(I discovered this little bit of trivia yesterday, Sunday, Sept 8, the 46th anniversary of "Star Trek,"and thought that I would mention it here)

One of the things that I have been doing lately is re-watching some of my favorite old TV series. Yesterday, while watching an episode of "Star Trek: Enterprise," I noticed this bit of dialog in Season 1, Episode 16 "Shuttlepod One,"

In a conversation between T'pol, the Vulcan Science Officer, and Lt Malcolm Reed, T'pol tells Reed that "In Vulcan, 'Malcolm' means 'serenity.' Coincidence? Or hint of things to come?

"Shuttlepod One" first aired on February 13, 2002, and "Firefly" didn't premier until later that same year, Sept 20. Did producer Rick Berman have the equivalent of a Slayer Dream, or did Joss Whedon toss that little bit of Trek lore into "Firefly" just for fun?

Or do I just have too much spare time on my hands lately?
