In my experience, SA cooking means there is a lot of meat. To me, who was a student on a two month field trip to whom food was sustenance, a braai was sustenance with added good company and different spices from what I was used to.
That was a sidenote, though. If I were to get my father something for father's day, which I normally don't, it would probably be some nifty hiking gear. Seeing as he is an old leftie who raised this a little less old leftie, though, we largely agree that father's day is a commercial concept. Hence I can forget it without feeling too bad about my qualifications as offspring.
