A Serenity crew member turns traitor to help the government catch fugitive siblings River and Simon, who has hired the crew to break into an Alliance hospital to steal medical supplies and to learn more about experiments done on his sister.

I just want to know how Simon knew all the information for this job lol

I do like the Jayne-Simon interaction in this one, especially Jayne acknowledging it’s a good plan, and Simon thanking him. I like that they had to work together to escape. We also got to learn a little more about what happened to River. And Mal at the end is great.

It appears this is standard procedure for big hospitals on core worlds (which Ariel is). One of the strengths AND weaknesses of big government like this is the level of conformity. Every hospital runs the exact same way.

This is the really big wakeup call for Jayne. General consensus seems to be that he hadn't decided to turn the Tams over until River slashes him. That pushes him to do so. But once he hears Simon talking about the scans he has a change of heart. He now sees WHY River is the way she is.

Incidentally, if you look closely Jayne is wearing a Blue Sun t-shirt. Blue Sun was going to be the big bad on the Alliance side, so her attacking the shirt was foreshadowing.

I noticed the shirt on this rewatch too! Never did before.
Is there any significance to the colour Red?

Simon is from a high trust efficiently structured society, far cry from the outer planets with all their own ways of being. Its harder to train words than it is to do anything else for this crew - can relate 😀

River is so distressed about a death. I wonder if someone else was planned to be killed off in the series. Or is it in relation to Jayne?

"Everyone is rich and happy here, why wouldn't they smile"

Syringe in the mouth, super sanitary Simon. That scanner is way more roomy than your average MRI! River already told Simon this, she remembers everything, more things than her own memories. (although I have watched this out of order so maybe she said that after this ep?) River trusts in Simon even when she knows he is wrong, thats just so horrible 🙁

Seems an impossible situation to get out of. Simon still pumping Jaynes ego. Was the christmas story from Jaynes past? All the guards standardised training has nothing on the experience of scrappy bar fights.

EEEk the blue hands mans have scary tech 🙁 Instant Ebola in a pen.

Jayne gets the warm fuzzies, possibly for the first time in his life. Mal doesn't buy it. Asserting his authority lol. Jayne showing shame, also possibly for the first time in his life.
