Went for a mammogram about 3 weeks ago and was told not to get upset if they called me back to do more images (first one I ever had). I received a letter less than 10 days later with a message to make return appointment. I didnt panick and went back. To make a long story short, they found a lump. Now I have to go and have a biopsy done. I have tried not to panick over this and it may be nothing, But.... I have dealt with the C word before and was lucky... now I am not so sure. I have found that cancer runs in our family and a close friend of mine just had to have mastectomy, her lump was exactly the same size as mine. If I ramble, please forgive me. I am scared, nervous... you name it. I dont know if any of you have dealt with this or not. I truely hope that you never do. I just know that I am 37, married to the most wonderful man in the world and have 3 sons that I want to see grow up. Just praying that they will not make me wait too long after the 16th to get my results and perhaps put my mind at ease. *on a positive note.. I have decided that whatever the outcome...I am quitting smoking!!* The prospect of facing your own mortality is a scary thing.

It's hard to know what to say other than I really hope that it turns out OK for you.

If anyone is interested there is a click to donate site at

http://www.thebreastcancersite.com/...p5000jX40065700b3&revisionCode=ON_THS_BCS_Tab

which helps to provide access to mammograms for under-privileged women at the cost to you of a couple of clicks of your mouse. It is part of the Hunger Site charity web presence which consists of several click to donate pages for different causes. I try and visit once a day.

Well, I really don't know what to say. It must be a scary thing. I've never had to face anything like this but I can imagine what you may be going through. All I can say is that I hope it turns out for the better and if you need anyone to talk to... I'm always here. My advice would be to keep yourself busy and try not to think about it so much. (easier said than done, I know)

I don't know what to say either... I am terrified of those things, such as cancer.. But I know many people who have been in the situation you are in right now, and none of them had cancer (although they thought they did for a while).. I really hope things work out for you... sorry, don't know what to say to help..

I always used to visit that site you mentioned Mr. Pointy (hungersite, rainforest-, breastcancer-...), have forgot to do that in a while.. Will start visit it every day again now (thanks for the reminder)..

thank you for your care and concern, it means a lot
3months ago, doctors found "something strange" in my father's prostate.. the C word was mentioned.. now after lots of tests and analisys, they still not shure.. but.. they say "it's problably not it".. well i got very scared then.. mostly coz i know a lot of people that had cancer.. recently one neighbor died of it when he only started getting sick and fouding out 2monts ago.. so i was really scared with the fact that i could loose my dad.. it was such a big relief with the last analisys results..
i can only imagine (from a familiar pov) what you can be feeling.. my mother and my sister were operated to the breast and the uterus for some lumps.. but thankfully they weren't malignum.. but still.,.big scary thing..
i hope everything will be ok, and i can only say i'm here if you even wanna talk or vent..

thank you, I hope that your family stays well
I hope it goes ok for you. I had my own scare a few years back. Cancer is very prominent within my family so when I found a lump I panicked and so many thoughts were going through my head. I went to the doctor and he took a look at it and said it was nothing to be worried about. I still refused to take his word for it and was all 'how the hell does he know.' He told me to come back in a few days to see if it was still there. I still don't know what it was but luckily it wasn't cancer as it went away on its own. But as soon as you find something like this all rational thought goes out your head.

thank you, Hope it goes well too.
God. SD, I hope everything turns out for the best. We've been lucky here so far, but one of my best friends is a brain cancer survivor, so I've seen the kind of stuff that goes on in a person's head (definitely no pun intended) and family when this stuff happens. All the prayers of the Dwarf family are going out for you...

Thank you KD, all prayers are welcomed.
Wow SD 🙁 I'm so sorry you have to go through this! I agree with elmo that the best thing to do is not to harp on it but to get out there and stay busy (although like she, I understand that that's impossibly hard) because you can't afford to drive yourself nuts right now. Hopefully everything will turn out alright!!! My prayers are with ya hun...

thank you for your prayers
Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. I am trying to stay busy. I appreciate your care so very much. I just needed to get it off my chest (no pun intended). I will let you know the results as soon as I get them. You are all angels to me!!! Please do check out the breast cancer site, the women that are helped thru this are mothers, wives, sisters and friends that otherwise may not be able to get a mammogram that could save their life. Thank you again from my heart!!!!

My thoughts are with you luv - try and stay positive
I'm so sorry to hear this. I lost someone to cancer about 2 years ago, she was in her 70's though, and had been battling it for some time.
I really hope that it's not the C word, and I hope that it all gets better soon. If it does happen to be cancer, which I'm desperately hoping its not, I, along with others I'm sure, will be here for you. Be brave. And good luck!
But you really should be just kind of getting on with your life at this time, as worrying will only make it worse 🙂 If you ever need anything, you know where to go! 😉

you have always been here to help me with things, thank you soo much
I'm so sorry sweetie, I know how terrifying that is. The waiting is the worst. I have experienced alot of breast cancer in my family, my grandmother, my aunt, my 2 cousins. You have to remember if you should happen to hear that C word, to not think it's the end of your world. There's a much higher remission rate today than there was even 10 years ago. And at this stage, it's so key not to worry yourself sick waiting to hear. Try and keep positive, hard I know, but there might not even be anything to stress about, and you just enjoy your hubby and boys and the strength and love they give you.

Sorry I'm not able to be very eloquent right now, I guess I just know it's a serious issue that all women think about, fear, etc. And just know we're ALL here for you! Please please update us when you know more. And feel free to PM me if you just want to chat, vent, whatever you feel like. Anytime. *hugs*

your words are very eloquent , thank you
Wow.

I grew up on Long Island (that overgrown sandbar that sticks out from New York City), and our breast cancer rates are really high. I've known a lot of breast cancer survivers, indcluding my next door neighbor and one of my 6th grade teachers--she was out most of the school year for chemoterapy, but is doing fine now.

Plus, it still might not be anything. My mom goes in for biopsies all the time because she just has naturally cystic breasts.

Wishing you all the luck in the world!

Ok, went to the surgeon today hoping that I would find out something, now I am back at square one!! Because my ultrasound was unable to show anything more, the doctor is unable to do a needle biopsy. Therefore, I have to go have an MRI done on Dec. 3rd, then back to the surgeon on Dec. 7th. So its just more wait and see... about the only thing that she could tell me was because of maternal history of cancer, I am considered high risk of having breast cancer. Right now I am more aggravated than anything... these damn doctors (forgive the language) seem to enjoy giving you long medical terms to confuse you then look at you like your stupid when you ask what it actually means. I am more confused now than I was before I went. Time will tell.......... Thanks for letting me rant about it and hopefully I will finally be able to get somewhere soon. ???????????

I had a C-word scare when I was 14, they found a mole on my back that was very suspicious. I was sooo scared when the doctor talked about the possibility of Melanoma. The waiting is the worst part. My prayers are with you sweetie! I hope everything turns out ok...you have all of our support.

thank you, your thoughts are appreciated
That's terrible that you have to wait such a long time before you know anything. Again, I'm thinking about you and if you need to vent, you know where I am. I really hope that you get some news about it soon... and lets hope it's good news. We don't mind you ranting if it helps you out. Really. Take care and like I said... keep busy. That's the only thing you can really do. Try and keep you mind off it and stop yourself from getting even more depressed about it.

Right on! I totally agree!!!! Great post!
Elmo is right on...rant away anytime hon! I know how something as simple as talking about it can make you feel better. Keep us updated, try not to stress about it too much (hard I know!!!) and my thoughts and prayers are with you all the way!

Of course you should rant about this, it's not like it's unimportant or not worth mentioning or anything.. I know little about this but I get that the waiting must be so hard. Never knowing. I hope that you'll know soon, that they'll find out and tell you.. (And of course I hope that it's not cancer...)

I am so sorry to hear about the cancer. I have lost family to cancer and last year, the day before Thanksgiving in fact, my boyfriend of 5 years was diagnosed with Cancer.

But he is still here today and completely Cancer free. Thats because they caught it early. If they caught it early enough then there is a great chance that you will be ok. Just hang in there and know that you will be in my prayers. Just stay strong is all I can tell you and from how my boyfriend dealt with it, just remember to laugh and smile. Humour really is a powerful medecine.
