Which slayer is better? You can have your say!Do you like Faith better, or Buffy? The majority wins!I have to say I think Faith is cool, and all.But I like Buffy better, even though there are times when I hate Buffy, for example season 6.My answer would have to be Buffy.

Aside from Faith being a total psycho, I like Faith. But I like Buffy more.

Faith is strong, but she doesn't know how to fight properly. There may have been some training, but it just appears that shes not as gymnastic or agile or knows different forms of martial arts. Although emotion can be a strong tool for a slayer, Faith takes it way too far and it really would cost her in a fight.

Buffy keeps her head calm most of the time and we see her best fighting when shes emotional. She might not be an expert at a distinct form of martial art, but she knows moves from various fighting methods that gives her an edge. Shes amazing strong(the strongest out of the slayers, to me that is) and she fights in a stunning way. She is witty and actually thinks of clever ways to take out a bad guy. All the other slayers we've seen have lacked her imagination. Plus we've saw Buffy easily take out baddies that have crushed Faith, not mentioning that Buffy totally plummeled Faith a couple of times(more so than Faith did to her) and did anybody notice how after the fight in the mansion with Gyndelown Post, that Buffy wasn't bruised, but Faith was?

Faith is cooler, but Buffy is a better slayer. Anyways,I'll go with Faith,I so prefer her, don't care if Buffy can kick ass better than her,Faith rules😀

i like them both, but im gonna have to side with Buffy.

She seems to be more realistic and nice, whereas Faith is all about "the kill"

And i just plain like Buffy alittle bit more than Faith.

I always have to go with Buffy on this...Buffy was the better slayer...Faith could fight, but Buffy would be able to be logical and see the way to beat her in the end...

Buffys my choice. I liked Faith as a villain, but as slayers go I'd have to say Buffy. :lsvader:

Faith is totaly the best. Hot, strong, wears black, wears leather! Need I say more? Shes just over all better. Shes been good, then evil, then good. She justs rocks!

Wicked
so totally agree

My answer for this question would definitely be Buffy. To come up with this I tried to think about all of the attributes of a slayer; strength, will, power, motive.... This list goes on.

When Faith fights, she does it in order to feel powerful, that's her only motivation. It's all she has, the only thing she can control, and not always. Things have never gone her way in life, but by kicking butt, she can, at least for a while, feel like she's in control of things, feel powerful. This can sometimes be an asset, making her less hesitant and sometimes more determined, but it can also be her downfall. The determination doesn't come from the right place, she has no real moral compas to guide her, only her need for power. Powerful, yes, but also volatile and not grounded. There is no guarantee that she'll do the right thing... Only the powerful thing.

For Buffy, there are other motivations and reasons behind the fighting. She doesn't fight because it makes her powerful or because she's the slayer. She fights because she IS powerful and has the ability to change things in the world. It's what a person does in this world that defines them, and for an able person to do nothing is to be irresponsible and apart from humanity. Humanity is what grounds Buffy. Her friend and family, while unusual for a slayer, are what connect her to the world and give her motivations and purpose. Without ties, loves and reponsibilities, all a person has is themself, and without the things in life that defines one's self, that's not much.

This is why I think that Buffy is the better slayer. In the end, she's not just fighting for herself, but for connections to the world. She has a much more inspiring, and I feel more powerful, motivation. Plus, she's a little more stable, but hey....

Also, excuse the random, fragmented thoughts, it's late and I'm all jittery and caffinated.

Slayer wise? Buffy. But I like Faith more. With training Faith might be better, I'm not sure, but I do like Faith a lot more than Buffy. Buff's a bit too proper at times. Then again so am I, but I don't want to be. *shrugs*

I'm more of a Buffy fan than Faith. I did like Faith in the beginning of S3 and in S7, and Angel but overall Buffy's the better slayer.

I think Faith is better than Buffy. She is just so different from what a slayer should be. She's dark and dangerous, with a vulnerable side. Her fighting style is very street wise...not to mention I love the scorpion kick that she always does! She has a kick ass attitude and loves to walk on the wild side. Compared to Faith Buffy seems kind of boring!

I like Buffy the bset in the early seasons, but Faith is by far the best after "Soulless". She has a lot of the ballance and inner strengeth that Buffy had, but seems more connected to hte world around her. Buffy cuts herself off completely after being brought back, whereas Faith comes back to the fold with a newfound understanding of her mission and her abilities.

As a character, Faith. S7 Buffy is completely unable to treat anybody as anything other than Rival, Lover or Flunkie. Faith is a fascinating character who genuinely doesn't understand how to interact with people healthily, but desperately wants to. She's a character who ranted about gettin' some and gettin' gone, murdered at least two people in cold blood, held a knife to S3 pre-confidence-injection Willow's throat, and condemned Angel to a slow painful (and inexplicably feverish...wtf?) death, but who's most treasured fantasy turned out to be a picnic with the Mayor.

As heroines on the other hand, I consider them as very different, but equal. Buffy gets the luxury of depending on her friends, but can operate without them. At the end of the day, she's gone to the very limits, both for the people she cares about and for total strangers, and hey, kudos for saving the world so much. She represents a heroine who finds a way to make the right decision no matter what it costs her, and it's cost her an awful lot. Faith, on the other hand, didn't have Buffy's comfy support system. She had none of the confidence, chirpiness or popularity Buffy has enjoyed from time to time, and she may have had a profoundly unhealthy childhood. She is, again, a murderer, and though its tempting to blame it all on her background, despite whatever influences shaped her she freely chose to kill people. What makes her a heroine, and at least Buffy's equal, is that she also freely chose to come back. From a very long way beneath rock bottom, and largely by herself, she chose to try and make things right for absolutely no reward. No Shanshu prophecies, no presidential pardon, no sudden acceptance from anybody. And that's why she rocks: She's the patron heroine for everybody who's ever made a crap decision, or even lots of crap decisions, and had to face it, willingly or otherwise. And who hasn't?

Excellent points!!
Those are really good points, Jill and I completely agree with you, except for the part about Buffy's support system.

I think Faith is the better slayer, she has more depth than Buffy and she has gone throught, what I consider, more difficult challenges than Buffy. I know Buffy had to sacrifice Angel but that was for the great good and she over come that. Faith killed a human and got a taste for evil. There was no justifyable reason for that, but she over came it.

To give Buffy her credit though, I see her friends more as a burden than a support group. There a constant reminder of what she will never have and can never be. But she gives everything to be with them. I know Faith envies Buffy her friends, but were Faith is lonely with no one, Buffy is lonely with people around her. I think that constant reminder takes a lot to live with and shows how stong Buffy can be.

I consider Buffy's friends her strength rather than her burden, by a long shot. I'm actually a reformed Buffy hater. I really, really like Faith. To me she's by far the most interesting character to emerge from Buffy, the sole reason I watched S7, and Buffy's treatment of her was absolutely appalling. I was incredibly disappointed that even at the very end, Buffy wasn't able to rise above it all and say "Faith, I'm kinda sorry too. And yeah, apology accepted." because I wanted to like Buffy again. Since Faith and Buffy "Ego with its own orbit" Summers both consider her to be Faith's biggest victim (Buffy seems to consider herself even more sinned against than Lester Worth....) she's the only person that can ever absolve Faith of the massive burden of guilt she's hauling around. And she never did that. Would have taken all of two sentences to finally put it all behind them both. But no. S7 Buffy was mean, petty, and unable to take constructive criticism in any form. Spike's got your back? Bull. He's sucking up to you, ya tiny blond tyrant... I know what they were trying to achieve by making Buffy anti-heroish, but it didn't work: The whole point of Buffy was that she was a mythically heroic icon in a contemporary setting, and not the kind of person who'd repeatedly punch a reformed former enemy knowing full well Faith couldn't fight back. Sadistic as well as Masochistic, are we Ms. Summers?
(Wait... I'm trying to argue that I like Buffy when I'm finding it increasingly hard to find a single reason why.. help?)

Anyway I digress. Buffy's friends are what spurred her forward, back when she had a personality, and wasn't just a walkin' talkin' speechin' machine. They made her a hero, more than any other single influence. When she had her Gethsemane, but went up against the Master anyway, it was because of what had happened to Willow. And then Xander saved her life. Any friend that can cheat a Prophecy of DOOOOM! is a-okay by my standards. I'm firmly of the opinion that Buffy's family and friends, her link with the world, are all that staved off the ol' Slayer deathwish for so long. It was after she lost Joyce that it began creeping in. Buffy's death in The Gift, it's worth remembering, was not entirely selfless. ("The hardest thing in this world is to live in it.""I don't know how to live in the world if these are the choices") Faith lacks that link to people... she fights like she has nothing to lose, because maybe she doesn't... And since she perhaps no longer has Angel either, I can only hope Wood can get her a job in CTU or something to keep her grounded... Although if she does go murderous again, and Kim "Meet me and Die!" Bauer is in the immediate vicinity, who'd complain?

I don't think Buffy would ever be able to forgive Faith. I know there was the bedroom scene in Season 7, were they kind of came to terms with what had happened, but no forgiveness was given. Faith was the only person ever to make Buffy feel like a victim. For a woman so used to fighting evil and saving the world, to lose battles and still come out a live, Faith was probably Buffy's biggest fear. Faith had a power over Buffy that even Faith didn't realise she held. Faith represented a line for Buffy, that Buffy was unwilling to cross, but she found herself tempted to on so many occassions. Buffy envied Faith her freedom, but she was scared of her because that same darkness lived in Buffy. Not to mention Faith could match Buffy in the strength and fighting department almost perfectly.

Faith and Buffy equal each other out more than they probably realised.

Just because Buffy never uttered the word "forgive", doesn't mean that she never forgave Faith. I think she did forgive Faith for the body switching. Just as I believe that Faith forgave her for trying to kill her at the end of S3. And Faith knew that Buffy didn't make the attempt out of her duties as a Slayer, but out of revenge. But Faith forgave her. And Buffy forgave Faith. I think that bedroom scene told us more than any utterance of the word "forgive" could have told us. After all, Buffy never said that she forgave Spike for the attempted rape, and Spike never said that he forgave Buffy for using him as a sex toy. But we all know that they forgave each other.

Actions speak louder than words. I think that a lot of people don't seem to realize this.
