Ok, I know wikipedia and Angel's case files put her birthdate at 1980, but if they were true about Buffy's birthdate being in 1981, then thats not possible, seeing as Faith was the younger slayer. Faith was younger than Buffy so that would put her birthyear at at least 1982, which makes sense to have her birthday dec. 14th 1982, It bothers me to have such a conitunity flaw about Faith's birthdate, though they have changed around Buffy's alot as well.. I found a site that kind of agreed with me on her birthday..

damn, BEG beath me to it! it was never stated on wither show that Faith was the youngest. she was the youngest Slayer, yes, meaning that she;d been doing it less time than Buffy had, but it was never proven that she was the youngest girl.
it's been long thought, by me and some other people, that the fight during which Faith's Watcher was killed was actually her Cruicmentum (spelt wrong, i know) which would make her at least 18 when she arrived in Sunnydale, months older than Buffy.
i know that Eliza is younger than Buffy, but character wise i always thought that Faith was the oldest.

The girl with the opinion on the horoscope site Drama Queen linked to mentions the bit in Faith Hope and Trick where Buffy says "my bestest little sister", but let's have a look at the whole quote, shall we.

Giles: 'Kakistos' is Greek. It means the worst of the worst. (Heads
behind the counter) It's also the name of a vampire so old that his
hands and feet are cloven.

He goes into his office and comes out with a book, setting it on the
counter and leafing through it.

Buffy: Now, this guy shows up two days ago, right? Right around the
same time my bestest new little sister makes the scene.

Giles: (looks up and considers) You think he and Faith are connected?

The comment is facetious. It's not a reference to Faith's actual age. We have no indication Buffy even knows Faith's actual age at this point. As I heard it the Angel Case Files guy had access to actual reference material such as the original scripts. Apparently in those faith is described as 18ish. The date of Faith's birth comes from a wanted poster.

Now if Brian K Vaughan comes along in the Faith arc of Buffy season 8 and tells us Faith is younger, she's younger, but until that time what canon material we know of seems to tell us she's the older of the two slayers.

Its mentioned "little sister" like N4H said but also mentioned "big sister" somewhere too. I always assumed she was older. Definitely seems like it.

Like the quote above, it was said in Faith, Hope, and Trick that Faith is the younger slayer. I always saw her as the youngest, and I always thought she was 16ish in S3, she had to grow up fast but something about her always made her seem way younger than Buffy.

I don't understand DQ. Is it the word facetious you're having a problem with. It means tongue in cheek. It's like when you say something, but you mean something very different from the literal meaning. In fact you're kind of making a joke. Oh wait...I know how to explain this. Think of it as sarcasm. That's close enough. I'm saying Buffy is being sarcastic. Please don't tell me I have to explain what sarcastic means now. I'll tell you what, I'll add some sarcasm to this post so you understand.

I see I'm going to have to explain this in detail. Unfortunately I'm going to have to use a lot of actual words. Sorry about that. (Do you see what I mean. I lied there. I'm not really sorry. I said one thing, but I meant another. It was a nasty insinuation that you can't read. Don't worry, I wasn't serious, I was just trying to show you how sarcasm works.)

You see when Buffy uses the phrase "Bestest new little sister" referring to Faith she does not mean Faith is best, new, little, or her sister. It's a derogatory, sneering reference to the way Faith appears out of nowhere, and is horning in on her life. She has no more of an idea how old Faith actually is at this point than we do. Her remark has nothing whatsoever to do with Faith's actual age.

thanks for that almost brutal statement Nerd4hire, but what im having a problem about, is the now opposed identity crisis im having with Faith's character, and I believe that wasn't the only quote about Faith being young, and they've screwed up Buffy's birthdate three times on the show, and now we're all supposed to believe that the case file things are all knowing and true, I dont believe that, I just wanted to know, to actually be able to pinpoint her birthyear.

If thats not an option, fine, but really no need to get testy, I had a question, I guess thanks for trying to answer it..or butcher it..whichever.

There ya go. Now you've got it...sarcasm. You see - easy peasy.

But back to the serious stuff. Yes they've fumbled ages before. I'm not sure, but haven't I heard of similar complaints with Angel and Willow?

Nevertheless the fact the current support appears to suggest Faith is older, does not offer credibility to the idea Faith is younger. Could she be younger? Sure she could. She could be a Danish exchange student who lost her way if Joss decides to make her one.

ha, yes she could, I guess the only thing we can really tell for sure is that she was born on dec.14th? Dang Joss and his story issues. I guess at this point its up to the imgination on whether or not young Faith is younger than the bufftser.
