Fandoms people assume you like that you don't

Oh, I have another example.
One of my favorite games is Star Wars Battlefront II. A friend of mine said to me, "Hey, there's this Lord of the Rings game. It's like Battlefront only with LOTR. You'll like it!"
Without checking this game out I can say that I don't like it. I like Battlefront, because it has Star Wars in it. I don't like LOTR, so I don't like the other game. End of story.

Science fiction, though I'm really not sure why. I'm not a sci-fi fan at all.

Also though I like fantasy and supernatural stories a lot it seems somehow hard for people to understand that you don't necessarily like all of them. It's like "oh you like Lord of the rings so you must love... 'Birds of prey' etc etc" ...

Oh, and all kinds of Metal music. Apparently, people see some connection between that and roleplaying games. Like, WTF? ???

Lol I've noticed. I'm a metal fan and I've never ever had the desire to roleplay, neither has any of the tons of metal friends I have... so I'm not sure where the connection comes from. 🙂

Most fandoms that I don't have yet are attributed to me are music related though. There are a lot of different kinds of metal and liking one seem to make people think you love all indiscriminately as if there's no difference between them (there is! Big differences!)

I do love vampires stories and will seek them out but opposite to many of you I've found that people are stunned to find that I like those and would never have guessed it. 🙂

Everyone thinks that since I'm into Buffy then I must be in to The Vampire Diaries, which is not the case.

The same as most people here - that I must be a fan of The Vampire Diaries and True Blood and any other horror/vampire related show.

A couple of people assumed I'd be watching Made in Chelsea which I found very insulting.

People always assume I'm a HP fan. Why? Because my friends LOVE it.

(Ironically, my friends always knew I didn't like Harry Potter, but they thought I was juat blindly disliking it. They were shocked to find out, I'd read all the books and just didn't care for it! xD)

South Park, people assume I like South Park but I don't. I understand why people would think so though cos I usually love that type of thing.. Putting Mohammed in a bear suit was one of the best things ever, but other than that I just don't think the show is that great..

Vampires, movies and tv shows about vampires. People often assume I like it because of Buffy. But I don't. I've never watched an episode of Tru Blood or the diary show whatever and I never will!

The Big Bang Theory. I liked the first season but then when everybody else started liking it in a weird way it ruined it for me so I stopped watching it..
