A thought just came to me... I find it a little strange and sad that we never hear what happened to any of the Scoobies' family members. I know that everyone supposedly evacuated Sunnydale but still it would have been nice to get some confirmation about what happened to Willow's and Xander's families.
 
Hmm, I can't recall Willow or Xander's families being mentioned much in the season 8 comics (hence, post-Chosen). Actually, I think Xander does mention his parents...someone else who is another season 8 reader, help me out here! But I don't think Willow's parents are mentioned at all.
 
Kind of relevant but it's a shame Buffy's dad wasn't still in Sunnydale when it was destroyed. The series really goes out of its way to make sure you forget him and if you don't, you hate him.
He didn't even show up for Joyce's funeral.

I know! I was upset that they didn't further Buffy's relationship with her father. He seemed to care about her when he did visit, yet he's never spoken of later on until Dawn shows up (I think).

I wish Willow's mom had been in the show more. And it would have been nice to actually see Xander interact in his dysfunctional family... I mean, it woulda been sad, but uh, you know what I mean... 🙂 There were just so many Xander story lines that were dropped.
 
I always wondered what would have happened if Hank suddenly showed up after Joyce's death and actually tried to be a part of Buffy and Dawn's life. I think that would have been interesting but I guess it was one of those things that just never happened because other storylines mattered more.

It was the same for Cordy and her parents on Angel, I was always curious to see what would have happened if her mum had shown up. It was obvious she didn't like her parents at all after she found out about the Taxes issue and just cut them out of her life. The only glimpse of her parents we see is in a photo in season 4 when shes suffering from amnesia.

Yeah I wondered about that one, too... Like, did anyone contact Cordelia's parents when she dissapeared?
 
I think the point was that the friendships were much closer than the relationships between families. Almost every time there are family members involved it's disastrous! Angel and Connor was a mess, Xander's wedding, even Spike and his mom.
 
I agree that there relationships with each other were much closer and that they all became each others family but you think they would have mentioned it at some point. I mean even though Willow and Xander didn't get along with their parents I'm sure they still cared. Not that I think the families should have been involved, but it would have been nice to have seen them at least think about their families when Sunnydale was starting to crumble.

A lot of the townsfolk had fleed Sunnydale during the end of season 7 (remember the ep that showed Clem stuck in a traffic jam of outgoing cars?). And like I said, Xander definitely references his parents in season 8, so we know for sure that they're alive.
 
I'm sure Willow's mum would have had something to say about Willow dabbling in magic at the end of Season 6, too. 🙂
