First impression of Buffy

What was your first impression of Buffy? Mine was that she wa a blond ditz. That lasted for like 2 seconds though. (talking about WTHM) The later in the episode she seemd so cool.

Wehn I first layed eyes on Buffy,I thought she was really silly and didn't really watch the 1st episode but was hooked in the end of the 2nd episode.I am glad I continued to watch it now because Sarah is my fav actress and Buffy is my fav show.

I absolutely loved the concept. I started watching during the 2nd season, but I had heard about it when it was still in it's 1st season and I wanted to watch it, but I didn't get the channel. Since the 2nd season, I've been addicted!
 
When I watched a few episodes here, there, and everywhere [mmm Seth mmmm] I thought Buffy the character was uh... *draws circles in the air by her ear* Airheaded might be the kindest term to be used. However that changed once I actually watched the show on a regular basis. 😉
 
Addicted from the word go! Having watched the film I expected it to be similar but, phew, it wasn't. Buffy was cool, not really an airhead, she was just wanted to be a teenage girl.😀
 
i agree with little bit, addicted form the start! i remeber it being advertised on sky one for a saturday night i remeber that becuase my nan used come over and babysit!
 
When I first saw her I thought that she was some new blonde who was silly and didnt care more than the way she looked but after my impression changed
 
My first impression of Buffy, is kinda what I think of Barbie. (no offence to Barbie fans) But, my first impression changed later in the episode.
 
I thought she was just a bit whiney at first, then not so much and then I grew to like her the more I watched. I liked Willow straight off from the start.
 
At first, I was "why are they making a tv show out of that stupid movie?" But, when I realized that they weren't going for camp, I was bitten(pun intended...hee...hee...)

I'm lovin' the pun, gman992. I'm ashamed to say it, but when I saw the first episode I thought it was stupid. Kind of like, 'This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen!' But now? <~~ Total addict. 😀
 
I agree with the general outlook of the thread, it was a gradual process for me but ultimately the shows wit and comic-book humour shone through"¦ thankfully. At the time i remember there wasn't much in the way of cult t.v either, as to why i think the many of us here became so passionate about such a single-handed distinction in mix. The show fused together such a broadband medium to it's viewers that I think it was almost impossible for anyone who did gave Buffy a second look, not to fall in love with it. Express many thanks to Joss, the cast and crew and, but of course imported American franchising in the UK... *cough* a good thing, no really. 😉
 
I just started watching this season (I know, I'm so terrible!) and my very first impression was that Buffy was an over-achiever who didn't appreciate what people did for her. This, of course, was based on the fact that Spike adored her and she didn't return his affections. I watched the show about twice and I was totally hooked. Since then, I have watched reruns of nearly the entire series on FX and UPN and borrowed tapes of some of the episodes from my friends and I have a chanegd opinion. 🙂 Buffy is a strong character who deals with everything that life throws at her from being the Slayer to Angel to, well, dying and being resurrected. She not only appreciates her friends but she loves them as family and would do anything to protect them.
 
I got in so late, and I never really had much impressions of the characters. I started watching in the episode where Riley leaves, and thought she was just a person dying to be normal. I never thought she was a ditz, just thought she was cool, I guess. Never really thought about it before...this one's a thinker for me.
 
When I first seen BTVS the series I thought it would be stupid-because there
was already the movie-BTVS inwhich starred Luke Perry(90210)-so here goes a whole new set of characters unknown,after watching a few episodes,I just fell ,caught,and totally captivated by

i was additcted from the word go, i started watching it from the very first episode and thought it was cool, at first i thought buffy was a bit of a divvy but then when i contiued watching it i was hooked and i began to like Buffy, now Sarah.M.G is one of my fave actresses and buffy is one of my fave shows.

This thread has been dead for awhile, but I want to get my two cents in.

I saw bits and pieces of the show years back and thought it seemed pretty damn campy, but I couple months back I realized that that was kind of the appeal. I began watching the show in syndication--in order--and I realized how amazing it really was. 'Buffy' is a story--not episode after episode--it has a coherence that when watched in order is a spectacular paradigm of television programming. It's not about the monsters, but the metaphors around them. The characters seem real, even though they are stuck in this strange universe. I quickly realized that the vampires and demons don't mean sh*t--they are merely backdrops for human drama. That's why science-fiction is such a wonderful genre--it creates a world of human plight where people must literally fight for their lives in the midst of greater threats. I am now addicted to the series--I've seen the entirity of it, several times over, and never tire of analyzing its profundity.
 
I thought that Buffy was a bit of a popular, dizzy, wierdo but then by the end of the 2nd episode- it kinda changed cause you got to see her real side/
