Favorite Movie

If you could pick one movie out of all that you have seen as your all time favorite, what would it be?

Mine would be John Wayne's "The Alamo," because it combines my favorite actor (Wayne), with my favorite genre (the western), with what has always been a fascinating subject for me (the "13 days of glory" that marked one of the really great events in the history of the Old West: the siege and battle of the Alamo).

That's so hard to pick! Out of all my favorite movies which is my favoritist? hehe.

Erm....I think it's a toss between Heathers and An Affair to Remember (And only the Cary Grant/Deborah Kerr version. Hated both the earlier and later Love Affair- blah!). But I'll probably lean more to An Affair to Remember. Favorite actors in it AND it's a romance and I'm a sucker for the genre, I'll admit it. Hehe.

I'd have a hard time picking my single favorite even within genres. I can usually pick like a top 5 by genre, though. For instance:

Westerns
Shane
Stagecoach (the original, with John Wayne)
The Magnificent Seven (the original)
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
Silverado

okay, I have two all-time favourite movies, is that allowed?
Pirates of the Caribbean and Cruel Intentions, it's just to hard to chose.
I can't even nail down what exactly I like about these movies, I just do.

white avenger agrees: All great westerns. Have you ever seen "valdez Is Coming," with Burt Lancaster? Not a classic, but definitely worth seeing.

I saw it years ago, but for some reason, I don't remember much about it. Which is strange, as I can remember nearly every film or TV episode I've ever seen...

I'm being completely serious...but Robin Hood: Men in Tights.

Sure, it's not high brow....it's not even medium brow. But I really, completely, love this movie.

But okay...Singing in the Rain is also one of my absolute favourites. The reason I like musicals really.

Its a Wonderful Life, closely followed by Empire Strikes Back and Shawshank Redemption.

1. Airplane!
2. Ghostbusters
3. The Naked Gun
4. Kentucky Fried Movie

All of the above are laugh out loud funny,have good plots-and in the case of Airplane and NG,if you don't get one joke,don't worry...another one's on the way soon enough.

5. The Matrix

Before it got bogged down in plot frackups in the other two movies,this first of the trilogy was a quantum leap in terms of technology,jaw-dropping stunt,and it wasn't afraid to use philosophy as a basis for its story-telling.

The Girl Next Door is still my favorite movie. I always enjoy watching it plus what the story is trying to say is beautiful and sweet.

Honestly i love alot of movies but my all time favorite is A Walk to Remember i just love it, it always makes me cry even though i've seen it hundreds of times...

I'm glad you agree but techincally the 1957 An Affair to Remember was a remake of the 1930s Love Affair. So sometimes remakes can blow the originals out of the water. *pauses* Okay, so it's happened this one time.....

So true! I can't think of a better movie, that I own. I've watched this particular movie 5 or 6 times and have never not enjoyed it. I'm sure there are better movies, but this is definitely My Favorite.
