I was just wondering: What are some of your favorite vampire films/TV shows other than Jossverse stuff?? Have you read any vampire fiction?

My favorite vampire-themed film would have to be Near Dark.

If you haven't seen it...you should. It's great. It's a non-traditional twist on the "typical" vampire movie. But, I probobly own every other worthwhile vampire movie 😉

In terms of fiction..I've read Dracula of course, and the Anne Rice vampire chronicles, and the Twilight (ugh)...thats about it for the vampire fic for me, though.

SO MANY! Obviously Interview falls in there...Love the Blade movies...Lost Boys, Underworld, Van Helsing...Dracula, Nosferatu, From Dusk Till Dawn...God I know I just saw one that had a greattake on the vamp world but I can't for the life of me remember what it was...
 
There are quite a few, but I would say for sure Near Dark is one of my favourites, definately a good movie. Also big love for Lost Boys, Dracula (despite Keaune Reeves accent in it! hehe), The Hunger and From Dusk till Dawn. I have read Dracula also, I liked it quite a bit. My fav vamp book that I have read so far probably would be Salem's Lot by Stephen King, its a pitty that the movie and the tv remake they did not long ago dont really measure up to it.

It was so great.

Nightwatch without a doubt its just so interesting and the effects are great . The whole good vs evil, its all about the ying and yang 😀 x
 
My favorite vampire movie would have to be "Innocent Blood," simply because I've always liked Robert Loggia, who made such a fantastic Mafia gang boss/vampire, and Don Rickles as his blood sucking lawyer.

It was the first one I thought about just seeing the title of this thread. So I agree with LifeIsJustThis there.

Underworld was pretty cool to.

For me Interview with a Vampire gets top spot, and its the only one that I own. I did enjoy Underworld (the first one), liked the Blade movies and of course the 80's deliciousness that is Lost Boys and the Coreys :silly: I've been wanting to watch the sequel but I'm so scared it will be awful... has anyone seen it? Bookwise I've only read the Anne Rice books.. I do have a friend that is really trying to push Twilight on me but I've not budged... yet, I might do it just to shut her up.

I know, I'm scared to watch the new Lost Boys too....Nah, don't read Twilight. It's not that good :)
The Lost Boys and Underworld were great! I also really liked 30 Days of Night, it strayed from your general sexy vampire imagery to just crazy animalistic monsters out for blood. It made a nice change to see vampires that way, nice and creepy.

I can't wait to go and see twilight with my boyfriend, ive read the books and they are bloody amazing, I can't wait to see it! 🙂
 
Ok all of the above, plus anything from Hammer with Lee and Cushing - fantastic.

However if I had to name one vampire movie, the first that got me hooked?

Love at First Bite. Gotta love it. Dracula to baying wolves......'Children of the night......... SHUT UP!'

Makes me smile even now.

I love the Hammer films, have them all on DVD and haha yes that film is hilarious
Interview with the Vampire, though it's not great for me. Good, but not great. For me, there are few good vampire movies. I'd rather stick with vampire tv shows.
