Fan Fiction=Porn?

Ok so Ive been reading a little bit of fan fiction for the first time and WOW!, gotta say man....dirty!.

I was on this website The Soulful Spike Society and some of the fiction was very cute (If your a spuffy lover, you should look at these short stories there by a woman named spring summers.) But there was some stuff that was very steamy, I seriously felt like I was doing something wrong by reading it! One story was this girls version of what she would have liked to have happened in season 6. It was well written and everything, but you could tell which characters she liked and which ones she didn't, It was very loving of buffy, spike (duh!), tara, dawn and giles, but really nasty to willow and xander. Which I guess is what you get if a fan is writing it.

I was wondering if you guys know of any place where there is good buffy fan fiction, thats not really bias in anyway and whilst I enjoy spuffy love, not pornographic! Ive got nothing but respect for someone who has the time to write this stuff and do it well.

I can't speak to how steamy or non-steamy it is. I've only read some of them. Of course, those weren't very steamy.

Hmm... I quite like my steamy stories, especially good slashy ones so I won't direct you to any of the sites I go to! Although I have found quite a lot of good fanfic around the internet I couldn't name any sites. I'd check out some of the stuff written on the Buffy Boards, I don't think it's aloud to be pornographic.

It really depends. Some Fanfiction is remarkably well written and reads as well as any Buffy or Angel novel with no bias at all to any of the characters. Just a real good read. While others, can be, unfortunately, appalling. In those cases the writing doesn't flow, the story itself doesn't make sense and their like/dislike for one of the characters makes them write them doing something completely out of character.

And of course fanfics can vary from the steamy NC-17 stuff down to the Kiddie Friendly which even lacks inuendos. I don't know any particular sites for fanfic, but you may want to try Fanfiction.Net for a huge variety of Buffy fanfiction which is very easy to search and there are some really gems to be found on there.

Thanks guys, I dont mind a little bit of "hey hey" (wiggles eyebrows), but not a complete full blown description of every single dirty detail!. And actually Ive read some fan fiction that is better than the novels! I mean have you read Spark and Burn? or Blood and Fog? yesh!. Blood and Fog is set in Jack the Ripper's hay day and the author (cant remember their name) actually refers to spike as having white hair! several times!, man get your facts straight!.

i dont know specifically good stand-alone fic off the top of my head, but i do know a couple of enjoyable virtual series if you're interested.

i havent read them in a while, but the seven viginettes are probably my favourite, and if you like that sort of thing (reading about the characters as cute little kiddies) then growing up on a saturday afternoon is adorable.

Oh yeah there's some dirty stuff out there! And sometimes you're happily reading away a really good story and suddenly out of the blue it becomes very *blue*. I've read some good stuff on LiveJournal, if the story is a bit sexy you have to click a button that says you are over 14, so it gives you a warning of what's coming. Most stories are given a rateing too and in some of the fanfiction archives you can liit your search to only G or PG fics. by the way, Spring Summers (@ the Soulful Spike Society) also does these fantastic episode reviews/discussion that are really woth a read. Her insights are amazing!

FUN FACT: I was watching some convention thing on YouTube not long ago, it was with James Marsters and Juliet Landau and a couple of others (I wanna say Elizabeth Rohm but I think that was a different one). One fan asked James how he feels about the fan fiction, I mean it is him the fans are thinking about in all those sexy situations! does he feel used or degraded?. Juliet just about fell off her chair laughing, and James just kinda giggled and said something like "I guess I would feel used if I read them."

I totally agree ItMustBeBunnies some of the stuff out there is a little intense I started reading this on Fan Fic and then it turned into some weird thing between Tara and Spike and I was like WTF is this and I stopped reading it. I haven't really read anything since I am kind of scared. :biggrin:

Fanfic is, umm... a guilty pleasure for several reasons, one of which is the steaminess. Others include the out-of-character interactions and the god-awful writing (my own included).

As far as the sex goes, I agree with Tranquillity. I hate it when I'm reading along and enjoying a perfectly decent big bad or magical snaffu when suddenly, out of the blue (hehe), the characters stop to have sex. I'm always like, "Hello! Apocalypse! Go do your jobs, people!" I just feel interrupted, you know? Also, I feel embarrassed when that happens. Mostly, I just try to skim over those parts, especially if they're out of character (ick) or pertain to a really weird pairing that would never ever have happened in the show (gah!). That said, I have been known to like a couple of slashy and/or steamy fics and even to have written one (not Buffy related) myself. For me, it mostly depends on my mood. Regardless, whether I want a good story with sex in it or a good story of the PG variety, the thing that turns me off most fanfic (including my own) is if it's lacking in the good story department, not whether or not it's got some sex in it.

Oh, and try the Mr. Gordo fics. They're horribly Spike centric, which is kind of irritating, but the narrative voice is cute and creative enough to allow me to see past that.

Ok just so you guys know what offended me so I have posted the link to the story!. I must admitt, I did read all the way to the end, mostly just to see what happened. Its been awhile since I read it but I do remember thinking it was well written and he relationship between Spike and Dawn was very sweet, and I found his relationships with Tara and Giles nice as well. It was an iteresting take on season 6 and actually a better way for spuffy to have gone I guess, although I do not like what she does with Willow!. As I said above perhaps I am being a prude, but um certin descriptions of *ahem* ingestion of certin bodily fluids.........and not just the one that immediatly comes to mind, made me a tad uncomfortable. Anyhow, enjoy!

i love well-written, serious fanfiction. allaboutspike.com is a great site that has fiction with spike with basically every character (my favourites are buffy and angel haha). the fics can be quite smutty but there are some amazing ones. i highly recommend the fic called "giving in" by coldcoffeeeyes25--it's spuffy and is extremely well-written because it reminds me so much of the actual show. another beautiful one that everyone should read is called "angels of the silences" by annie sewell-jennings--it's not quite as similar to the show, but it offers an alternate ending. it's also spuffy and is so incredibly written--it's the best fanfic i've ever read i think. definitely check those out.

The only Buffy porn I've read, or wanted to read was just to see the cuteness that is Fuffy.
Everything else I've read in the buffyverse, I try to avoid it. Fanfiction shouldn't be about the sex! ((Hehe unless that is all it's supposed to be about))
