So I finally got around to finishing Firefly this weekend for the first time. I actually bought it like 5 months ago and only watched the first 3 episode back then. I admit I had doubts because it never really sucked me in, but then I finally gave it another chance on Friday and I just fell it love with it.

I finished it today, and I'm sort of speechless. I was sad to see it end.

This thread may be pointless, I feel bad making it. I just wanted to say this out loud to you guys I guess. 😛 How did you guys feel when you watched the series for the first time?

Oh, and I do plan on going out this week and getting Serenity. 😉

I LOVE FIREFLY!

It had so much potential, and i will be eternally dissapointedf that it was cancelled so early on. Theres really not much I cna say except it was awesome.

It was bittersweet for me as well. I knew when I bought it that it was finished and wouldn't becoming back, so I wasn't that hopeful of it being any good. I mean, it got cancelled after half a season, it must suck, right? If it didn't say 'Joss Whedon's Firefly' on the box it would have stayed in the trade bin at work.

And I would have missed out on a truly momentous half season of television. It was like watching the first season of Buffy all over again; it was fresh funny, scary, action-packed and different to anything else in its genre. I loved it.

I had never seen "Firefly" until after seeing the movie, so I didn't know anything at all about the series, but I was so impressed with it that I ordered it from Amazon as soon as I got back home. I don't know how big a "Star Trek" fan Joss is, but "Firefly" was definitely the "Wagon Train To The Stars" that Roddenberry always wanted his show to be, but the network never allowed it, and it might be just the wildest of coincidences, but T'pol, the Vulcan character in "Star Trek: Enterprise" once told Malcolm Reed, another one of the "Enterprise" grew that, in Vulcan, Malcolm meant serenity. Coincidence, or was it Joss' homage to the Great Bird Of The Galaxy? You can decide.

I'm so glad you finally finished "Firefly". The show is so amazing... It does get off to a slow start, but by the end of the series you're going "Awww, that's it?!"

Exactly how I felt!
To no surprise I know how you're feeling. One good thing is that many love the show even more the second time around. Why don't you try if it will be the same for you?

When I finished the series for the first time, I was kind of disappointed by the last episode, Objects in Space. It was totally different from all the other episodes.
Then I watched the whole series again with a friend. We watched Heart of Gold, Objects in Space and Serenity (the movie) in one night and it was absolutely breathtaking. I just loved Objects in Space when I watched it for the second time and Serenity was such a great ending for this amazing series. Since that night, Serenity is my favorite sci-fi movie (if you don't count Jurassic Park to sci-fi).

I was going ask but since I looked at your banner, it kind of answered the question.

Hehe I do love Kaylee, but I also love River! I can't decide who my favourite is. 😛

Actually, I'm making my bestie watch Firefly, so I'll be watching it a second time with her. I'm actually excited to watch it again. 😀
