I think she knew it was all made up... I don't know for sure, obviously, but judging by her reaction when Anya asked her what kind of demon they were going to be. 😛

This is a sweet episode, and even though I can appreciate Buffy's statement that Tara was part of their group and considered one of the gang, I have to agree with Icarium on a lot of his points in this post. I felt like this was so forced... Here they are talking one minute about how "she's nice" but they don't know anything about her except "she likes Willow". I have a lot of friends that I think are nice and know one or two things they like, but I wouldn't go out of my way to step in between them and their cult-like weirdo family. :\ Again, I felt like it was a nice gesture to stand up for her, but to call Tara family when up until that point no one besides Willow really ever interacted with her seemed very silly to me.

That never bothered me. The way I saw it, Buffy was protecting Tara. She was also doing something nice for Willow. Buffy trusted Willow and her judgement of character and through this moment, through standing up for Tara, she became someone Buffy loved, not just someone Buffy thought was nice. Buffy stood up to protect Tara and that is what made Buffy love Tara. If that makes sense...

Giles doesn't say this. Xander does. And actually he says "You're dealing with all of us" After Giles says "Actually, you're not just dealing with two little girls"

I just saw this episode yesterday so it's fresh on my mind.

I felt really bad for Tara this episode. I know what it's like to feel like an outsider in such a close group of friends who had lives together way before you came into the picture.

I also thought it was interesting how Tara's father worded the situation with her witchyness. Saying, "We thought it was just a phase... you would grow out of it... blah blah blah." I was thinking, "Is he talking about her being a witch or a lesbian?" I don't know if the metaphor was intentional but it was there.

The line "She was kinda like Cordelia actually" Buffy says when talking about Glory shows that Buffy has no idea how Cordelia has grown as a person at that point. I know it was still the beginning of season 2 in Angel but Cordy had already gone past that whole phase of hers. It's kinda sad that the memory the scoobies will always have of Cordelia is her being a selfish spoiled bitca. Considering the warrior she eventually became. I know this was off topic but Cordy's my favorite character and all this came to my mind when she was mentioned.

Glory was fun in this episode too. But seeing as how she's Ben, I don't know how she got from one end of the room to the other when she kidnapped that demon without us viewers seeing her in the background.

Seeing Amy Adams and Sarah Michelle Gellar in the room together was trippy. They both played Kathryn in the Cruel Intentions series.

Those are my random thoughts on the episode.

I think it was definitely intentional. It seems that magic is used as a metaphor for homosexuality in the show- well, until they use it as a metaphor for drug addiction, which is kind of confusing!

I agree. Some of the characters got to interact briefly with Cordy in ATS, but not enough to discover what she was really like at that point. Wonder if we'll see any Scooby/HP-Cordy interaction in Season 9?
