I voted Chosen. I know the "Can't stand up, will stand up." scene is too cheesy, but I love Buffy. Maybe it's because BtVS has the most seasons on TV so I'm connected to it the most. It's good to see Buffy and her friends being so happy in the end. And the name of the episode is SO connected to the series. Plus, there's so many scenes that Faith and Buffy share eye contacts. *shuts my Fuffy mouth*

Well, I feel like Chosen has happy ending. But Not Fade Away, Serenity and Epitaph Two, not so happy. I love every Jossverse series finales, actually. My list goes like this.

1.Chosen 2.Epitaph Two 3.Not Fade Away 4.Serenity

'Epitaph Two' hands down.

Dollhouse has rapidly become my favourite of Joss' shows, and before you ask; nope I still can't explain why 😉. I think it wrapped up its story better than the others (not seen Firefly though) and I was pretty much completely satisfied with everything that happened.

So much so, that I still struggle to talk about it without becoming a blabbering idiot. You never know, in a few months I might be able to say something worthwhile! 😛

Hey look, I agree with you about something! ;) Have seen all of Dollhouse except the finale and I love it sooooo much!
I have to say chosen. Just for the Spike/Buffy scene where they're holding hands and they catch on fire. Also, when giles mentions the other hellmouth in cleveland, and Faith is like "i want to sleep for days yo." funny scene.
So i guess my real reason for choosing it is that it has everything from funny to dramatic.

Epitah two for sure. 😉 Then Chosen.
I agree with Flannen, it's hard to put into actual words on how great it is. Ha.
It wrapped up amazingly, even if it were a little rushed. I'd deffo give it a 10/10 though. 🙂

I only have the finale left of Dollhouse, which I'll watch tonight probably. Then I'll vote. I loved Chosen SO SO SO much, and I actually really loved Not Fade Away too. The end was perfect for me, a non-comic reader. I usually like things wrapped up, but I seriously laughed out loud at the excellence of that ending. But as of right now, Chosen for sure. I loved Serenity too, but it was a let down for me. That show was so amazing, and for him to have to wrap up what could have been many seasons of fabulous TV in 2 hours was so depressing to me. I don't expect to like the Dollhouse finale more than Chosen, but it's possible. I love Dollhouse so much and have considered bombing Fox in retribution for their idiotic decision to cancel it (not really - don't report me to the FBI - I exaggerate).

I agree with all that you said ^.^
Its always going to be Not Fade Away for me. It was so epic! I've watched that episode too many times to count and I'm still balling at the end. I love the cutoff at the end, I love Illyria, I love it all 🙂 Its hard to put into words why I love it so much. I'm just happy that they went out fighting and as heros, because after the journey they took us on, they deserved too.

Epitaph is a VERY close second. It too, was epic. It was and was not realistic. It was heartbreaking, breathtaking, nerve racking, joss worthy and fab. But Not Fade away still wins 😉

I voted for "Epitaph Two: Return" primarily because it's the one what I have seen, obviously, for the first time the most recently, and also because, with its first half, it makes a nice movie length finale to the series. In addition to that, I can see enough similarities between it and "Chosen," that when Echo has her rant about Paul after he is killed, I have no trouble whatsoever superimposing Sarah in Eliza's place voicing her regrets about not being able to tell Spike about her true feelings until it's too late. Whether you're a Spuffy supporter and believed that Buffy was IN LOVE with Spike, or whether you're something else and just believe that he was her best friend during that last season, I think that a scene like that would have been an appropriate ending for the season. Even though her actions in a dozen scenes confirmed her feelings for him, Buffy never actually said the words, not until it was too late, and she really should have. I believe that Spike earned it, Buffy felt it, and I always felt a bit cheated that we never saw it. (And I would love, someday, to ask Joss if he ever thought about that when he wrote the scene) We had a "Goodbye" scene for Angel, a "Goodbye" scene for Riley, but never a real "Goodbye" scene for Spike.

I actually, honestly, did not intend to turn this into a Spuffy rant, and I really don't think that I have, but I do believe that that one scene nailed the series ending perfectly for me, and it would have worked equally well at the end of the Buffy series. I've always been a sucker for a scene like that. So, shoot me, berate me, or roll your eyes at me. That's my favorite finale, and those are my reasons.

I voted Not Fade Away. Such an epic episode, so many great parts in it. I didn't like the ending too much the first time I watched it, but I've went back and watched it and now I love it.

And I see your sig is from that ep!
Not Fade Away for me (Tiny spolier alert so avert your eyes if you haven't seen Angel Season 5). It was an ending that summed up the spirit of the show and, unlike Buffy with its introduction of new characters in its final season, everyone involved had been with the show, or in the Buffyverse, for many years giving it a greater sense of immediacy as we see the outcomes of their individual actions. Plus, I have to admit a liking for the Godfatheresque ending too - of all the characters' storylines in this episode it isn't Wesley's that hit home hardest but it was Lorne's scene with its heartfelt pathos - great programme making from all concerned.

I voted for Not Fade Away, because I love how it was a cliff hanger. However I found 'Chosen' gave me the biggest withdrawal symtoms. Ever.

I chose not fade away, let me go into each episode, why i didnt pick it and why i picked not fade away. Why you ask kind reader,Because im overly verbose

Chosen -Chosen to me is one of those episodes i go back and forth on,its one of those I love buffy but i only have like two reasons why i like the episode beyond me screaming DUDE ITS BUFFY! . I love spikes end,its beautiful, its poignant. But to me thats a problem with the episode,When the show is called buffy the vampire slayer and your first thought when it ends is MAN I MISS SPIKE then i dont know if it succeeds, especially for a season finale. its an episode i kinda like but honestly i accept that my reasons for liking it are pretty stupid and i dont think its a particularly good episode.

Serenity -as far as the list, its my second favorite. Look id launch into a typical wordy rant but c'mon lets face it,serenity just rules.

Epitath Two: Return -Because ive been a bad little boy and havent seen it.

And for my pick for best series finale ever,do a drum roll,c'mon feign i havent told you. hey dont be so ungrateful. Dont you know who I am? Im pryce! Im super famous ok!

Not Fade Away-If you were to come up to a younger more impressionable me,Id be like..Wait so that annoying watcher guy becomes hardcore? And he did. I think that angel was a way more consistant show with way more of a consistant arc,and everybody i felt got the ending that fit the character.
Lindsey-Really is not part of the solution, never will be. He's evil, insecure and a closet angel fanboy but above all hes not nearly as important to angel as angel is to him. all of those points are hit home, right down to him in his dying moments proving everything that has ever been said about him.
Connor-Finally got to be a normal kid
Gunn-Regained who he was
Lorne-Ok,Not everyone gets a happy ending,Lorne got broken. its sad but lets face it,as a virtue of who lorne is,it was inevitable. He is unjudgemental and impartial.
Wesley-Dies the way doyle did, making a sacrifice so the good fight can happen. full circle. He gets put out of his misery. Its a beautiful sequence
Ilyria-Got to make violence.
Angel-Never gave up fighting. In my mind,He won.

The finale summed up what the show is about, always fighting. It succeeds because while watching it you get the feeling that everything before it has been setting it up. Its part of a complete picture. i think from the begining to the end its perfect. Yeah that was long,Im sorry i just fangasmed so much over not fade away. it'd be worse if i fangasmed over never kill a boy on the first date or something. yeah, owens totally the love of buffys life.

I've only seen "Chosen" and "Not Fade Away", but of those two I voted for "Chosen". I just loved the message of empowerment it gave, and I liked how it ended on a happy note. Buffy and the others definitely deserved that after all they'd been through@

I really enjoyed Not Fade Away.

Granted, out of the list above, I've only seen it and Chosen... but between the two, I definitely pick Not Fade Away. It left me feeling hopeful somehow even though my two favorite characters had died -- Fred in a previous episode, and Wesley in the finale -- but it just made my heart swell.

On the other hand, Chosen left me irritated and upset.

Interesting. For me it was the opposite. I felt closure with "Chosen" and irritated with 'Not Fade Away.' In time, though, I learned to appreciate the later, and I came to realize that it really "stood" for what the show meant; never stop fighting. Which, of course, is how the show ended. Very fitting.

Yup i was irritated too with NFA, but i learned to accept it too. ^.^
I voted Not Fade Away. It was kinda dark and depressing but hopeful at the same time. And that was a ballsy way to finish a show, I loved it.

I think a more accurate title for this thread would be "Best SERIES Finale." But that's not particularly relevant. 😛

I'm going to go with Chosen, not because I necessarily thinks it's a better episode than the others, but because it brought an end to such a huge part of my life. *gets sniffy* I gave Buffy the best 5 months of my life and that's what I get for it! Except that I go back and rewatch all the time... not the point. Chosen just had such a huge impact on me and it really felt like an End, if you know what I mean.
Plus, I really love the idea of all these girls everywhere getting up and being Slayers.

I ended up voting for Chosen. I just love it so much. But the Dollhouse finale was really awesome too. And I love Not Fade Away. Serenity was probably my least favorite of the 4. The first three are all very close.
