In September, a Japanese man was arrested for reportedly stalking a pop star and attacking and groping her at her home, according to Japanese news organization NHK. Allegedly, this man found the woman’s home by studying photos she posted on social media, observing a train station reflected in her eyes, finding that train station using Google Street View, waiting for her at the train station, and following her home.

The man also apparently learned more about where the woman lived by studying videos she posted from inside her apartment, observing her curtains and how light came through her windows.

You may not be a pop star, but it’s still a cautionary tale about how tiny details in your smartphone photos could be used to figure out one of your most private pieces of information — where you live. So maybe avoid sharing photos taken right nearby your home, or on routes you frequent.

EEk! I figure showing wild bunnies in my home would scare any freaky freak away. Especially if they have allergies.

The garden buns would be more tasty than the house buns. True free range, vaccine free and all. Hungry freaky freaks are welcome to those 😀

I don't really mind so much if people figure out where I live, because if anyone turns up uninvited looking for trouble then that is on them. Invading my home is a big no no if you want to stay alive. I defend myself like a rabid deranged animal lol.

@Spanky is right. I always thought you lived in west Australia but in one of the pictures you posted, there is an IGA grocery store, which is only in the east part of the country. Maybe someone with a bit of diligence could find you. I only know about this because other parts of my family have been in the grocery business and the closest supermarket when I was growing up was an IGA.

Octavia, what is this, telling folk where you don't live?
@Spanky Good to know, though I never had an interest in sharing a lot of photos on Facebook or Instagram anyway.

I think it’s best to only post stuff online you wouldn’t mind people seeing in the news.

Pretty much the same with me. Honestly, an intruder would feel like they were suddenly in a horror film if they showed up here.

Hmm, has Anyanka Bunny Slayer hit a nail on its head, could that be the lead-in for a new thread?

(Sort of a quote)
Honestly if an intruder broke into my place they'd think they was in a horror film:
Guess what horror film they'd be in, and details please..

Herding a sheep to the lower part of a plate?
My ducks are my alarm. They quack at people in the yard. Sometimes they quack at people going past. The chickens run up to me FULL SPEED which could be intimidating to people who dont know chickens. Chickens are creepy creatures, their talons are freaky looking. I imagine them running at T-Rex size and can see why people have chicken fear. The bunnies are great at getting under feet, but not so they get squashed, just enough so they trip you.

I just remembered that I have posted a selfie on this site, with my name on it. But I am fatter with more hair now so maybe I am unrecognisable.

A couple of Geese are the best alarm by far.
My friend had her house broken into and the only thing the burglar did was eat some lasagna that was left out and put the dish in the sink. Kinda freaky.

He probably did something far freakier than that, but no sense in wondering what exactly. I had a bizarre landlord who walked into my flophouse room while I was asleep, but as I woke up he left fast. I'll always wonder why he snuck in for.

What country do you live in 'cos the economy isn't much good.
I've got to go into town today, I will do my best to remember to close and lock the doors as normally I forget.
