Fall TV: the good & the bad

Fall Finales are all almost over (waiting on American Horror Story), but how about let's rate all the shows at this point. First, I have to say, this has been the best overall season of television I can remember, and there are SOOO many shows I am interested in this year!

Here's what I'm watching:

Sunday:
Once Upon a Time
Love! One of my favorite new shows this year! I love Jennifer Morrison, and it's so good to see her in a starring role. Still not sure how the whole save the town stuff is going to play out. But I love the juxtiposition of the fairy tale story every week with what's going on in the town.

Family Guy
Nothing to say more than I love Family Guy, and love seeing new episodes!

Pan Am
I LOVE period pieces and I'm so glad ABC took a chance with this! Super bummed we only get 14 episodes, and ABC would make a mistake NOT renewing this awesome show! I love the dynamic between the flight attendants the best, and Dean is definitely not bad to look at! I especially love the espionage arc with Kate!

Monday:
Terra Nova
Tied with American Horror Story as my favorite new drama. And I'm super bummed both are going to be finished this week! ha! But I love the whole going back in time dynamic, and re-doing Dinotopia, but less Disney and much better! The sixers dynamic is awesome, and I have yet to watch the finale, so I can't wait to see how the 11th pilgrimage stuff is going to go down!

How I Met Your Mother:
As always, less interested in Ted and more interested in Barney/Robin and Lily/Marshall. But I'm getting less and less interested in the show. :/

2 Broke Girls:
My favorite new comedy! I love the relationship between Max and Caroline is spot on! I love Max's one-liners and Caroline's heiress with a heart. AH! So thankful for CBS bringing on another good comedy!

Gossip Girl:
I am actually quite enjoying this season. Which is saying a lot because I've never really enjoyed Gossip Girl. I honestly haven't seen an ep since that one s3 episode where Hilary Duff first guest stars. And before that, it was like episode 7 of s1. But I am totally loving the Blair arc. And the Charlie arc.

Heart of Dixie:
while I laugh at Rachel Bilson as a doctor, I think this show is just classic WB. It actually reminds me a lot of everwood, but with a naive NY girl as the focus instead of a family man. Though Lemon is annoying, and she needs a personality revamp immediately! Wade and George form a great triangle with Zoe. And I kind of want Lavon and Lemon to get back together just so Zoe and George can have a shot..

Tuesday:
90210:
This season has been so much better than the past 2. The latter half of season 3 was kind of blah. So I'm glad it's gotten more dramatic this year. I actually care about every arc going on. Well, minus Navid. Can his uncle just kill him already? I want Silver to move ON! And looks like she has. Boo. Ya. I am sad that Teddy is gone though. It pisses me off that they can do so much with him and just let him go. Whatever. Upwards and onwards. Oh, and omg. Liam. The finale. Not spoiling anything, but... I wonder what's going to happen!

New Girl:
I thoroughly enjoy this show, but I think 2 broke girls is the better freshman comedy. I love Zooey Deschanel, but sometimes everything is a bit over the top for me. I think it can come down a few pegs. But it's still on my must-watch.

Ringer: Sarah does not play convincing twins side-by-side. But she does well in both personalities when they are separate. I am thoroughly convinced they are 2 different people. I love the constant intrigue provided by every episode. And I cannot believe they
killed Gemma in the finale!
This show is definitely another of my most favorite freshman series.

Wednesday:
Survivor: South Pacific
I'm officially over Redemption Island. It was a good idea and twist, but it needs to go. It honestly takes up WAY too much screentime. I think the "One World" idea will add an interesting dynamic, and I hope that this means they will focus more on the beach-life than the challenges this season. That's what made survivor amazing. The dynamic between the players. Not the sorry-ass duels they re-use in Redemption. PS. I'm also over bringing old players back. STOP. PLEASE. I just want all new players. It was a good try but failed miserably TWICE. For SURVIVOR 25 (since 24 has already been shot) keep the oldies OUT OF IT!!!!

Suburgatory:
Second fave new comedy!! AHA! I love the quirky suburban characters, and the city girl adjusting to life in the burbs. There has not been an episode of this show I have not loved.

America's Next Top Model:
I thought it was really interesting to bring back old contestants for the ALL-STAR edition but the repition of the fact that these were "All-Stars" got old fast. They're not even All-Stars.. NO ONE WON their original season. They're more like "re-hashed stars". Though did like that
Lisa
won. She did amazing, and truly is star quality. Angelea can suck it. And i wonder what got her
disqualified
.

Happy Endings:
I freakin love this comedy! It is truly a hidden gem, and more people need to watch this. It definitely deserves some emmys for comedy. Penny is the most hilarious one of the bunch, and I love her antics!

American Horror Story:
Best. Show. Ever. I have been thoroughly enjoying this show from minute one. And it has not fallin short since! I cannot wait for the finale this week. And I hope they do the right thing and come up with a new house next season. I think that's the best way to continue the series, instead of adding a new family to the house. It's called "American" horror story for a reason. Each season should travel to a new location in the country.

Thursday:
Big Bang Theory
My. new. favorite. show. of. all. time. I am in freaking love with Sheldon Cooper. And I am so glad I decided to start watching this show. And Amy Farrah Fowler has added SO MUCH to it. Forget NCIS. Everyone should flock to this show and give it the ratings it truly deserves. Genius.

The Office:
Can Robert California go? He's pointless and adds nothing good to the show imo. And it makes no sense that the CEO of the company should continue to visit a small branch in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Just stick to the regular cast minus Steve and you're golden. For real.

Secret Circle:
I honestly like this so much better than TVD. I lost interest in TVD last year because it was so dense and dramatic, and every episode felt like the end of the world. I havent even finished watching last season. But on to TSC. I freakin love that LUX is Cassie! Brit is amazing. And I'm so glad I get to see her still on my tv every week! This show is just interesting without being too intense. I like it. It has the right flow imo. TVD can scale down a bit to this level.

Living With the Amish:
This actually just started in Britain, but i stumbled across it online, and I have loved every episode! I love that these kids are really trying to understand what it's like to live an Amish lifestyle, and I love seeing the worlds that different communities live in. It's definitely an eye-opener!

About ANTM All Stars; didn't Allison H win her season?
Big Bang Theory
My. new. favorite. show. of. all. time. I am in freaking love with Sheldon Cooper. And I am so glad I decided to start watching this show. And Amy Farrah Fowler has added SO MUCH to it. Forget NCIS. Everyone should flock to this show and give it the ratings it truly deserves. Genius.

Can't argue with that. Took some time for me to warm up to Amy though.

So many shows and no Homeland. 🙁

Homeland Homeland Homeland Homeland :D
Not Sure I've heard of Homeland..

I'll be honest. A friend had to tell me to watch it. Didn't know about it either for some reason. It's on Showtime.

Who's the hero "“ who's the threat? When MIA Marine Sgt. Nicholas Brody returns home to a hero's welcome after eight years in enemy confinement, brilliant but volatile CIA agent Carrie Mathison isn't buying his story. She believes that Brody has been turned and is now working for Al Qaeda. What follows is a dangerous game of cat and mouse with nothing short of American national security at stake. Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and Mandy Patankin star in the provocative, suspenseful new Showtime Original Series HOMELAND, from Executive Producers of 24.

No, Allison was runner up. She said so in the finale right before
she was runner up a second time

Ah, I stand corrected 🙂 I had a minor crush on her the first season she was in so I probably just wanted her to win then 😉
Agree with you bout Lisa and Angelea btw...

I was just going to start a thread something like this!

So, OK, I'll bite:

Once Upon A Time- love, love, love! Great actors, emotional storylines. I also like watching this with my kids. 🙂

Terra Nova- another show I love watching with the kids. My big question is: are they cancelling it?! 🙁 It doesn't seem like they've made a decision about it. I won't say it's as good as some other shows, but definitely good- nice special effects, I like the actors/characters, love the family vibe. We watched 1/2 of the finale the other night, we still have the other 1/2 to watch.

Glee- To me, Glee is Glee. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's so-so, but you always get to hear some nice music. 🙂 I wouldn't say that this year has been as strong as the 2 previous, but hopefully they'll amp it up a bit for the 2nd half.

Castle- Started out so incredibly emotional. I'm kind of let down that Castle & Beckett haven't had "the talk" yet. But it's funny, & it gets emotional at times too. So yeah, I like it!

Ringer- I'm watching this still, but I'm still unsure about what I think about it. I've talked about it more in detail on the Ringer thread. I'll keep on though.

Doctor Who- I know it finished a little while ago, but it took me awhile to catch up. Great season! The end had some good episodes too- I was using the Stormageddon quote for awhile as my status LOL. I am sooo looking forward to the Christmas special! And, we have started watching the series from the 9th doctor on Netflix (this current season was the 1st I had watched).

Bones- love this season! So funny to watch a paired up B&B (with pregnant Brennan!) interact. I also like that Bones is working quite a bit with Sweets.

The Big Bang Theory- I really can't say more than sk8rj04 did. I adore this show, I crack up so hard every single time I watch it. And inevitably I am eating or drinking something when I do lol, so I'm constantly snorting milk or spilling food!

Grimm- I like it, not as much as OUAT. One of the more recent episodes was really compelling I thought.

Fringe- this is one my absolutely favorite shows out now. Unfortunately, I've felt let down by this season. Peter being gone and nobody remembering him (even after he comes back) is so sad, as well as how their lives & personalities are different (not better) without him. And they're not showing near enough of the AltUniverse (which I disliked at first but grew to love). And of course William Bell/Leonard Nimoy not being on, even in animated version!

I think that's it for the recent shows. I just have to say that during this lull I'm watching Battlestar Galactica- OMG, this show almost overtakes Buffy in my love for it. It is absolutely amazing! I can't fawn over it enough.

Think I must agree with Washburne. Homeland is probably my favourite so far this season.

Here's some short thoughts of the current shows I watch at the moment.

Castle - I like it, but as with most of these kind of shows I usually watch it with one eye while doing other stuff.

Ringer - Still can't decide if SMG's character is super smart or really stupid. It does makes me curious though. I would call it a decent show but not much more than that.

The Walking Dead - This season has felt much slower than the first one. I hope they get going with something soon. Some brilliant moments every now and then though.

Bones - Still good enough. But the cases just doesn't seem as interesting as they use to do. And Zack is missed.

How I Met Your Mother - Love it still. At its best it's one of my all-time favorite shows. But they need to be careful with this on and off thing between main characters.

The Big Bang Theory - I mostly watch it to see if they will actually use Kaley Cuoco. Think she is criminally underused in the show. Also consider Sheldon to be way overrated, as can be seen in this thread. 😛

Once Upon a Time - Really like this one. It has really nice fairytale feeling that I love.

Terra Nova - Can't really decide if I like this show or not but I do keep watching... The oldest kid in the family must also be one of the stupidest kids on TV at the moment.

Glee - Think it has been a good season overall, better than last season. I only which they would play more older, classic rock songs and let Quinn sing at least once.
It has been a bad season for a Quinn actually but I can't get everything apparently.

Grimm - Feels a bit like a X-files copy. Like Castle I usually watch it with one eye while doing other stuff. Will give it some more time though.

Homeland - Love it. This, Glee and HIMYM is the shows I look forward to the most during the week. Claire Danes is a new favourite. She and Mandy Patinkin are both wonderful to watch.
But I do wonder a bit how they will manage to keep the story going without it starting to loose its credibillity.

/SK

Ok, will do the shows I can remember right now (my shows are a day ahead as I watch them the day after they air as I am in England.

Monday

Amazing race- good season, didn't actually finish it this year though... Just got caught up on stuff. Will probably end up doing the same next season though :L

American Dad, family guy, Cleveland show- Good time fillers, am loving AD ATM the other two seem to be declining.

HIMYM- tbh, am still catching up... I haven't been hooked if I am going to be honest

Desperate housewives- am in love and hatred right now, last season??? Noooooooo!!! Love this show so much, however I will probably rewatch as soon as it ends 😀

Tuesday

Gossip Girl and 90210- beginning of the year was ok, but I completely lost interest after two or three episodes, they will probably be removed from my list soon, if I am still uninterested after my attempt at a Christmas catch-up

Hart of Dixie- love it, great new show. I have missed the last couple of eps, but am eager to catch up!

Two broke girls- so funny, love the show!

Wednesday

Ringer- am in love with this show, has me on the edge of my seat, and cannot wait for it to start again.

Revenge- same as with ringer, am always on the edge of my seat, and cant wait for each episode.

New girl- amazing comedy, always so funny. Something to look forward to after the tenseness of ringer 😀

Thursday

Antm- awesome season, loved each episode, and IMO worthy winner!

Survivor- best season ever, first time I have watched all the way in a while. Have to say I thought the winner completely deserved it, and I think I may be the only person on the world who doesn't like ozzy.

Modern family and the middle- both great comedies, and have enjoyed them both when i feel in that mood!

Friday

TVD- why must it have finished so early in the mid season!!! Need new episode NOW

The secret circle- great new show, am sure it will last a while, but I assume I will get bored kinda quickly though...

Might have missed a few, will update if I find I have 😀 agree, or disagree??

After Fall Finales:

Monday
Well, looking at my previous post here.. I was watching Terra Nova, but I stopped watching.

HIMYM: Um... wow. Well... This season has been a roller coaster, for sure. I cannot express my disappointment that the writers are bringing Barney/Robin back. I knew it would happen, but I hate it. I can't stand what they did with the cheating... and the false positive pregnancy? already been done in the show. It's highly unlikely it would happen to Robin.. those tests are 99% accurate... and both Robin and Lily were in the 1%? I'm annoyed Ted has no real storyline... but I kinda get it.

House: I LOVE this season! I was worried, really worried... but I have enjoyed this season. They've spent a lot of time on the House/Wilson friendship, and that is my favorite aspect of the show, so I'm happy.

Onto Tuesday!

Glee: I love this season of Glee. They are picking up the pieces from season 2 nicely. Season 2 was a trainwreck, season 3 is SO much better. They're focusing on the story and not listening to the fans and letting fans dictate what the show should be... which is how you write good TV.

New Girl: My favorite new show of the year. It's HYSTERICAL. Jess is a combination of my best friend Rachel and I, and I LOVE it!

Ringer: Amazing. Every episode I'm gasping and freaking out. It's SO good. It makes me so excited for Tuesday!

Raising Hope is pretty good. I've never been the biggest "OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS SHOW" about Raising Hope but it does make me laugh and it still does this season.

Parenthood is great I'm liking that even the Adam part of the family is cool this season. But again, Parenthood was never a show I was like "OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS SHOW" about but I like it... so...

WEDNESDAY!
Modern Family has never been funnier! I am just... Oh my god. I'm laughing just thinking about it. So good! If they keep it up, they'll sweet the Emmy's next year too.

I love The Middle this season too. High School Sue is AWESOME!

Happy Endings is always really good. That show has so much heart and it always gets looked over and I feel bad. It's so good though! And this season is not an exception!

Suburgatory: this show is hysterical. I think it's JUST below New Girl for my favorite new comedy... I really can't describe... it makes me laugh so hard, I can't contain myself.

I love Revenge. I know a lot of people who aren't sure about it... but I really love it. Emily/Amanda is so crazy but awesome. Every time she brings someone down, and she gets that smile on her face... It's like I freaking live for it!

Psych: I love Psych, always will. And this season has had some awesome episodes... but overall, I feel this season is not as stellar as the past ones. I don't know, I love it still... but I'm every so slightly disappointed.

Thursday!
The Big Bang Theory: I'm so glad Shamy is on! I cried. Literally cried because I have been wanting and hoping and kljKLjskl:dsjkl:fJDSKLFJklSFJKL; SHAMY! That is all.

Community. OH MY GOD Community! I am LOVING this season beyond belief!!! Also, it's so more than inspiring what the Community fandom has done recently. The only thing I don't like is Jeff/Annie. I don't get it at all.

Parks and Rec: I love Leslie. I always have, but in this season I feel we've seen her shine in a way she just didn't before... because she's running for office. And it's her dream. And it's incredible.

The Secret Circle: I liked it more when the season started... now I don't know... I've got so many shows that this one kind of falls to the wayside.

Private Practice: I just keep thinking about that finale and I can't even... it was the best episode of Private Practice. I hope the spring premiere is just as strong. Oh my god. Just wow.

Friday
Chuck: This season is a roller coaster and I'm honestly not sure about it. It's pushing and pulling me and I don't know if I like it.

Grimm: SO FREAKING GOOD! It always has me on the edge of my seat... and MONROE! If there's one reason to tune into Grimm, it's Monroe.

Sunday
Once Upon a Time: I love this show. I love everything about this show. I love the dark be awesome takes on the fairytales, I love seeing the people in storybrook, I love the queen, I love Emma, I love it all. Just so freaking good. It's got this magical but dark quality... it's just wonderful.

Update:
REVENGE
I freaking love this show! I just watched all 10 eps straight and I can NOT get enough of this! I love Emily VanCamp. She's able to hit all the different angles she needs to as Emily Thorne. And the whole plot is so twisting, and I am loving how things all seem to fit together. AHH!! I love it.

Revenge can I just say this show is amazing? Watched the eps back to back Emily Van Camp is wonderful as Emily/Amanda. They also have some other people I know like Nick Wechsler. I think the characters are good and they have good relationships. I am fascinated by Nolan/Emily and the way they interact with one another.
Emily is good on Everwood but she is made for her role in Revenge.

The Secret Circle I got behind but it is heating back up and getting interesting.

Can't wait until my summer shows come back especially Rookie Blue & The Killing.
