So I know a lot of you love a lot of different characters in the Buffy series but I want to know who is your absolute favorite and why?

Mine is obviously Kendra. I loved what she brought to the show for her short time on it, it was really cool to see another Slayer. And right now I'm learning more about the show and actually started it from the beginning last week, so to be fair I haven't seen many episodes yet. Bianca Lawson is my fave actress that's what got me into Buffy, watching the Kendra episodes. So Kendra is my all time favorite.

We're talking BtVS here, right? My ACTUAL favorite characters are both from AtS, so I'll keep it BtVS.

For a long time I always considered Xander to be my favorite character, simply because he was the reason I watched the show for the first season and a half. Keep in mind I was 13 when BtVS first aired, my taste in men has matured, lol. (Zip it, Kean 😛)

But the more I've grown up, the more time I spend talking about the show, discussing it, the more I've realized that Buffy herself is my favorite character.

I love everything about her, her strength, her courage, her heart, how she works, how she thinks, how she acts, how she grew. I love everything about her.

I also love Dawn, I love how she dealt with everything that was thrown at her, how she came through it to stand tall and choose to fight with Buffy.

I also love Faith, and how she's the complete opposite of Buffy, even though we're supposed to think that Buffy is the unorthodox Slayer, then we have Faith, the black to Buffy's white. I love how Faith struggled with everything life threw at her, and managed to come out on top and make her life better for herself. I loved her whole arc.

Angel and Buffy are my favourite characters from any work of fiction.

I could go on for pages but in a nutshell I just really, really admire and empathise with them both.

I'd have to say it is a fair mix between spike when he gets his soul and buffy so I guess Spuffy. The dynamic of their relationship caught my attention. It changed so much over the course of the final 2 seasons. It went from damaging to painful to sweet and romantic to heartbreaking in the end. It had it all and it fascinates me.

When I first watched BTVS, I related most to Willow (I was also a nerdy spaz in high school), so I considered her my favorite character. She is no longer my favorite character, though I still love her.

In my opinion, the best written character on BTVS is Spike. He's up there on my list of favorites, but I still don't think he is my favorite. I also gained a newfound appreciation for Buffy as a character during my subsequent watch throughs. Its rare I ever call the main protagonist one of my favorite characters, but Buffy comes pretty close.

But my favorite has to be Giles. A great character who subtly grew throughout the entire series. He could be comical, authoritative, dark, and kind. He was also the one scooby I never wanted to strangle at times (though he had his fair share of slip ups).

(The reason I love BTVS so much and Whedon's work in general is because of the great characters that come out of it. TV is all about characters, and Whedon gets that. Its hard to pick just one favorite 😛)

Angel is my favorite character, and if I expand a little bit and think about my favorites from across fiction, he's right near the top.

I find Angel to be the most interesting character Whedon has ever produced, but it goes beyond that. I really get Angel, if that makes any sense. I think he's the best hero in the Whedonverse. His relationships and chemistry with other characters is the best on either show. In particular, his relationship with Buffy is my all time favorite romantic paring.

There are a list of other reasons, but my biggest is probably because I really identify with Angel. He's the man.

It used to be Buffy, but my favorite character is pretty much either Tara or Willow. I think they're perfect together, and also perfect as individuals 🙂

My favorite is Willow, but very closely followed by Angel.

I think Willow is by far the most interesting character for what we see her go through.

Angel for similar reasons.

Angel is my favorite followed by Riley. Simply because they are the characters I found myself rooting for, sympathizing with, and most interested in. I also really loved Buffy, Cordy, and Oz. Picking favorites is hard.

Riley, wow! is it lonely on that side of the fence :p?
Angel. He's my man. It's my favorite character in BTVS that ATS. No character of any TV series has managed to capture my attention as does Angel. I love everything about him, even when he falls and slips into the dark places of his soul, even when he's wrong, I still love him. I can empathize with him as with anybody else character. In second place is Buffy with her was love at first sight and empathy with her is very strong ..then if Angel and Buffy are together on the scene ..are sparks. I am totally in love with this pair .. they are perfect together!

If I may add a third character, I would say that are in third place Connor and Wesley on an equal footing .. but are characters from ATS. In BTVS, in third place I insert Rupert Giles. Can you imagine what emotions I felt when..
Angel, possessed by Twilight, he killed Giles? 🙁

Tara used to be my favorite, fallowed by Faith. But lately, I think Buffy takes the cake. Being older, Buffy just really gets to me. Everything about her I can relate too or empathise with. I just love her so much for being the one character on TV portraying someone that I can truly relate too.

Tara and Faith are still up there though. And Wesley and Doyle are my favorites in AtS.

Spike is my favorite fictional character. He's also the most evolved and developed of the characters on Buffy. He's a paradox, he defies all odds, he could love without a soul. He fought for his soul for love, and saved the world. He's come full-circle, from monster to redeemed. He's smart, clever, brave and devoted.

Buffy is a close second. She is a true warrior, selfless, and so, so strong.

If we're talking only BtVS, my favourite character would be Tara; she is so amazingly strong, selfless, compassionate and kind. She is the most mature Scooby, the most grounded and the one who always seems to know the right thing to do or say. I hate that she met such an abrupt and unexplored end.

If we are talking both BtVS and AtS then my favourite character would be Darla. OMG, that woman is amazing; she has such an amazing character arc and we get to see so many different sides of her. She is fierce, strong, independent, ruthless and hard with a great sense of self-preservation and an incredible depth to her. Another character who met their end too soon.

I adore Darla, too. She's in my top 5 favorite characters. She's really interesting and complex. I also think she's the most beautiful of all the female characters. I see a lot of hate towards her in the fandom, which I don't get.

It's so hard to pick one! I guess it's Buffy, because I love her so... Angel competes for that first place though as does Faith... it all depends on my mood I think. Post season 3 I think I'll give Faith a slight edge over Buffy though 🙂

Love your dp!
Many of the best episodes are centred on Spike. He is the source of humour and terror and is the only one with any apparent situational awareness about how other people are feeling. And he uses this for both preservation (as in "Pangs") and for nefarious purposes (as in "The Yoko Factor"). He is much better at applied psychology than Riley, who is a psych graduate (otherwise, he couldn't be a T.A.) or Dr. Walsh (who seems more intent on being the commander and pigeonholing rather than understanding people).

If I'm sticking strictly to BTVS then my favorite would be Tara. Shes kind, intelligent, mature, and has wonderful character progression as well as a sympathetic nature that makes me want to be a better person myself. My favorite character on ATS,and in the Buffyverse period is Wesley Wyndam Pryce. In my opinion Wesley is the greatest character Joss ever created and also the most amazingly well progressed character in the whole Buffyverse.
