We all have our favorite episodes of the 'Verse, but I would also like to know what are your favorite episodes of all time from any TV show. The ones that made a huge impact on you, or just one that was inventive, or ground-breaking, or just plain amazing. You can can name one episode of any of the four Joss shows, but this thread is for those other shows nearest and dearest to your heart as well. Name the episode titles as well as the shows, and explain a little bit as to why.

Restless, "BtVS": I've explained my love for this episode more times than one on these boards, so no need for rehashing. It was just a mind-blowingly amazing hour of television, with more depth than a Psychology book.

Not Fade Away, "Angel": The best possible finale you could give a show like this. And the ending was pitch perfect. The good fight is always a constant struggle, and you've got to keep on fighting the good fight, no matter what the obstacles are (sure, my obstacles aren't large dragons, but hey, it's the metaphor that counts.)

Out Of Gas, "Firefly": My favorite episode of Firefly, and one that cemented my love for the show. It showed how these characters join the crew of Serenity, and my oh my, was it glorious to watch.

The Attic, "Dollhouse": The first episode of this series that left my jaw hanging to the floor. I've never been more floored by an episode of DH. It touched the inner minds of these characters through dreams, in the way "Restless" did, and I love it probably just as much.

Donut Run, "Veronica Mars": Mysteries are always a tricky thing to pull of, but VM managed to keep us guessing episode after episode. This episode, while not a main arc installment, gave me my biggest "WTF" reaction out of any series. Veronica gets arrested as an accomplice for the kidnapping of an abused child, and there are twists and turns at every turn. I thought I knew what would happen, but I felt completely and utterly dumb by the end of the episode. The writers were completely smarter than me, and I couldn't be more thankful.

The Fly, "Breaking Bad": It's a love it or hate it episode. Some think it's pointless and boring, others think it's thought provoking and genius. And genius it is. It's a testament to the show to have the two main characters basically spend the episodes talking to each other, in the same place, for 40 minutes straight, all while trying to catch a fly. Sounds stupid huh? As the episode goes on, one character's need to kill a fly turns into something deeper, more meaningful, and it wouldn't be awesome if it wasn't for the amazing chemistry those two characters had.

With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept, "One Tree Hill": I was obsessed with OTH back in the day, and this episode, centered around a school shooting, haunts me forever. Especially the ending. It was the most talked about event at that time, with one of the most talked about character deaths (even to this day) and I will never forget it.

There is no other show in the world with the sincere heart of OTH and never was it showcased more than this ep. This was importnat TV. It still is.
It'd way too hard for me to think of my all my favorite episodes, but I gotta give a shout out to "The Fly". I loved the symbolism in that episode, and it was so different from any other BB episode.

Either the live show of Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps "When Johnny Met Sharky",

"The One With Monica and Chandler's Wedding",

or "Past, Present, Future" from Casualty.

The first episode that comes to mind is "Bastille Day" in RDM's Battlestar Galactica. It is the first episode with Tom Zarek and it has some incredible political themes. Also "Once More with Feeling", "You're Welcome" and "Guise Will Be Guise" also rank very high

Oh good lord. Um...

OMWF, Buffy

A Study in Pink, Sherlock

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Torchwood

My Lunch/My Fallen Idol, Scrubs

Homecoming, Smallville

World's Best Couple, How I Met Your Mother

Something Good Coming, Cougar Town

Those are probably the most notable of my favorite episodes of television ever. But they're certainly not all of them. When you watch as much TV as I do, the list of "favorite TV episodes" goes on for pages.

Xena <3 ugh the final episode *cries*
I don't watch that many shows, and with most of them I can't separate the episodes apart. I love all of Arrested Development and Oz but I can't say which episodes specifically. And it's that way with most shows. These are the ones that stand out I guess.

The Simpsons: The Way We Was
I think Homer and Marge are one of the greatest TV couples, so this is one my favorite episodes from the show.

30 Rock: Queen of Jordan
It's one of the funniest episodes I've ever seen.

Reno 911!: Pilot.
I remember watching this episode for the first time, I ended up watching the entire series in a week. It's insane how funny it is.

ALF? Oh no you di-ent! :)
My favorite episodes of television (I'm gonna make myself pick only one from my favorite shows)

Five by Five/Sanctuary (Angel) - Ok I lied I couldn't pick one but these two have to go together. The end scene in Five by Five is one of my favorite scenes in all of television. But the Faith scenes throughout of all Sanctuary are just so heartbreaking. I dont understand how anyone could hate Faith after watching Sanctuary.

Fracture (Smallville) - LEXY!!! *cries* This episode is so amazing. Its my second favorite episode of Smallville ever but definitely the best episode ever. Getting inside Lex's head, literally, was so heartbreaking and haunting. To see this little boy frightened and alone fighting against himself to stay alive was just so sad.

Journey's End (Doctor Who) - This episode is amazing. The whole last three episodes of the season were. Bringing all the doctors companions together one last time with Ten was so great to see.

With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept (One Tree Hill) I have to agree this is definitely one of the best hours of television ever. They really showed how devastating a school shooting can be.

Time Stands Still (Degrassi) - If I put One Tree Hill's school shooting up there I have to put this one because this one was the one I saw when it aired and I was in highschool and it terrified me. I grew up with Degrassi and these characters.

Kill Ari (NCIS) - This episode will forever break my heart but it's done so well. So often they kill off characters and it feels pointless and messy and overdone. But this doesn't feel that way. I loved Kate but the introduction of Ziva and Kate's image or spirit parting with her friends is all so beautiful.

What a Difference a Day Makes
(Grey's Anatomy) There are so many episodes to choose from and definitely more dramatic ones I almost chose 'Now or Never' Sanctuary/Death and All His Friends' but this one to me is perfect. It's not trying to be dramatic or keep you at the edge of your seat. It focuses on the characters and just for one moment they all stop and are happy.

Awesome thread. I think, for me at least, there would be some recency bias.

BTVS OMWF, Conversations with Dead People, Tabula Rasa
Angel Through the Looking Glass/There's No Place Like Plrtz Glrb (seeing Joss dance totally worth it)
Firefly Out of Gas
The League Mr. McGibblets, Bro-Lo El Cunado
Misfits Christmas Special (if only for Nathan and Marnie's love dialogue and the wrong-est birth scene ever filmed)
Veronica Mars Rat Saw God (gotta love an ep with Joss in it)
Mad Men Nixon vs. Kennedy
BSG Kobol's Last Gleaming
House Both Sides Now
The Office Fire Drill
Fox News Sunday Sept. 19, 2010 (ok, j/k)

With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept (One Tree Hill) - as others have said: easily one of the most moving episodes of television I have ever watched. One Tree Hill had a heart like no other television show.

To Green, With Love (Dawson's Creek) - this episode still gives me goosebumps. Absolutely love when Principal Green walks down the hallway at the end.

I know there's tons more but I'm ill and they escape me right now 😛

It may not have been the best show ever, but I definitely agree that OTH had heart. Actually, it was all heart. Mark Scwahn doesn't get enough props for that.
I'd be hard to choose specific episodes, but I can tell you what some of my all-time favorite shows are other than BtVS.

Queer as Folk
Glee
Supernatural
Nip/Tuck
Six Feet Under

I love me some Queer As Folk, Glee, & Supernatural! :)
Hmmm...as far as having a strong connection to a certain dynamic or over all message...

BtVS- The Body, Seeing Red, Beneath you (end), Story Teller, Touched...so many really.

Criminal Minds- Pretty much any Spencer Reid episode. His episodes most always move me to tears.

Glee- Funeral. I love Jane Lynch to pieces.
