Favourite movie

I saw One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest yesterday, it was really great!
 
Okay, I've got another one I really like, only cause of the whole religious church figting thing near the end: Face/Off, very good film, good storyline and stunts that dont go over the top.
 
It was a kick-ass action movie, and the choreography of the fights and the location picks were very good aswell as the acting from both Nick and John. But what message did the whole movie have? What was the deeper meaning? ... very entertaining and esthetic movie, but no real art.
 
I watched a comedy called "Stripes" last night which starred Lance LeGault, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis (the geek from Ghostbusters), P.J. Soles, Warren Oates, John Candy, John Larroquette, Judge Reinhold, Sean Young, Dave Thomas, Joe Flaherty....

Here's a quick description if you've never seen or heard of it:

"Feeling like losers and looking to straighten out their lives, two friends enlist in the Army under the mistaken impression that military life is something like a summer camp for grownups. A boxoffice success (despite a weak script) due in large part to Murray's charm and his verbal and sometimes physical sparring with Oates, who is good as the gruff-tempered platoon sergeant. Features humorous stints from various "Second City" players, including Candy, whom Murray turns into a "lean, mean fighting machine."

It's a great film and a great laugh -it contains violence, nudity and bad language. It's got a great cast and the script is interesting - but most of all the US Army's new weapon is a special tank - in the disguise of a VW Van (the ones that were around alot in the 70s -80s) Great idea!!! And the Czechs!! Poor poor guys!!

I advice you to see this - directed by the same guy who did the Ghostbusters films 🙂
 
I think that i now have another movie to add to my list LOL the Last Samurai i LOVE that film it is totally awesome!!!

Why no real art? Deeper meaning is not required for art to be real, then surrealist exquisite cadavres or dadaist readymades wouldn't be art.

And I don't even like that movie that much.

Thank you, Lorne. If you haven't seen Dark City, you really have to. An amazing movie and you will notice some similarities to Hush. Rufus Sewel is so great as is Jennifer Connoly and Kiefer Sutherland.

And if you love horror movies, the two Evil Dead's and Army of Darkness are the best parodies ever!!! Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are an amazing duo!!!
 
Evil Dead was the funniest horror movie I've ever seen! And I love Donny Darko too, thats great.

Very cool. You have to see the sequels to Evil Dead - they get better and better. Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn and Army of Darkness. And it is always cool to meet people who love Donny Darko. Jake is so great in that movie. I teach it to my grade 12's and they love it.

I loved the Crow and cried so much. Have a poster on the wall in my classroom. I went to school with Sophia Shinas who played Shelly. She wasn't a very nice person in elementary school. But she was great in the movie. I still mourn the loss of Brandon Lee.

I know! I really need to rent those, my friend told me about how great Evil Dead II was. 😀

I love Jake, and his cute smirk thing in that movie. I saw his sister Maggie that was also in that movie at the Sundance Film Festival last weekend.😛
That would be so cool if I learned about Donny Darko in school! How do you get away with that? What do you teach?
 
It is really difficult for me to pick a favorite movie. I can pick a favorite book, television show, song and even a favorite poem, but I still can't decide on a favorite movie. If I had to pick one, though, it would probably be The Usual Suspects. I also like comedies, but those are just not really favorite movie material. I liked the American Pie series, but mainly because of Alyson Hannigan. (She was like season one Willow, only incredibly horny! 🙂)

I have to disagree with you, Keenangelus. The Lord of the Rings was great, but I do not think that the acting was as flawless as you say. I know that I will get a lot of flak for this, but I think that Elijah Wood is not a very good actor. He only has one expression, which is kind of concerned and sad. Sorry in advance if everyone disagrees.

By the way, I wish you were my English teacher, Blackarachnia.
