So I saw the thread about creep by radiohead, a song people don't think was on Buffy, though I do remember at that time that band and that song was one of my favorites. And I would say at the time I personally identified it with the Spike character, particularly from fool for love, crush and season 5 in general.

But, anyway, this got me thinking, what are the best song moments in Buffy for people here on the Buffy boards? what are your personal favorites and the ones that stick in your mind and make your skin prickle a bit?

Two ones come to my mind as iconic moments in the series for Buffy particularly. Wild Horses by the Sundays, during the prom episode, season 3, when Buffy and Angel see each other and dance.

And then season 6, Tabula Rasa, Goodbye to you, by Michelle Branch. When Buffy has to face adult life without Giles, parent-figure, to look after her, and ends up making out with Spike at the Bronze.

Also, what did people think of the original Buffy CD, what were your favorite songs from that?

I thought it was great at the time, and used to listen to it alot, some of my faves were Lucky, Keep myself Awake, Nothing But You, Pain, and Wild Horses 😎

I really like when Ballad for Dead Friends by Dashboard Prophets is played while Darla and the Master's other vamps are heading to the Bronze in The Harvest.

The other one I love, is Cibo Matto playing Sugar Water while Buffy does that mating dance to with Xander.

And well, Close Your Eyes and Full of Grace speak for themselves.

Buffy dancing with Xander, is that from the episode, when she was bad? I looked it up, listening to it, yes it must be 😀 It does fit that moment very well.

I am now trying to think of, or remember some that capture season 4 or 5

Goodbye To You for sure. Just everything from that scene and the music is perfection.

For all the fun in that episode, this is the part that makes it emotionally powerful
There are a lot of songs that I like. The firsts that come to my mind are these, but there are many others.

I'll remember you - Sophie Zelmani (BTVS 1x07)
It doesn't matter - Alison Krauss & Union Station (BTVS 2x01)
Stupid thing - Nickel (BTVS 2x03)
Full of grace - Sarah McLachlan (BTVS 2x22)
Wild horses - The Sundays (BTVS 3x20)

Also on Angel there are very beautiful songs, such as this and I really like it.

Buffy has a lot of good music and sometimes bad music

As far as bands at the Bronze singing. I like Cibo Matto in When She Was Bad, just because I like the scene, not so much the song, but it works.
I also like Michelle Branch, just because I like her music, so it's cool she was on my fav tv show. I also like Aimee Man in Sleeper, I really like that song, Pavlov's Bell.

There's a lot of good songs that are played throughout the episodes too. I don't know the name of the song but it's in Harsh Light of Day. The montage with Spike working on finding the Gem, digging or welding or whatever. I really like the song that is played over it. Can't think of anything else that sticks out right now. Well the end score playing over the fight sequence in Chosen. That's pretty epic.

When the party was getting going to reassemble the Judge, Drusilla put on Transylvanian Concubine by Rasputina and it was perfect mood music for the scene. Appropriately disturbing video here:

I think this might be the song you were thinking of:

Dolls Head - Its Over its Under

That episode in general had some good music in it, from what I remember, I always liked the song Lucky, that was in that episode also. Though in that case, I liked the song before I saw it in Buffy.

This one, Virgin State of Mind, a bit like the Transylvania Concubine one mentioned, has very much that haunting vampire feel to it, was one of the first ones I liked on the CD, as it seemed perfect as a vampire show song:

Awesome thanks! I like that song, it's got a good beat. Virgin State of Mind is good too. There's a lot of god music on Buffy, it's hard to remember all of them.

Although I dig the songs on the show, 'One Eye Blind' 'Background' in the Buffy/Angel dream sequence for example ('Dead Man's Party' I think.)

I also love the purely instrumental stuff.

I love the end battle music in 'Chosen'- really epic! 🙂

Anyone have any bits of music they didn't like particularly like on the show?

For me the whole scene at the Bronze in 'Superstar' stands out- with them playing swing dance or whatever. Was that a fad at the time? Because it really didn't fit.

The end battle theme in Chosen always grated on me I'm afraid. It sounded very derivative of various movie music at the time. Kind of Highlander on steroids.

I vastly preferred the end theme played during Buffys death dive in 'The Gift'. I found that so sad and yet peaceful that I used that as one of the pieces of music to play at my Mothers funeral.

I always liked Bush's "Out of This World." In season six when Buffy goes to Spikes crypt but leaves before he opens the door. The tone of that was really cool.

I can't think of any off the top of my head that didn't work for me though.

For a music fail, maybe in Prophecy Girl when they played the shows theme music as they were gearing up to fight the master, it had a corny, cheesy feel to it for me and took you out of the episode a bit, when you should be most in it.

For a great non-music moment, the way in which they did the body episode, the peculiar lack of music here made it so much more real and emotional than any sentimental or poignant or tragic song or score could have done.

Most have been mentioned - Full of grace, Close your eyes, Ballad for dead friends, Cibo Matto and Michelle Branch 🙂 Great songs, great moments, great mood and timing.

I also really like the score called "The Final Fight" when Buffy gets up from the ground and starts kicking ass in "Chosen" not to mention when Giles plays and sings "Behind blue eyes" in "Where the wild things are" (that was the ep right?) either way, that was a bit random but awesome.

100% agree. All good choices.
I don't know the name of the song, but the one that plays at the beginning of "Conversations with Dead people" LOVE THAT ONE 🙂

I also agree on wild horses, gorgeous

Blue by Angie Hart (Song in the beginning of conversations with dead people)

Sugar Water by Cibo Matto (Buffy sensual dance with Xander)

Chinese Burn by Curve (Buffy and Faith dancing in club)

Window to your soul by Delerium (Riley/Buffy first sex scene)

Living Dead Girl by Rob Zombie from Faith's club scene in 'Five By Five'. 😀

Slice of fried gold.

Didn't Willow dance manically to Blink 182 at one point? So cute. 🙂

Plus the opening to 'CWDP' that's already been mentioned. Very atmospheric.
