I think when people say 'date' it implies a formal meeting with certain events planned which usually ends with fornicating at the best, a kiss at the worst. I think things are more like what Blaze said.. more informal meeting 'lets do something' versus a traditional date. I havent been on a 'date' since my 20's and I haven't had random Craigslist hookups.

But no seriously, in my case I've just never been on the typical restaurant and movie date. It was more like hang out at home and play video game date. Which isn't really a date.

Dating has definitely changed. I have been on a lot of 'first dates' with guys that I have already *ahem* been acquainted with in the past.

I don't think I have ever been asked out on a 'date', but yes, it has mostly been a casual hangout situation, but the subtext of this one definitely spells date as he mentioned that 'Brodie said you're looking good and I always thought you were alright'. Ahhh young romance.

I'm definitely the kind of person that does like going out to bars and coffee shops and in my hometown I am kind of one of those people (due to working in the industry) that knows the managers and barstaff of great places. I'm actually more worried that I'm going to be a bit intimidating to him as I suggested the hipster style place we're going to and he is more of a 'watching football, quads in the mud' kind of a guy.

I'm not a fan of the mason jars, they look cool when people instagram their drink photos I guess, but personally I think they're a pain to drink from. Just give me the bottle, any bottle, instead 😉

Did the date happen yet? Is it/was it a blind date, I couldn't tell.

I try to keep in mind on first dates (and follow-up dates) not to have any pre-conceived expectations of the other person. Well, expectations that they not commit a crime while on the date and things like that are of course fine, but I mean in terms of who they are. That might be more my problem (because I fell in love hard once and I tend to measure other women up to her standard if I'm not careful, which is unfair) but I think a lot of people fail to see what another person can offer because they have a list of things they expect of a possible boyfriend or whatever (I know, it's a first date, but lots of people can't help but think about it) and are inflexible about it.

A problem for a lot of people I've met is that they want someone else to conform too much to what they specifically have in mind for a partner. A little bit of adjusting and a small amount of conforming in a relationship is natural, but that should be reciprocal. But anyway, getting way ahead of myself, first date, right.

The date is tomorrow night. I will definitely give an update. Like a movie review.

I definitely have problems with measuring men up to my last serious boyfriend. I feel like after 9 months of not dating anyone though that I'm feeling ready to try and start seeing men as the people the way they are and not comparing them to others.
 
Hi, when you said about the football, was that footy or football imagine talking about the wrong one. If your going to compare a date to anyone pick a really bad one.
I would compare a date to my ex-wife, so they would seem really nice.
