This is really old news but I didn't come across it until this morning, reading about something completely unrelated...

Astronaut Steve Swanson is featured in the first Instagram from space wearing... a Firefly t-shirt!

What a good browncoat Swanson is, who even, already in 2007 brought both Firefly and Serenity aboard and they now reside at the Space Station.

This puts "Firefly" number 3, behind "Star Trek" and "Star Wars" for having their memorabilia taken into orbit. To the best of my knowledge, they are the only three movie/TV franchises to share that honor. If there are any others, I can't remember them.
