I love watching the commentaries for the episodes because they are informative and, often, quite funny.

I was wondering which commentaries are people's favorites (either episodes or people doing them)? My favorite commentaries are the ones by Joss Whedon, he has a self-deprecating humor that cracks me up. My second favorite are the ones by Doug Petrie.

What are yours?

Joss Whedon is an amazing commontator!

its one of the things that makes me just want to go and write somthing :happy29:

the commentary for fireflys objects in space is perhaps the finest ever recorded !

I agree about Joss.. some of the writers/other people are all concerded with what they're saying. Like "oh, what can I tell you about this scene, ehh, well, this was kinda fun, but, I have to find something interesting to tell you about this, now, what can I say"... And that's not really interesting, but Joss just keeps talking about everything, and I find it very interesting and funny.
About the episodes... Well, I think the commentary for The Body is very interesting but it feels weird in some ways having someone talking while watching that episode.. just 'cause the episode is so good.. Eh, I don't know, I'll just have to agree that everything with Joss is good. Oh, and I just watched the commentary for Conversation With Dead People, it was quite good, might be 'cause there were lots of people commentating.. but they also had some things to say...

Definately Joss is a great commentator! {wow...sp?} I think he really puts the extra detail into it, because he is the one who knows these characters best, since, well, duh, he made them. But I loved a S4 epp....I forget which one...the one with Veruca...."New Moon Rising"?....When Seth Green was helpin Joss and Mart with the commentary...it was hilarious.

Marti Noxon was really annoying in the Whats My Line commentaries. I just started getting into the commentaries, but so far Joss is the best.

I'm jealous of you lucky NTSC-people.

I love the Marti Noxon/David Fury commentary on "Bargaining" They talk out the most useless things! Er...the Hells Bells commentary with Rebbeca Rand Kirishner and that other person...oo! what was his name!?

I rather liked the commentary for Fool for Love--it gave it a whole new depth that I had never knew before and for The Body because it confirmed everything I had been saying about the episode for months.

I have only watched the "Chosen" commentary. I did enjoy it. Joss was pretty entertaining.

That was actually 'Wild At Heart' where Oz left. It was rather funny, especially where they talk about how overtly sexual the show got in the sixth season.

David Solomon, the director of the episode. I haven't got to that one yet, because I like to watch the episode without the commentary first and I'm putting it off cause Xander leaving Anya at the alter is so upsetting.

The "Wild at Heart" one is very funny. Love the talk of a proposed time traveling wolf detective show and well just about everything. Shame it wasn't on the R2 DVDs, not even the big huge boxset.

With the exception of Buffy, Season 7, Disc 6, which I haven't watched yet I've heard all of Joss's commentaries.

There is one commentary where Joss goes beyond informative and tells you about himself and how he came to be who he is. And in doing so he's created a commentary like no other anywhere, raised commentary almost to an art form.

He doesn't skimp on the "inside" either. He discusses the episode in depth. He speaks on just about anything you'd wondered about it. All that too.

But I'll bet you haven't heard this one. "Objects in Space," the final episode of Firefly.

Wild At Heat is hands down the funniest commentary I've ever heard. The whole speed racer thing was hilarious and the time travelling wolf and just the whole damn thing. Joss's comentary on "Chosen" was also very good, just for his comments about how he thought Parker was Buffy's most important relationship.

I like Joss's commentaries the best but like the actor commentaries, like 'Wild at Heart; with Seth, but I especially loved the 'Dirty Girls' and 'Lies My Parents told Me' because Nicholas and James's voices make me swoon.
I like Firefly's 'Serenity' commentary.
But my favorite of all time is Joss's 'The Body' commentary.

The best commentaries are the Writer and Actor ones. The directors tend to be rather boring.

Joss Whedon is always good. So is Doug Petrie and Jane Espenson. Personal favorites Hush, Restless, Conversations with Dead People and on Angel Spin the Bottle.

Oh man... I love Joss's commentaries! The only problem is, he tends to comment on the episodes he directed and wrote..and those are the best, so it's tough to watch them with someone talking over them. Especially the Body and Hush, because I'm so used to Hush being essentially silent. Once More With Feeling is hard to watch with the commentary because I love the songs so much (being a musical geekazoid myself) and I start singing along and stop listening. 🙂 But my favorite commentaries are definetly Conversations With Dead People (one of my fave episodes), Hell's Bells (mostly because if I watch it with the commentary, I don't cry at the end) Wild At Heart and Fool for Love.

I have only actually watched the OMWF commentary, but that one is really cool. It was interesting to know that he had originally written a different song for Buffy's last solo. I am going to watch the commentary for Hush tonight.

I never watched any of the commentaries until recently, I started... I didn't see the point at first, and I felt like it would ruin my favorite episodes, which I'd watch to hear, not commentaries... But I got over myself 😛 And I started watching the commentaries... I've only seen 2 so far, both being Joss, and they were Hush and the Body... Incredible... You can learn so much about why they did what... I'm going to watch them all, even though I hear Joss' are always the best!

I haven't watched that many commentaries, but from the ones I've seen I think that the ones Joss did are very much the best. Joss and Alexis Denisof on Spin the Bottle is my favourite, I think.
