Firefly vs Wonderfalls

Permanent state of confusion...
While I enjoyed both shows, I'm really going to have to say that Firefly was by far the superior show. I think that it's kind of an unfair comparrison however. Although Firefly didn't really get a fair chance, Wonderfalls got even less of a shot at achieving what it set out to. But still, based on the epoisodes that I've seen and the other scrips that I've read, I still stand by Firefly at the better show.
Firefly really is about the characters. All this stuff happens to them, fanciful and mundane, but it's about how they all experience it and how they experience it together. Also, the show, while set in the future is still about people, about the human condition and how similar things of the future are to things of the past. The scenery may change, but people are merely people.
Wonderfalls, while witty and clever, seemed, to me at least, to operate on much less of a universal principal. It was all about the trials and tribulations of one person. Certainly it showed her affect on the people around her, and thereby the world, but to me, it felt so much less about PEOPLE and more about a person. Not to suggest that these aren't also great shows. I loved My So Called Life and other similar shows, but I think what I'm getting at is that (from my perspective) they just don't seem to have the same suggestion of life, the same impact.
Like I said though, this is from my perspective, others of you may well see things differently.

It's strange, I usually tend to agree with Kindred, but on this occasion I find myself disagreeing. Oh well...that's what makes a horse race.
I like Firefly. I love Wonderfalls. I'm going strictly by scripts after episode 4, but the thing I love about Wonderfalls is the stuff I sense is happening below the surface. The humanity Kindred doesn't see in the Falls I feel a deep touching well of.
I love all the little interpersonal touches that are there, but not hitting you over the head with a hammer, like the connection between Jaye and her brother Aaron, or how Mahandra is like a member of the Tyler family.
Another reason I love Wonderfalls is it's a show that lends itself well to multiple viewings. You can watch an episode as many times as you want, and get something new out of it each time. To be honest I don't get that same experience of new discoveries with multiple viewings from Firefly.

Firefly, all the way. Although I think that Wonderfalls ought to have been given more of a chance, I still think Firefly was the better of the two. There was plenty going on under the surface, mostly in the way all the characters related to each other, which made it interesting to watch. They also had that quirky Joss-style foreshadowing that always makes back episodes so interesting, like in "Serenity", when Mal and Jayne are talking about what would happen to make Jayne turn Traito, and then in "Ariel" he does (and yes, "Serenity was aired after "Ariel", but it was supposed to air beforehand and that's what really matters).
