Oh, I dunno, I get a certain giddy thrill from editing other people's posts... In fairness, I'm still a newbie to moderation, in every sense...

It's fun to ban trolls..... I totally agree and to knock a$$holes down a peg or two by threatening banishment is also cool but I sometimes feel bad about having so much power and wondering if it goes to my head. I've rarely met a mod where it didn't seem as if their mod powers went to their head and I feared becoming like that. Maybe you're the exception : superhap

Alright everyone let's stop bickering here. Hero I must say I think it was very honorable of you to back down. I completely agree with everything you have said. People here are rude to one another, and I'm sick and tired of it. What ever happened to respecting other people's opinions? Isn't a forum about hearing other people's thoughts on different matters? Isn't that what we're here for? I know that's what I signed up for. I didn't register to this forum just so I could be disrespected and scrutinized for my own opinions. Shekinah, I don't know where you are getting off being so disrespectful to all of these people. You've let us know you're opinion. Ok you don't agree with this thread. We've heard your opinion, so don't keep posting it here again and again insulting Hero and the rest of us. And in NO way has Hero been a bully in this thread. I've read the entire thing, and I personally think that you are way out of line. It's disrespectful people that make me want to leave this forum because in most other places I have experienced none of this.

That is my own opinion. Hopefully someone won't come along and insult me for it...

Aw... I'm touched, in a thoroughly non slashfiction way, just so we're all clear. The forum I referred to is about SF, and I actually went to the lengths of Nancy Drewing up the guys home phone number. His message minder was full...

Well, to rip off ideas from other forums... one has a Sin Bin, where offensive posters are put for a week at a time and locked out of all other forums. It's a cracking idea, but it's abused by some draconian mods (I've spent about 2 months there...) Another has an area specifically to sort personal disputes, letting them be settled in a relatively public place, but separate from the On Topic discussion...

One of the mods or ex mods don't remember who actually suggested a Sin Bin a while back. I don't recall exactly the reasons we didn't go for it, though I expect it has to do with dealing with these issues privately etc. Although now that I think of it, I think the suggestion was to put the offensive threads in there so people could go at it in an out of the way place (like the back seat of a Volkswagon). So forget what I just said lol. I do sort of have something in mind that I think might accomplish the same thing as what you suggest though.

Billie - Just want you to know that Faith and I feel this too and have been working really hard especially this past month or two getting it back that way. Frankly we've hit a lot of walls with certain members but we are trying.

I don't normally like to post about specific people in threads like these, but I think it might be useful in this case so I will. Let's take the LOTR Sucks thread. Shekinah posted some comments that many felt were inappropriate. I spoke to him about it and felt the issue was resolved. (Though he might not agree with me lol. And though he definitely doesn't agree with me on the principle behind it, I felt that he was respecting my wishes in how to conduct himself.) The Matrix thread then was posted, which I thought was clearly a joke and funny. Shekinah then started to get attacked in it in reprisal for their aforementioned comments in the Lotr thread. Which had already been discussed and resolved and thus did not need to be rehashed. So then more comments in response to those were posted by Shekinah and so on and so on...

My point? If people had either come to the staff to ask about the situation rather than trying to get back at someone in the Matrix thread, or just discussed that thread for what it was rather than again using it to get back at someone, then I think the whole thing would have ended right there. Bringing it into posts does not help, even if it feels good lol.

I won't close this thread, but I do need to ask that the slinging end. I know there is back and forth here and I'm not laying blame for it but it does need to stop.

I agree, that was wrong, especially if it was true.

But people do get defensive when other people obviously start arguments just to get attention.

Continue to praise and support your friend. Boards are soo much fun when they're soley comprised of cliques and anyone with a differing opinion is pounced upon. Then again, what can be expected of people still in high school? Not a lot really.

I shudder to think what one of you would do if someone were to initiate a bit of banter with you in real life (or should I say high school haha)... probably go searching for the pipe bombs, eh?

Your post might be valid if it were not for two things.

A) I have already stated that I am not taking any of this seriously and your opinions mean nothing to me. I am posting merely for my own amusement.

B) At no point did I say anything about being immature etc. I spoke of unbelievable stupidity and the like, but not of immaturity. As for myself, like I said, I am merely amusing myself, seemingly at your own expense - dull creatures.

ok so putting world war 3 behind us... my point of making this thread from the beginning was to see what we can all do to stop the rude factor. Anyone have any suggestions besides not doing it at all? I know that the disagree/agree button is always an option, and so is report a bad post.

Question to the mods: if we report a bad post, what happens exactly?
