I actually didn’t really remember what happened in this one, so that was kind of nice. I think it actually made a pretty good end to the show, if we had to have one. Bringing River into the fold was really needed, and this accomplished that.

Jubal Early, played by Richard Brooks, who at that time was probably best known for playing ADA Paul Robinette on the original Law and Order.
Interestingly, Whedon had Early rescued. He was originally supposed to be the bad guy for Serenity, but wasn't available so they went with the Operative.

With that ending i figured he would be rescued but Im glad he didnt come back
Been a long while since I have seen this one. Is River seeing the true thoughts or the worry of what they are? Its so unsettling, River trying to see what people are really trying to say with words that are not truthful. They say what they don't mean to keep the peace, but its not a peaceful facade.
My garden looks like this with the leaves now. I love how Simon nails the condescension lol.
I skipped War Stories but might go back after this. Why didnt Kaylee share this earlier? HAHA yes Jayne shes a witch. Mal is so interesting, living on the edge of myth.

This villain is so unlikeable its probably why I havent rewatched this episode much. The low register woodwind is so daunting. "Nobody can help me" are the most hopeless words. I read them a lot on the internet "No one is coming to save you" it drives hopelessness. It takes away humanity, his extra words are just what that saying makes a person feel. Utterly helpless.
Never gona be sad about a shirtless Simon. Just wish my tv wasnt so dark!
Is it still a room when its empty lol yes dude it still exists, the universe doesn't revolve around you.
"That aint a shepherd", yet we know Book is taking a narrower road. I would have liked to have see what his Order was all about 🙁 Probably could have been a whole season. He was a true believer in it, whatever the message or mission was.

Oh we need more tv like this. "You're not right, you're not righteous" River lumping herself in with this guy 😭 where do they put distressed teenage girls? Locked in hospitals with mentally dangerous older men. It's the way of the world. Outcasts on every side, people connected only by the fact they have issues that the normal, acceptable members of society do not hold.
Earlys ship looks like a tick. Mal wins with a shove. No touching guns.
