Faith's Last Name Revealed!

Wow! That's some shocking news. I think it's a good last name for her because it's not so dark it actually sounds like a good girl last name.
 
Eden Studios haven't confirmed that's the name yet. No word from them about the name other than to say that they have it.

Assuming that it's true though, may I be the first to do an illogical victory dance at the fact that Faith is Boston-Irish. Lehane comes from Liathan ("Grey") and is more often Anglicised as "Lyons" . Entertainingly, it comes from the Limerick area. If you know anything about Ireland, you'll know that Limerick is considered the most dangerous place in the country, and is nicknamed Stab City.

This also adds weight to IMDB's Wal_lace's theory that Faith is from a strongly Catholic background.
 
I've heard it pronounced either leh-HANN or Le-hayne, but I'd imagine it's intended to be pronounced Lehayne, because it would sort of make sense for it to rhyme with "La Haine..."
 
I kinda like it, although I was thinking they'd go for something different. Guess I was just thinking how rough she was all, that itd be something different. It's a pretty name. I know this is off-topic but has anything come out about Kendras name?
 
As someone said when it was first announced they were making up Kendra's surname Kendra herself said this:

Kendra: Oh. Dey call me Kendra. I have no last name, sir.

Plus I don't think Faith should have a surname, its more mysterioh-so without one.
 
Well... part of me did want her to remain all one-named, but since they had to name her, I'm glad it was something cool.

There was this role playing game or something. They said she hadda have a last name for her so I chose Lehane 'cause I wanted something southie, just as you thought. So if you hate the name. oops.

Speaking of OT, someone else was saying something there I found interesting. They were saying Connor's last name on his birth certificate is Angel. Apparently it's in Season 3 somewhere. Don't know if that's true though. Haven't double checked it.
 
Yeah, Connor's last name is Angel. In season three, when Angel took baby Connor to the doctor to get a check-up, they drew some blood and after Angel and Connor left the room, they showed a close-up of the blood vial and it said: Angel, Connor. They put it in last name first form like: Smith, John.
 
I think the rest of the gang just told the people at the hospital that Connor's surname is Angel because they call Angel Mr Angel
 
I like the name but im a bit disappointed because i still was half expecting it to be winters even though i knew it wouldn't be its just that i've read so many fanfics where her last name is winters that in my mind thats what her name was but now i know its not so i'll getover it and move on lol
 
I should add - since the word "Liath" comes from Gaelic languages rather than just Irish, Faith could be of Scottish descent. Apparently there's a distinct group of Lehanes from Southern Scotland.
 
I always thought d'Amato suited her better. She came off as kinda Italian to me, and when I saw somebody write her last name as d'Amato, it clicked. But Lehane is cute. Faith Lehane. It'll take some getting used to. But it fits.
 
This is good news for fanfiction writers and readers.

Does anyone know if Spike has any official last name? I've seen all kinds of versions of that too.
 
How come on the Tale sof The Slayer on this site Faith has a last name.But it hasn't been announced on any other site.Did BuffyBoards make up the last name?

It's official. Joss Whedon posted on Whedonesque.com and made it official. He chose the last name Lehane.

If someone from BB got there before the other boards, it's because they're in the know, keep their ears open, and on the ball. 😀
 
Personally I think it's nice. A name that doesn't suit her character - oh well, after all the surname is there before you're born regardless of their character.

It could have been worse. I like it.
