There are a few quotes throughout Buffy/Angel that really hit home for me. These are a few that I actually try and live by:
"The hardest thing in this world is to live in it"--Buffy.
This is one of my all time favorites. I know its not the happiest, but in all honesty, it's the truth.
"We live as though the world were as it should be, to show it what it can be."--Angel. This one is pretty inspiring to me. The world does suck a lot of the time, but it's up to us to make it better, and even if we don't, even if we fail, we did the best we could for someone else to have it better. I like that thought.
If there's no great glorious end to all this, if nothing we do matters... , then all that matters is what we do. All I wanna do is help. I wanna help because, I don't think people should suffer as they do. Because, if there's no bigger meaning, then the smallest act of kindness is the greatest thing in the world.--Angel.
Love this one. It kind of goes with the theme of the others I've listed, but I just connect with it. There isn't a "bigger meaning" in life. We're the bigger meaning. We make our world, and it's our call to make it better. Not to prove anything or for any selfish reasons, but because it's the right thing to do. Because if you're not fighting to make things better, then what's the point?
"Let's go to work"--Angel.
Short and to the point. I just like the message, and I really identify with it. There's always going to be another battle, another fight. But you have to keep trying. You have to keep fighting. All that really matters is what we do right now.
Those are the meaningful ones. But of course, very few can keep up with Snyder:
"It's worth nothing, Harris. Whatever comes out of your mouth is a meaningless waste of breath. An airborne toxic event."
"Congratulations to the class of 1999. You all proved more or less adequate. This is a time of celebration, so sit still and be quiet."
