Band Candy is the pinnacle I adore that episode. I also think Earshot is underrated, but to be honest it's probably the best season overall IMO, so it's very hard to choose. The Wish is fantastic too. I recently rewatched Graduation Day Parts 1 and 2 and they were great, I loved how everyone in the school came together to fight the Mayor. The Mayor was one of the all time great baddies. 😀

Best Episode: Earshot

Ten other favorites:

Helpless
Amends
The Zeppo
Doppelgangland
Enemies
The Prom
Grad Day 1&2
Band Candy
Lover's Walk

Also, favorite LOL moment: End of Gingerbread (did I get it? did I get it?) tied with End of Earshot (Xander/Lunchlady stare-a-thon)

I find that a lot of people don't really like Anne, but it's one of my favorites because we see Buffy, alone, in this hectic environment where she can just disappear and be no one, and that's exactly what she wants. She doesn't want to feel, she doesn't want to do anything, she can't do anything. I love seeing her come out of her lonely life a little bit at a time when Chantarelle starts following her around. There are some great little scenes:

WOMAN: What are you doing?
BUFFY: Breaking through your office and going through your personal files.

all without turning around -- and she pulls the phone off the wall.

When the demon is going through the line of people and asking them who they are... they have to say "no one" or they receive physical pain. They get to Buffy... and she perks up and says "I'm Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, and you are?" I LOVE IT.

And then near the end:

BUFFY: Wanna see my impression of Gandhi?
...
CHANTARELLE: Gandhi?...

There are a lot of great moments in that episode and I feel it gets overlooked a lot.

The Prom is my favorite episode of Buffy. I find it has everything I like about the show wrapped into one: laughs, drama, tears, and touching moments that make the fight worth it.

I'd follow that up pretty closely with Graduation Day Pt. 1. I live for the Buffy x Faith showdown. Special shoutouts to Doppelgangland and Helpless.

I just watched The Prom, it makes me cry every time: when Buffy breaks down talking to Willow over her and Angel's breakup, when Buffy is given the Class Protector umbrella, when Angel arrives and Buffy and him dance, and they kind of nestle together like two little birds, and Willow and Oz are dancing in the background and Willow is stroking Oz's hair with her eyes closed, *sigh*.

There is also a glorious comedic moment when Wesley is asking about Giles' thoughts on asking Cordelia to dance, Giles responds "for god's sake man, she's 18, and you have the emotional maturity of a blueberry scone. Just have at it would you, and stop fluttering about". Ahahahahahaha. ASH's inflection is so perfect.

Also, Jonathan's face when he gives Buffy the umbrella is really sweet, but I swear there is something about Xander's reaction that is lacking - though perhaps that's down to Nicholas Brendon's acting rather than the actual emotion of the character.

The Zeppo, Bad Girls, and Homecoming are all amazing too. My number one favourite is definitely Helpless, though. It's amazing as a horror piece, but the emotional moments are so genuine. SMG does wounded-ness really well, you really feel for her.

Yet to watch the Graduation double in my S3 rewatch, though.
