Favorite Shipping?

in reply to the question about the giles/xander shipping (i guess i felt the urge to defend myself!) there's something about the xander/giles thing that just seems interesting... almost like the dynamics between an old gay man and his young 'handbag' and crossed with the similar dynamic between giles/buffy but without that weird father daughter relationship lurking in the background. i love the way they work on screen together. there's a certain awkwardness there, and also a few things about they interact that reminds me of the best of relationships... i guess the way that giles can snap at xander when he very rarely would at buffy or willow. as spike says - you always hurt the one you love!

Huh. To each his own, I guess. To be honest, that pairing never once occurred to me. I could see a Giles/Ethan pairing. It was pretty heavily implied that Giles/Ethan had a personal history beyond killing that friend of theirs in service to that demon. I could easily see that history expanded to include sex. I mean, the Buffyverse is a pretty sexy place. Stick around long enough, and you're bound to sleep with someone. Also, I would agree that if Xander were going to experiment with another man, it would be either Giles or Oz. I mean, who else can he stand? He hates Angel and Spike! lol. So maybe under the right circumstances... but, really, I think Lorne would be Xander's best bet. Xander's still a demon magnet, right? Giles is too human for him. 🙂

I do think they have an interesting, good relationship (Giles and Xander). I don't think I'd object to sexifying that one as strongly as I would to Buffy/Giles. Then again, I am firmly in the Giles-is-the-most-attractive-man-in-the-Buffyverse camp, so maybe it's just easy for me to wrap my mind around any and every character finally realizing and acting upon that. lol.


Hey... while we're talking about Giles... what does everyone think about a Giles/Faith pairing? I won't talk about comic spoilers here except to say that Giles and Faith have been spending a lot of time together in the comics. Along with the reformed baddie history, they have more of a partnership between equals vibe going. Since they lack the father/daughter vibe, that's sort of making me wonder whether or not a Giles/Faith pairing would be viable. What do you guys think?

Giles is definitely the most attractive man in the Buffyverse... maybe thats why i like the pairing with xander... dont wanna see Giles with another woman... hehehe.

I would much more like to see a Faith-Buffy pairing, lol
forever and always a Buffy/Angel fan, I was 14 when they got together so, they were in love, her mother didn't like him, and he was the hot, mysterious older guy - i was hooked. Then as it all developed into the deeper and mythic love story I found myself falling deeper into love with the coupling. It's all about them, the whole beginnings of the show was about Buffy learning about sacrifices and her two biggest sacrifices were her own life and her love for Angel - you can't deny that.
Also, great heapings of love for Willow/Tara - there was something so sweet and earnest about these two together that I can't help but 'ship them.
 
As I think almost everyone knows-- my favourite ship is STILL Buffy/Angel. It was the first ship I was a fan of, the center of first fanfic I got serious about writing, the pairing in 90% of any fanfiction I read, and I still love the characters. I think it was a very real-to-life relationship for Buffy's age (right down to the part that it didn't work out), and although the characters don't officially get back together, I like to think that if the show continued, they would eventually. Think there's just no other way for it to go.

And I love Buffy/Spike as friends, think they became very close, very dear friends in the end. But don't like them romantically involved.
 
Willow/Tara in the Canon.

Outside of Canon, the not-so-subtly hinted at "might have been" Fred/Willow ("Orpheus"), and, though it may make some of you cringe, Giles/Willow - there was a time during Buffy Season 2 where I actually thought this might come to pass on screen... besides, Gillow & Frillow really make good abbreviations, don't they? :winking15

Yeah, so I'm a Willow-fanatic. Sue me. ^^
