A thread for those who like to think bout the show :

I was wondering why Joss gave such a name to such a rebellious character, I mean I think he didn't name her Faith without reasons.
So why her ? I'm maybe looking for sommink which doesn't exist but I'd like to have ur opinion bout that.

I thought that maybe she represented the faith, then the lost of faith, maybe when teens r attracted by all the evil & satanic stuff, or delinquance, & then, the back to faith, but in a strange way coz she isn't welcome & all, & she help, but doesn't kill the first or caleb, so it's like faith, ok, but it's not that important & in the end, it could help but it won't make u end up what u've decided.
For Dawn, it was easier to see coz dawn = the sun is young & dawn is the younger, a quite magic like a sunrise, but for faith, i can't find out what does joss really wanted to say.

omg, I hope that u would understand me coz i feel that my my english isn't god on this ! lol
I can't speak bout philosophy in english, too hard !!!

Anyway, if u got sommink & that u wanna answer...
 
One of the writers once said that it's ironic she's named Faith, 'cause she's the most faithless character they've had. Maybe Joss did it for the irony.
 
I think that that could be answer too cos on the outside, Faith likes to seem confident and sure of herself and her sexuality or whatever i.e has faith in herself when really under the surface when hses onscreen shes the most insecure one of them all, looking for acceptance and jealous of what the others, especially buffy has.
 
Naming her Faith was probably for the sake of the irony, her personality ... welll I can't look into Joss' mind on why he made her, when he made her, how he made her ... but having a character like her is pretty much inevitable on a longer running show, she ressembles some of the people you run into during life.
 
I do agree that she ressembles many people that one may encouter on the journey of life!

I believe that he named her faith not for irony, but along the lines of hope. Hope is the greatest gift we have next to faith and then love. There is hope for all in this world, we just need to have faith. As much as Faith's character pisses me off, I can never give up on her. I have to have faith in Faith! No matter how many times she may fall/fail, I have to have faith that she will improve, come around, and change. This is where I tie it into my own personal life. I think of all the people that need to have my "faith" in them.

I don't know, haven't seen all the seasons of Buffy and I'm coming from a "good guys" must always win stance.
 
In my oppinion it was as an example...kind of a lesson of faith

Or maybe Joss just liked all of the fun one could have with the the whole "ya gotta have faith" deal...I'm so pervie...😛
