Favorite Character From Each Season

Season 1 - The Buffster. I liked how her character made a full circle this season, from being all, "I don't wanna slay anymore." to "I'm gonna go be the sacrificial lamb to save the world. Because it's my duty."
Season 2 - Kendra. I'm biased towards Slayers, lol.
Season 3 - Faith. She's just an all around amazing character.
Season 4 - Willow. I like how the character evolved this season and there was the introduction of Wara.
Season 5 - Dawn. I like the character.
Season 6 - Tara. Even though you could see how much it was tearing her up inside to seperate from Willow, she stood her ground and made sure that Willow knew that magick was consuming her.
Season 7 - Hard decision, but I'm gonna have to say Faith. Buffy still didn't trust her to a certain degree but Faith definitely wanted to change that.
(dunno if I can include season eight, but...)
Season 8 - Satsu. I'm just really feeling this character -- she seems pretty cool IMO. Can't wait to see what Joss has in store!
 
Season 1: Angel, tall dark and handsome and didn't know the characters too well. Though Xander was funny too, but annoying.
Season 2: Angel at the beginning of the season, same with Buffy. Then Cordelia/Spike near the end, surprisingly! They provided much needed comic relief and were some of the few characters that I didn't feel the urge to drill 🙂
Season 3: Buffy, Willow, Angel.... plain and simple!
Season 4: Willow, Xander, Spike-- all funny
Season 5: Giles, Buffy, Joyce, Spike
Season 6: Tara, Xander... Probably the most down to earth characters in this season. Although Giles gets points for his "Grave" appearance!
Season 7: Spike, Faith, Giles, Willow, Xander, Buffy-- I loved all the scoobies in this season, I'll be honest.

I think that they all kind of grew up season by season, so by the end it was hard to choose just one. Also parts of seasons that I like characters better in than others (like in Season Two.... or first part of s6 versus the second half).
 
I haven't read season 8 or watched seasons 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Angel, but I'll pick the TV seasons of Buffy and Angel Season 1.

Buffy
Season 1: Xander & Buffy. Xander's so funny, and I reckon they did great with his character here. Buffy was also great, like The Chosen said, beginning with not wanting to have anything to do with slaying, and ending up being willing to sacrifice herself to safe the world from a vampire.
Season 2: Spike and Dru. They are brilliant as a couple, and also both great alone! I love funny, bad Spike and insane Dru. I also loved Willow a lot here, but no way she could top Spike or Dru.
Season 3: Oz. I thought he was a great character in the 3 seasons he was in, but I loved him in season 3. He's very funny.
Season 4: Spike! He's very funny in this season, and had a great plot, though I always missed him as the enemy.
Season 5: Anya and Spike. I always thought Anya was a hilarious character, my 2nd favourite, and I think she was at her best here. Spike was also great fun.
Season 6: Willow. She was fantastic here.
Season 7: Spike again. The whole sould thing was a brilliant plot for him. I loved it.

Angel
Season 1: Doyle. He was a great, funny character. I also loved Angel and Cordy, but I think Doyle's my favourite.

Season One-Willow-she came across as a real shy sweetie pie with a helpless crush on Xander.
Season Two-Spike,Drusilla + Cordy-I LOVE Spike and Dru they are the best villains IMO especially Spike being all badass thats how I liked him.
Season Three-
Season Four-Tara and Spike-I loved Tara because of her sweet, growing friendship with Willow and how they connected with each other so well and had so much great chemistry.I liked Spike here cause as always he comes out with the funny stuff.
Season Five-Buffy-I really liked her in this season-she was so concentrated on protecting Dawn from Glory and she even saved the world to do it.Also I loved Glory she was hilarious defnitely one of my favourite villains with Spike and Dru.Also Anya was really funny too.
Season Six-Willow-It's kinda hard to watch her relationship with Tara break down but them finally(at last!)get back together at the end.We also get to see her deal with her magic addiction.Also I agree that Xander kept the whole gang together in this season.

Buffy:

S1: Xander. He was just so luckless. I have a soft spot for the luckless.
S2: Angelus. I was really getting bored with Angels whole Lurk 'n Mope shtick, it was deeply fun to see him (and the actor) go all psycho-evil.
S3: It's a tie between Willow and Faith. I loved seeing Willow grow and become more powerful, but watching Faith become a "monster" was also very interesting.
S4: Spike. Watching him cope w/being "neutered" was simply too much fun!
S5: Another tie. Between Buffy and Spike. Buffy had to grow into an adult with a minor to support and a world to save! But Spike had to deal with being *gulp* In Love! Now that's a horror show!
S6: Willow. Poor girl.
S7: Spike. Best character arc.

Angel:

S1: Doyle. Wonderfully written underdog-hero. Shame about the actor.
S2: Angel & Darla. Most complex relationship EVER.
S3: Fred. Because she's all Fred and stuff.
S4. Wesley. I'm a sucker for a tortured man.
S5. Fred/Illyria & Wesley. Apparently I'm also a sucker for a tortured plot. Maybe if Whedon read less Shakespear and more Jane Austen the love stories would end better???
 
Buffy:
Season 1: Buffy - SMG plays the emotions SO well in this season, my heart still breaks everytime I watch Prophecy Girl
Season 2: Angelus - cause I love me some leather pants and he's the first 'evil' character I've ever been intrigued by
Season 3: Willow/Vamp!Willow - the growth in power, her first love etc all played out beautifully
Season 4: was kind of a blah season for me, I don't really have one
Season 5: Anya - her speech in the Body - 'nough said
Season 6: Tara - cause even though she died she's still made of awesome
Season 7: Xander - because he lost an eye but kept his self-respect

Angel
Season 1: Angel - somebody's got a cause, love that champion-vibe
Season 2: Lorne - just awesome as as empath
Season 3: Cordelia - the way she dealt with all her changes before they messed it all up in s4 was fantastic
Season 4: Wesley - so complex
Season 5: Gunn
 
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Season 1: Buffy...She is the reason we are all here and I just wanted to know more about this girl.
Season 2: Bangel/Angelus...Possibly my favourite season and it is very much Buffy and Angel's season. The turns their relationship took were constantly entertaining and Angelus was a joy to watch.
Season 3: I'm gona say Willow and Faith...This season was my favourite Willow season and really the last time I enjoyed her character. Faith, well she blew into town and the verse was never the same again.
Season 4: For me this was all about Giles. It was so great to watch him completely lose any grasp he had on reality. He was totally lost and played it billiantly.
Season 5: Buffy again. This is her story really coming to an end. The whole season was building up for that last jump. It was all about Buffy.
Season 6: This has to go to Xander, not because I think he had an especially good season but because I think everyone else sucked a hell of a lot more.
Season 7: Buffy wins this one too. I just felt after the downward spiral that was 5 and 6 we finally had Buffy back.


ANGEL
Season 1: Cordelia...She made such an amazing transformation and did while still maintaining her tactless, witty charm. Love her!
Season 2: Cordy again...what I said the last time...I could gush for hours but I won't. Although Angel also had really really good season 2 also (He seems to shine in 2nd seasons!) His almost total apathy was brilliant and his reaction to Willow in the last ep..."It's Buffy"...one of my all time tv moments ever.
Season 3: I'm gona say Lilah...girl had some fun this season😉
Season 4: I'm gona say Wesley...he plays bad really really well. It was also great to see dork Wesley back for a little while in Spin the Bottle.
Season 5: I really wasn't loving this season but I think Angel nudges ever so slightly. Mainly because of the leaps an bounds of the last few eps of the season....and well he got turned into a puppet!
 
Buffy:
S1 - Willow - cute and nerdy and the whole unrequited love thing was lovely
S2 - Spike - the show just went up a notch with his arrival
S3 - Buffy - brave, vunerable, interesting and growth
S4 - Spike - yeah, he got all the best lines and was delicious
S5 - Dawn - yes Dawn, i was going to say Buffy but then i decided that Dawn was so important to both Buffy and Spike that i couldn't go past her
S6 - Buffy - I love the angst, I love that she went dark for a while, loved it that she got herself back
S7 - Spike - awesome story.
S8 - Xander - he just feels like xander where the others are a bit cartoon

Angel:
S1-4: Angel and Cordy - the mission and the visions, an unbeatable combo everytime even with cordy evil
S5 - Spike - he was the only sane one at Wolfram and Hart
ATF - Spike - who else am i gonna say?
