Cute lil' redhaired Felicia Day has been the subject of geek daydreams (and nights) ever since The Guild came along and gave the World of Warcraft crowd a soap opera just for them. She entrenched her position as the first lady of nerddom when she starred as the love interest of Dr. Horrible, yet somehow she's not managed to break through to the mainstream crowd yet.

While Day's breakthrough performance still hasn't come about, her next job might take her half-a-step closer to the big leagues. The actress will appear in a new SyFy original movie -- no, wait! Don't go away yet! -- called Red. In the title role and playing a descendant of Little Red Riding Hood, Felicia brings her fiancé home to meet the folks, all of whom are werewolf hunters. When her beloved is bit by a lycanthrope, Red's clan wants to kill the guy before he can turn hairy and sprout fangs, forcing Red to take a stand against her blood members and try to save her betrothed.

Already the internet has given Red the geek seal of approval. If someone is thinking at SyFy, then they'll try and replicate this formula (geek friendly actor + high concept B-movie idea = full of win) again.

Red will debut as a stand-alone movie on SyFy next year.

So I guess it's a TV-Movie then, I was hoping for a series, but it sounds like a neat concept all the same. It's great to see that she's got a lead role anyway, I'm really excited to hear more about it when the time comes 😀

Yeah I like the concept, never been a fan of the Syfy original movies, but I'll check this out, love Felica!

Sounds like it can be good fun or totally awful. But since it has Felicia in the lead I hope I get to see it.

Ooh, Little Red Riding Hood was one of my favourite fairytales growing up. Plus Felicia ... I like. 😀 Don't know how/if I'd be able to see it but I hope so.
