Favorite Shows That Didn't Make The Cut

I was totally gutted when Veronica Mars ended, one of my all time favourite shows ever!

I know same here! (though I saw the trailers and whatnot for season 4 and I'm not sure I would have liked that new setting)

Oh and your list reminded me of "The Others", I really liked that show.

Life As We Know It

I forgot this one. Anyone remember it?

My so called life is amazing
Roswell is by far one of my favorite series ever I actually found this one less cheesy out of the bunch lol.

My Own Worst Enemy (first aired in 2008, starring Christian Slater).

I think it was cancelled after about six episodes, and ended with a cliff-hanger and without resolution. I still get angry thinking about it.
It felt pretty interesting. I would have loved it to continue.

6 episodes is hardly enough time for a series to get into gear and grab a fanbase. It seems ridiculous to me that they didn't even give the show more time or at least provide a conclusion, that must have been really frustrating.

I totally agree but this happens way too often. Some shows doesn't even get that many episodes believe it or not.

I'm suprised Randy Giles didn't mention this one. I loved this show. It was on after I'd go to bed so I'd set my alarm to get up and watch it.

*DOLLHOUSE!!! omg I cried and cried watching the finale I was so pissed at fox for canceling it
*Tru Calling Another Eliza show fox cancelled theyre so mean to her lol
*Firefly
*Joan of Arcadia

Oh and I liked Michelle Trachtenbergs new show Mercy but that got cancelled after only one season Idk if they even aired the whole season.

totally agree, and oh Joan of Arcadia! I loved that show
Off the top of my head, the British Sit-com Fawlty Towers was great, but it only aired for one season. By the time I found out about it (early nineties), it had already been off the air for years, but yeah.

But yeah, Rome, Firefly, and Veronica Mars (though admittedly I didn't get a chance to watch two much of any of these, though I know that I eventually will.)

OMG I love Fawlty Towers!

Only 12 episodes but it's still 2 seasons. More of it hadn't been wrong though. I wonder why it went off the air though. If the ones making the show thought it was enough or if it got cancelled.

I don't know for definite but I think they just decided to stop it and not let it descend into something far from what it was at the outset.

John Cleese and Connie Booth, who wrote and acted in it, were going through a divorce by the second season but I've never heard of that being a reason. I love the fact it's so short, it makes me appreciate it so much more and it was consistently awesome!

Aren't brits much better at this? Compared to americans at least who seem to drag things on forever if they get the chance.

I agree with you except for um...Dr Who? LOL

For the most part, I'd say yes. Gavin and Stacey is another one that just said, 'we're stopping now' and that had three seasons of six episodes (I think). Only Fools and Horses kind of goes against this but it was only the specials that got tiresome.

But I'd also say that TV as an industry is very different between the US and the UK and I do think that has something to do with it.

I think it's because we don't generally have the whole "network" phenomenon that rules American TV. We pay a licence fee to the BBC, which means it has a constant source of income that isn't dependent on ratings, so shows like Fawlty Towers don't carry nearly as much risk. It puts control a LOT more in the hands of the creators, rather than the network.

This. lol, this is pretty much what I was going to go into when I said the UK and US television industry work differently but I would not have said as succinctly as this so I'm glad I left it you! 😉

Haha, just after I posted, I saw that it led on nicely from your point. We make a good (unintentional!) team!
Why are people listing Veronica Mars and Roswell? Those shows made the cut because they lasted three or more seasons. Even though I do miss Roswell. I thought that plot about the evil ailens was great, especially the episode where the towns people all disappear because of that rod thing.

Besides Tru Calling, I would definitely say Point Pleasant. I loved that show and watch the DVDS at least twice or three times a year still. Also, this dumb reality tv show on syfy called Mad Mad House. lol

Yep. That's the one.
Two shows I feel didnt get a fair run were Arrested Developmen (so funny it needed way more that 3 seasons)

And Better Off Ted!! Did anyone else watch this show?? it was the funniest thing I had seen on TV for a long time but it got cancelled after two 13 ep seasons! I was gutted

The Lone Gunmen-spin off from the X-Files. It only lasted one season, but I loved it!

Firefly of course
