Angelus was just... vicious. He didn't hold back and didn't stop until he completely destroyed his victims. Also, he was very artistic about his killing and torturing. He wasn't a quick killer like Spike was, he got a rush from completely bringing someone down. Also, like BillyidolWannaB said, he could hurt Buffy on a personal level, which made for all the more drama and emotion. Killing Jenny was shocking, like she mentioned, and very cruel. It wasn't just a kill either, he had to make it elaborate, as if death alone could not hurt the Scoobies - and Giles especially - enough.

For some reason, I've never really liked the "evil" side of the Season 2 storyline. It just never clicked. So I'm going to have to go Glory. Season 5 is probably my favourite season of Buffy, and it's all down to the contrasts. All the little schizophrenic flips in Glory's character made her perfect to me.

I voted Angelus, although it's a close call between him and the Mayor. What I liked about Angelus was that he just really was this badass evil vampire, and Angel's relationship with Buffy gave the whole storyline overall a nice extra touch, because of the difference between Angel and Angelus etc. What I liked about the Mayor was, again, the fact that, despite being weird and overly chirpy, he was really totally ruthless and evil. That's what I need in a Big Bad. Glory and Dark Willow both kind of lacked the evil ruthlessness, because their motives were, selfish, yes, but not wreaking havoc just because it's fun. The Master could have been interesting, but he was sadly underdeveloped. Same for the First. And don't even get me started on Adam.. 😛

Hard for me to choose a favorite when I hate bad guys. It's tempting to say The Master, just because it was so easy for Buffy to kill him. He was a very pathetic über-vamp. He majorfailed all his projects (anointed kids, harvests, blah blah blah) and he got his butt kicked by a 16 year old girl. Loser!

I hate evil Angel and evil Willow because I love those chars when they're not evil.

I really disliked the Adam-thing. He was impossible for Buffy to kill, but then Willow and Giles did that mojo jojo and WOAH Buffy became superstrong and pew pew Adam was dead. That solution was just too easy. No fun. By the way, why didn't they just do the same thing with Glory and The First?

I think I'll have to say that The First is my favorite Bad Guy because everything just became black/white and I actually like that. Everyone had everything to lose, so everyone teamed up. All the good guys was good - Willow, Faith, Spike, Angel, Andrew, Anya - and the only bad guys was vampires and idiots like Caleb. And they got wiped all over the floor! :yay:

Glory and Angelus.
Angelus was way darker and sexier than Angel.
Glory because, well, tiny little woman, she brings down a building by stomping. Looks can be deceiving. She was ubercool.
 
I tossed my hat in with the Mayor. Just a really pleasant friendly guy who just happens to want to ascend to true Demon status. I mean why would you deny a guy his goals?


Giving Angel and Buffy relationship advice while bargaining Willow for his box of spiders was just the perfect embodiment of his kindness/evilness thing. What a unique villain and something we'll probably never see again.
 
Glory- for the simple fact that she shattered buffy's spirit. It mentally hit buffy that she is no match for glory toe to toe, 1vs.1 no matter what day it was.
 
Dark Willow. She's so hardcore and gives such insight into Willow's character. I really do just love her!
I do like the Mayor, though. He cracked me up!!

Kinda, he's the best big bad (scariest etc), but Glory and The Master are more like-able? I get that. Caleb was definitely the scariest, most hate-able, therefore perhaps making him the Best Big Bad. But I like Glory more, therefore she becomes my favourite Big Bad.

I know this has been done before, but there are many new members having joined lately, and I figured it couldn't hurt to have this discussion again! (Plus, I kinda love making polls).

Who is your all-time favorite Buffyverse villain/'Big Bad'? and why? And, if you think they succeeded as a villain why so, and if not, why not?

Anyways, my favorite Big Bad(s) is from Season 2. Spike, Dru, and Angelus 😀
I'm not sure why; it was just so interesting and I love the way it all turned out
 
Honestly, I'd have to go with Dark Willow. In my opinion she was the most powerful vilian the show ever had. She had all powerful rage and Magik. She could do anything. Plus, fury fueled by a lost love is such an epic combo. Angelus would of course come in second purely for his enjoyment of being evil!
 
Caleb out that list for sure, he was successful by killing alot of the Potentials..
I'm not quite sure Harmony was a big bad? HA. 😛
