As the year is drawing to a close, I thought it would be fun to discuss highlights of music released this year.

What, in your opinion, is the Song of 2011?

Mine - Rolling in the Deep by Adele - classic!!

Before I even read your post I saw the title and thought of this song plut "Set Fire to the Rain."
I don't know if this song came out in 2011, but this is the song I think of when I think of this year:

Not from 2011, I know, I KNOW guys! BUT The Stone Roses announced their reunion in 2011, and literally made my dreams come true! (Plus I got tickets to see them in 2012, amazing!) So any song by them makes me 2011 the best year for music since they split.

It might not be my favorite song of 2011, but it certainly is the one that gets stuck inside my head ALL THE TIME. I mean seriously, once you start singing Friday when you get on the bus to work, and you imagine a black guy riding in his car rapping beside you, that's when you know the song's done its job. 😛

And my favorite song would probably have to be one of Adele's as well, the absolutely gorgeous "Take It All".

This was one of the other songs I first heard when I knew she was releasing a new album '21' and there was a youtube vid of her singing this song.

I can't say what's the song of 2011, but the Foo Fighter's Wasting Light was definitely a highlight to me.
The whole album is awesome! The songs Miss the Misery, Walk and Rope are my favourites.
It's nominated for 6 Grammy Awards, by the way.

And Chickenfoot's second album Chickenfoot III is awesome as well, probably my favourite album of 2011. I love the song Lighten Up.
It's also nominated for a Grammy.

(But awards don't mean that much to me anyway.)

I dug all of Adele's songs...but for me, Foster the People's Pumped Up Kicks got me going.

And...I know most of the world got introduced to Tinie Tempah's Written in the Stars, but it didn't arrive in the States until early in 2011. And having it being used as the theme song for the WWE's WrestleMania 27 didn't hurt either. (BTW, I was at WM27, but that's another story for another thread...)

Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift ft. The Civil Wars is definately a favorite. Yeah, it's late December... but it still counts as 2011
 
I was just talking about Adele with my friends tonight and how her Album 21 was by far the best of 2011. I think it might even still be and the number one spot on itunes. It's rare for me when I can honestly say I love every song on an album. Someone told me she had to cancel a whole tour because she's losing her voice due to cigarrete smoking and won't quit! I really hope that never happens!!!!!

Adele HAD to cancel her tour, but it's because she had throat surgery.
