Kate reached the house, and she had to mentally restrain herself from running
inside.
When she stepped through the door, almost surprised of not finding anything out of the
ordinary.
She put her shoes by the door when Hope came down the stairs, clad in the one
thing that told Kate that something was about to
happen. Instead of her usual dark second-skin clothes, the brunette was wearing
a white, loose but tight enough to show off the most gorgeous body, silk dress,
sandals, and a minimum of make-up, showing off how she really looked.
Kate could only stare at the woman moving closer to her.
"Hi." Hope said, but before Kate could reply, the brunette captured her lips and
wrapped her arms around her neck, bringing them close together. Kate's hands
moved down to Hope's waist on second nature, responding to the kiss.
Kissing Hope was always so different. If Hope or herself had been out of town a
couple of days, either in meetings or demon-y business, the first thing she'd do
when she saw Kate, regardless where they were, was to virtually attack her,
kissing her hard, long and passionately, before taking her the fastest way back
to the manor, often leaving parts of the crew or others behind blushing. If they
were both at the office, she could kiss her short and sweet, and giving her that
little i-just-felt-like-it smile, or they could engage in heavier make out
sessions behind closed doors. If they were out hunting demons or vamps, the
kisses would be urgent, hard and deep, proving that being hungry and horny
wasn't just something that the slayers experience!
d. (ALSO) When she woke up by the feeling of the brunette's lips on her own, or
when she woke Hope up the same way, feeling the wicca respond as she was gently
awoken from her slumber.
Mornings after entire nights of lovemaking, when the kisses would start off slow
and loving, before the 'low-down-tingles' started to build all over again. When a out of town case appeared, and Hope brought Kate with her, after they had
done the business, and they'd go to clubs where they would spend some time,
dancing, drinking, sometimes just talking, but somewhere along the line they'd
usually end up kissing, and Hope would steal her breath away with a sizzling
I-want-you-now kiss, then hastily exiting the club, and getting to their hotel
room the fastest way they could find. Kate couldn't count the clothes Hope had
ripped off her body, even if she loved it, loved knowing that she made the Wicca
this way, knowing that she could be just as rough with Hope as the brunette
sometimes was with her.
But when they were together, working, or just at home, they'd always be close,
always giving small caresses to each other, 'just because', 'I love
you' and 'I need you' caresses. It amazed Kate how they
could both feel which was which, but no one else saw it. Those nights when they
would leave it to Faith to shut off the lights, either to disappear into the
bedroom, or to take a bath, together. Softly exploring, rediscovering. Kate had
never had time to maintain a tan, or at all getting a tan, with her work, trying
to reach detective, which she eventually did. Now, when she wasn't a cop
anymore, that wasn't something she looked back on with sorrow. Hope, her total
opposite, dark haired and tanned, could spend ages caressing Kate's smooth milky skin, bringing her to the highest peaks over and over again.
Hope pulled away from Kate, still having her arms securely wrapped around the
Blonde's neck, watching her lover as she stood there with closed eyes,
breathing a little ragged.
"Wow." Kate breathed out, a smile curving her mouth.
"Uh huh." Hope replied, placing a teeny kiss upon her lover's lips.
"What's the occasion?" Kate asked, tracing mindless patterns on Hope's back,
feeling the brunette relax into her hands.
"Do I need one? Except for that I have the most beautiful woman I know of
in front of me, and I love her more than anything?" Hope spoke as she
placed small kisses on Kate's lips.
"If you put it that way, then it sounds like you have your reasons." Kate
smiled, still wondering what her lover had in mind.
"Oh yes, believe me I do. You ready?" Kate nodded.
"Ok, close your eyes." Kate did as she was told, and heard Hope mutter a few
words in a language unfamiliar to her. Soon she felt the ground becoming
noticeable softer, sounds of waves surrounded her, and a mild breeze blew.
"You can open them now." Kate did so and found herself not wearing work clothes
anymore, but a similar dress as Hope, her hair hanging loose. They were standing
barefoot on a white beach, the sky lightened by thousands of stars, the moon
casting a ghost like glow over it all. Kate looked around, everything so
peaceful, like no other place she had been before.
"Like it?" Hope held Kate's hands, watching as the blonde gazed around.
"It, it's great Hope." Kate said softly.
"Shh." Hope cupped Kate's face and kissed her gently.
"Wanna go for a walk?" Hope asked, gently brushing a strand of blonde
hair away from Kate's face.
"With you? Always." Kate smiled. They walked for a while, slowly, in
comfortable silence, holding hands, their fingers entwined.
"I've thought a lot lately, about me, about you, about us." Kate was a little
scared by Hope's words, something the brunette sensed immediately, even
if the former cop tried to hide it.
"When we first got together, I wasn't sure of how long it would last, or what I would feel for you when the first rush started to fade, and there was Faith,
whom I didn't want to pull into what could become something that was only about
me, where she would get involved, for then to rip that away from her." Hope took
a little break, looking at Kate, comfortingly stroking her hand with her thumb,
continuing to walk.
"But as time went by, I realized that it wasn't really a first rush, because it
never passed. And still I doubted, afraid of that I was using you as a
substitute for someone I knew a long time ago. I guess I sometimes think of
myself as Faith's parent, and that has also been holding me back, but
the more time I spend with you, the more I see that you aren't just a short,
flamey romance, not a crush I will tire of, not someone I will ever want to
forget. The conclusion I've reached, is something I've known for a long time,
but I was too frightened to see it before." They stopped walking, and Hope
turned so that she was facing Kate.
"I love you so much, more than I ever thought was possible. And I want to, I
need to spend my life with you, because I don't know how to live without you.
Without your smile, your kisses, your caresses, your comforting way of being,
with your ways to support me, the way you make me feel safe, the way you hold me
and the way you make me want to hold you and never let go, without the way you
love me. I don't know how to live without that anymore." Hope took off her
necklace, sliding a ring of white gold with a dark blue sapphire into her palm,
and kneeled before Kate, holding her hands.
"Kate Lockley, will you marry me?"
Kate felt tears well up, but through the chaos of thoughts running through her
mind, only one answer was clear to her.
"Yes Hope, there's nothing I want more."
The moment Kate finished, Hope brought
up her hand and slid the ring gently on her ring finger. When she had done so,
tears rolled down Kate's face. Hope stood back up, kissing away the tears.
"What is it?" She asked softly, placing butterfly kisses all over Kate's face.
"I'm just happier than I've ever been before." Kate answered, her voice still
wavering.
Hope captured Kate's lips, kissing her fiancée lovingly, flashing them back to
their bedroom.
"I love you." Kate breathed out when she recognized their surroundings.
"I love you too." Hope replied, letting the blonde pull her down onto the bed...
