Favourite TV Theme

I was wondering what television programmes people thought had the best theme tune.

My favourite would have to be Roswell. (Dido- Here with me) I thought it was not only a great song, but fit perfectly with the show.

Reasons would be good, if people have them!
 
I loved the original Alias themesong. Then, they tweaked it. Did something like a remix version for the fourth season, and I hated it, lol.

And I actually like the Richard Butler version of that Smiths song for Charmed, though I don't care about the show...
 
The Buffy and Angel theme songs are great. I love how the Buffy theme starts slow with like the organ playing and then goes into the fast rock and roll thing. The Angel theme with the violin is awesome too. I have to agree with GoldenBoy and say that the Charmed theme is great too. I started liking it when I popped in my Cruel Intentions DVD and saw that they used that song for the movie's trailer. I also like the Freinds theme but I'm not crazy about it. I like it cus it's catchy. The Gargolyes theme is great also because it sounds old fashined at the beginning then goes into sounding more modern. The King of Queens and Veronica Mars themes are good also.
 
ok, this is an old(er) show...dont even know if its on anymore but the theme song to Highlander was cool. uh, dont remember the title but i think it's by queen
 
my fave theme has got to be Angel...i have the original, and it is just awesome.
i also really like the themes from Tru Calling, Roswell, and the theme they had for the first season of Dawson's Creek (although they used it right up until S4 for us UK'ers)

That was Princes of the Universe, really amazing track! You should get the album it's from. It's Queen's A Kind of Magic and the majority of the tracks on it are from the original Highlander movie, including the truly amazing Who Wants to Live Forever.

I'd have to go with the Buffy and Angel themes, gotta love them!

I also think that Angel's theme song is the best. I like Buffy's but it's not in the same league. Roswell's is great too, I'm a bit of a Dido fan. I also like Smallville's. However, I'm preparing to be crucified for this, but I really like the Baywatch theme song. Don't really know why, and it only has a little bit to do with the Pam Anderson/Yasmine Bleeth/et al montage that it gets shown over. It's just kind of rockin, uplifting, and with that piano solo in the middle. But Angel is still the best. I always think of it as melancholic, maudlin and mysterious.

Can we sneak in hatable ones too? I detest the Beverly Hills 90210 theme. That insipid electric guitar...like they took all the worst elements of 80s and 90s pop and fermented it into a concentrated stew of...

OK, a little over the top. I don't care for it.
 
If we're gonna talk about themes we dont like then I'd have to say Firefly.

It grew on me after a few episodes but all in all I didnt really like it.

gotta say, i LOVED the Firefly theme! can't believe i left it out of my original post!!
i'm still pissed that the song wasn't in the movie...well, except for that little bit Jayne played.
 
I personally like the themes for:

Buffy- I loved it, I think it somehow fits the show and was just cool.

Angel- I agree with Lyri, it was really original.

Highlander- Awesome rock out song, and VERY powerful somehow

Xena- I guess I just heard this one so much I love it. 😉

Friends- my number one fave.... "I'll be there for yooooou!" it's awesome and funky and one I actually sing-a-long to 😀
 
I love Firefly's 🙂

My favorite is probably Roswell, but I liked the original Party of Five one. It's actually the reason I first watched the show lol

That would be from The Mysterious Cities of Gold, if i'm not very much mistaken. Watched that when i was at school.
I have a few favourites.

Charmed- I love "Love Spit Love's" version of How Soon is Now.

Tru Callings - I just thinks it's really catchy.

Smallvilles - Again a catchy tune and just right for a Superman spinoff.

Roswells - Can't go wrong with Dido, I bought her album because of hearing this song at the beginning of Roswell and I'm so glad I did!

Sex and the City's - It's just so up tempo.
 
I hate the show, but i love the Charmed theme....as well as Dawsons Creek.

I also love love love the A-Team, Cheers, Ulysees 31, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Angel, Buffy, He-Man and Dr Who....

there are more, but i can't.....ohh Diff'rent Strokes.....think of any more

EDIT: Trim my toenails and call me Tamara, i forgot Remy Zero's Save me from Smallville....and Lazlo Banes, Superman from Scrubs
