Tueuse de Vampires
Love will tear us apart..
I was listening some old Russian kid's songs the other day, and one was about the first day of school, so I thought that would make a great topic!
Do you still remember your first day of school? Tell us about it! I thinks since we're all from different countries, and born in different decades, this will make a very interesting read!
My first day of school was in August 1995 in the city Essen in Germany. 100 days before school started, we got this sheet of paper handed out where you could see the school building and a lady bug for every day you still had to wait for school. It was just the outlinings of the lady bugs, so as a very excited, soon to be school kid, you could colour one lady bug every day, getting you even more excited for school.
On the actual day, us the new students went to school with our parents, all dressed up in fancy dresses and stuff like that. First, we went to the church right next to the school, where all the kids to come up to the front and were blessed by the vicar for success in school and everything. Then, we went back to the school and for a while just talked to the kids we knew from kidnergarden and our parents. Sadly for me, there was only one girl I actually knew from kindergarden. It had something to do with the fact that there were 2 school directly next to each other, one for catholics, and the other one for protestants, atheists and all the other religions.
Well, then at some point the children without the parents had to go up to their new class room. Of course I sat next to my friend from kindergarden. It was kinda funny, because our names sound really similar (I'm Kristine, her name is Kristina). Well, in the class room we basically just got acquainted to each other. I'm not really sure anymore, but I think we tried to write our own names on the board if we could already do it (which I could). Our first class day was just ilike 90 minutes max long, so we didn't really do anything else. We did get some homework in the end, we had to draw a picture of ourselves. Oh, I remember, I was so proud I had homework to do! And in general, I just felt so awesomely cool for being a school child!
After school I went home with my parents, where I just got loads and loads of presents. Really. What I remember the best is all that Barbie stuff I got from my relatives in Russia.
Remember the thread we had here a while ago where we posted childhood photos? One of those I posted back then was from my first day of school, so I looked for it and decided to post it again:

Uhm....I just realized I accidentally posted this somewhere where I really didn't mean to post it, so if anyone could be so kind and move it to Social Studies? 😀
