What are your favorite ships or OTPs?

I don't have a lot of movie OTPs (my favorite movies rarely involve romance), but usually when I'm watching a show there is one ship I get attached to. Occasionally, I get obsessed with a pairing (*cough* Buffy/Angel).

My favorite ships are:

1. Buffy/Angel (never has a ship made me feel or obsess this much). However, they're tied with Neo/Trinity (The Matrix), because those two have the most perfect relationship ever and I've been in love with those characters since I was a little girl.
2. Hood/Carrie (Banshee), tied with Wesley/Lilah and Olivia/Peter (Fringe).
3. Adam/Eve (Only Lovers Left Alive). I've only watched that movie once, but their love story is beautiful.

I can't resist mentioning:

4. George/Lucille/Oscar (Arrested Development) - this complicated love triangle (and the individual relationships) is hilarious! Lucille is one of my fave characters ever. I love that she's a 60 year old woman in touch with her sexuality ("Mama horny Michael.", "I want to cry so bad, but I don't think I can spare the moisture." lol). Lucille is smarter, funnier, classier than all the other Arrested Development characters. She's so badass!

I love intense, pure love in uncomplicated relationships (Neo/Trinity, Olivia/Peter, Adam/Eve) as much as I love intense, pure love in complicated, painships (Buffy/Angel, Hood/Carrie). Wes/Lilah are the love/hate relationship that I'm not as drawn to usually, but is so heartfelt and well-written!

Ships that I like/used to like: Eric/Sookie (Sookie is an awful character but I shipped those two bad back when I loved True Blood), Mal/Inara, Don/Sloan (The Newsroom), Lydia/Stiles (Teen Wolf). I've been in love with so many ships that I can't keep track of them all. I'm surely forgetting tons of couples.

Spike/Drusilla
Rumple/Belle
Loki/Nebula- These two have not interacted on screen yet (though they could have off screen) but I think they have things in common- sibling jealousy being one of them.

Had to google two of those ;)
I'm not really a 'shipper' (& I had to google OTP). I have a few favorite couples, tho. In order:
Jessie & Katie (Once & Again)
Willow & Tara
Josh & Donna (West Wing)

Lol. I used to be like you (I didn't know what OTP meant until recently).
I don't like to think of myself as a "shipper", because from my experience, that word is often thrown around in conversations about how "this episode sucked because my favorite ship broke up" or "this episode was great because my favorite ship got together", and that just seems silly to me - stories are not about relationships. And if they are, they usually suck. That said, I obviously have relationships I love...

My favorite Buffy "ship" is Buffy/Spike, because I love how WRONG it was. Stories thrive on conflict, and that relationship had more conflict than any other. It also helped that Buffy and Spike are two of my favorite characters, and that SMG and James Marsters are two of the best actors in the Whedonverse, and that the writers always made sure to take EVERY risk in that story, and that that story took the trope of "bad boy falls in love with saintly girl and turns good for her" and completely broke it and rebuilt it from scratch.

That said - if someone asked me what my OTP for Buffy is (assuming that OTP means "the person she should end up with"), the only correct answer would be Satsu. Come on, all of these vampires have way too much baggage and bad history! If you want Buffy to be happy, your best bet is Satsu, by far. Sure, there's the whole orientation thing as a challenge, but compared to the challenges that all of Buffy's other relationships have ("hey, remember that time you scarred me mentally for life?" "Hey, remember that time you metaphorically cheated on me and then blamed me for it?" "hey, remember that time you tried to rape me?" "hey, remember that time you DID rape me, via body-switch?"), it's a piece of cake. As sad as it sounds, Batsu was BY FAR the healthiest relationship that Buffy ever had. Also, Satsu is just adorable.

I also love ALL of Xander's ships (Xillow, Xandelia, Xanya, Bander, Dander... LOL ship names). And Willow's ships are great too.

I think my fave non-canon ship is Wesley/Faith. They're just so fascinating whenever they're together!

And I fell in love with Wesley/Fred based on 'Life of the Party' alone (I LOVE DRUNK PEOPLE!). And Wesley/Lilah were great too, although a little more cliched than I'd like (come on, they're totally a film-noir cliche - The broody dark hero and the femme-fatale).

And it took me a long time to really get the appeal of Spike/Dru, but then we got that scene in 'Selfless', in which Spike is talking to fake!Buffy in the basement about Dru, and suddenly it just CLICKED for me. Weird. I enjoy Spike/Dru a lot more in rewatches.

I also have an insane amount of love for Topher/Bennet, from Dollhouse.

There aren't really a lot of non-Whedonverse ships that I really love...

I did love Tony Stark and Pepper, and Steve Rogers and Peggy, And Tyrion Lannister and Shae, and Jamie Lannister and Brienne, and Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, and Dexter and Rita.

I agree with you about Buffy/Satsu.

How good was the actor who played Victors performance of Topher!
Faith/Buffy is one of my top otps (if not number one). I love Rayanne/Sharon from My So-Called Life. I also really like a lot of twisted girl/girl movie relationships like Pauline and Juliet from Heavenly Creatures, Suzie and Kelly from Wild Things, Jennifer and Needy from Jennifer's Body, etc. If it's twisted, gay and usually ends in death I'm there! Also Mike/Eleven from Stranger Things!

Buffyverse:
Wesley/Lilah (Angel)

And beyond:
Debra/Quinn (Dexter)
Jim/Pam (The Office)
Christopher/Adriana (The Sopranos)
Kate/Sawyer (Lost)
Seth/Summer (The OC)
Mulder/Scully (The X-Files)
Charlie/Dee (Always Sunny)
Cooper/Audrey (Twin Peaks)
David/Keith (Six Feet Under)
Andy/April (Parks and Recreation)
Kim/Jimmy (Better Call Saul)

I'm actually shipping Cruella and Mordred (JM's character) in OUAT. Talk about chemistry.

Every time I make one of these lists I always end up forgetting someone awesome and then kicking myself.

For Whedonverse:
Spike/Buffy 😀

Others:
Mulder/Scully from X-Files
Zuko/Katara from Avatar
Jamie/Claire from Outlander books

And I think I'm starting to ship Eighth Doctor/Charley. Which is weird. I've never shipped in audio before. And sometimes I feel weird shipping Doctor/Anyone. I'm not sure why I feel that way. . .

I like a lot of tv relationships, Jessica/Luke, Jim/Pam, but Buffy/Spike is the only one I am really invested in. Through the comics I have come to love the Xander/Dawn pairing

I was watching an episode of Frasier earlier, the one where Niles confesses his love for Daphne, and it made me remember that back in the day I was such a massive Niles/Daphne shipper. That episode still gives me the feels! 🙂

Tara/Willow
Buffy/Faith
Anne Bonny/Max/Rackham (Black Sails)
Cosima/Delphine (Orphan Black)
Daenerys/Drogo, although now I would like to see some Daenerys/Asha (Yara) (Game of Thrones)
Korra/Asami (The Legend of Korra)

I'm sure there's plenty more, those are just the ones I'm watching now.

Genuinely thought this was going to be about space ships. Warhammer 40K ships all the way.

I don't appreciate TV romances much. They tend to take focus away from aspects of the show I find more interesting. I occasionally want a couple of characters to get together but when they do they tend to lose interesting parts of their relationships. I liked Wesley/Fred though in part because it added to the tragedy.

Just for you then - Emperor Class Battleship ;)
I like a lot of ships, but for me to get really invested in ship and not give up on it I have to genuinely like both characters as individuals and the dynamic that evolves between them because of that throughout the entire series (even if there are times I want to ring their necks for doing idiotic things). So there is really only two pairings that do this for me and I'm pretty equally obsessed with both of them.

(BtVS): Buffy & Angel
I have never been so obsessed with a ship. I almost did not want to continue the show after he left. I felt as heartbroken as Buffy, it was embarrassing, lol. Buffy and Angel are very complex and dynamic characters on their own and when you bring them together it just makes for even more complexity. They both are burdened with their "gifts" and no one really understands how they feel except each other. They both are shut off from the world and keep their feelings locked inside, except with each other they open up and allow themselves to be vulnerable. They both have a hero complex, a lightness and a darkness in their nature. Plus, their chemistry is off the charts! They just have this epic forbidden love that is just undeniable, passionate, heartwarming, yet heartbreaking and incredibly sad all rolled into one.

(Veronica Mars): Veronica and Logan
This is the other ship I got surprisingly obsessed with. They start off as enemies and I kind of hated Logan for how he treated Veronica. But, when they explore his character more you get more insight on why he is the way he is. These two are also very multi-faceted. They are both so broken by their past hardships and tragedy. They seem to only find comfort in each other. But her unwillingness to let anyone get close to her for fear of being hurt or abandoned and his constant self-destruction cause a pretty unhealthy dynamic between them but for some electrifying chemistry and fundamental understanding of each other. They work well as lovers, friends, or enemies. Their quip is amazing. I love how snarky they are with each other and at the same time so loving. It's just endearing that they both tried normal, but they kept being drawn back in. They literally cannot quit each other even if they try. Their love is epic- Spanning years and continents, lives ruined, bloodshed, EPIC.

Buffy/Angel (BtVS/AtS)
Finn/Rachel (Glee)
Santana/Brittany (Glee)
Jeff/Annie (Community)
Jon/Ygritte (Game of Thrones)
Ephram/Amy (Everwood)

Those are the biggest canon ships I have.

I know this ship is very popular and I watched the first season of VM, but... The last episodes of the season were kind of terrible. Veronica accused everyone she knew of murder and rape, forgave Logan but then ran out of his house because of the hidden camera 🙄 (she spies on people without remorse, but doesn't let Logan explain himself), then she accused him of murdering Lilly without really interrogating him and with minimal evidence... In the first episode of s2 they were together for some reason (the guy doesn't have a lot of pride when it comes to Veronica) but we find out she's dating Duncan again?! What is with that show? And why is Veronica a special snowflake who's forgiven for everything? She assumes that she cared the most about a bff she had for a year and had the right to judge and sentence whomever she wanted! She's so vindictive and false, and she uses people. I'm finding it very hard to understand why people like Veronica and the LoVe ship. Since you've seen all of VM, maybe you can explain 😉

Willow and Tara my ultimate OTP of all time
Lily and Marshall (HIMYM)
Naomi and Emily (Skins UK)
Ted and Tracy (HIMYM)
Ted and Robin (HIMYM)
Piper and Alex (OITNB)

Carol and Daryl (TWD)
