Hi, I just started watching Buffy. I'm a huge Farscape fan and had heard comparisons. I've been looking for a good show (Babylon 5 was a huge disappointment; I like BSG quite a bit, but not with the same emotional hook).
I was in law school when Buffy first came out. I didn't have time to watch tv and never got into it the few times I saw it. Frankly, I thought it was a bit silly (please don't hate). Then when it came on Hulu I gave it a chance, got immersed, and now I'm totally hooked. I love the pathos and the forced family aspect (very similar to Farscape there).
I'm nearing the end of Season 6 on DVD. It's killing me. "Normal Again" and "Once More with Feeling" are right up there with "The Choice" (my favorite Farscape ep). The way they decided to stick together and move forward but make the awful (but honest) choices is astounding. It's odd how these fantasy and sci-fi shows are so much more honest than the usual dren on TV.
Thanks for letting me in.
