a murder, but an accident!?!? if Buffy hadn't instantly turned on Faith in the alley when it happened, if Buffy had thought to help Faith and not condemn her, Faith may have overcame it, turned herself in with some encouragement, and support, but instead, it was "Look what you did you psyco!" No Buffy did not actually say that, but she implied it with everything she did from the alley on. Buffy always acted like it was a murder, not an accident, saying "you killed a man!" not "it was a horrible accident, but you have to take responsibility" not to mention, Buffy wasn't offering to turn herself in with Faith, Buffy didn't acknowledge her fault in the incident at all. If Buffy had said, "lets both go in, let's do this together, it was an accident we will figure this out." I am almost positive Faith's trip to the dark side would have been avoided. There may have been some jealousy issues to be dealt with later, but nothing that would have pushed Faith over the edge like that.
These are just opinions though, and I like I said, I don't hate Buffy or anything, I just see Faith as a more tragic figure, and Buffy as a more overrated figure.

yep totally i agree
I love them both, but it's Buffy. She (to me) has a better perosnality, more enjoyable qualities, and better characteristics. I just prefer her.

Buffy is very skilled. I know that if Faith trained as much as Buffy it would be a great fight, but I think Buffy would still win, because....she is very smart. If you watch the show, you know, she is always right, because she thinks...she would win. I also like the character better, not because Faith is bad either, cause bad can be good. I just like Buffy. Anyways...Yay Faith we love you, but Buffy!

I don't think Buffy's always right, even when she thinks. Just look at her in season 6. There you've got one non-thinking, crazy-doing Buffy. Or you see that in all seasons really, she's balanced by her watcher and her friends.

Faith didn't have that. Easy to do the math. Or one could just watch "the wish" and see it for oneself.

Even though I love Faithy,I would have to say Buffy.Even though she does have some bad qualities, she is still a better slayer.I mean she has been doing it ever since she was 14 or 15 and she has a lot of experience.

Let's hold on right there. Not only lost her mother, she sacrificed Angel and herself to save the world and she had to move on, keep on goin' with her life. Buffy's not perfect either, but at least she tried to do the right thing.

I never really liked Faith, not at all, but I do think that it wasn't all of her fault for making those mistakes, and that justification of "Buffy having the friends, the watcher and the boyfriend" is not fair because she offered her friendship to Faith. I don't think Buffy considered herself perfect, but she had a dutty to protect the world. Faith only assumed that role up until the end.

It was an accident, and probably she didn't approached Faith very well, but at leats she did tried to help her. LOTS.

Buffy always acted like it was a murder, not an accident, saying "you killed a man!" not "it was a horrible accident, but you have to take responsibility" not to mention, Buffy wasn't offering to turn herself in with Faith, Buffy didn't acknowledge her fault in the incident at all. It wasn't Buffy's fault, if I still recall it well, Faith's response was "You don't get it. I don't care!". Why did she shut herself from help? Maybe she was scared, whatever. But that trip to the dark side could have been avoided if she also put a little bit of her part. She only did it after a few murdering attempts.

I'll go with Buffy 100%

Buffy is a special person. Dawn wasn't a real human. And who loved her anyway? Buffy(mom too). She never fit in, and Buffy didn't care. Do you see how loving she is?

Buffy.

I think that Faith is better than Buffy. I think that she's a better fighter and a better person. I know that most people won't agree with either of those things, but it's just my opinion. Anyways, I don't like Buffy, for many reasons that don't need to be listed here. Faith wins for me, no question about it.
