First Impressions

I was spoiled for most of both shows' run , which in retrospect I deeply regret, so there weren't so many surprises. There were at least two moments which were totally shocking and unexpected to me - Angel having his soul restored and being sent to hell, and Drusilla showing up to sire Darla at the end of "The Trial".

  • Angel pretending to be Angelus in "Enemies"
  • The restoration of Spike's soul
  • Joyce's sudden death
  • To be honest, at the beginning of season six, I thought the Buffybot was the real Buffy; that they had brought her back without explanation.
  • In "Doublemeat Palace," I definitely didn't expect the old lady who came in and purchased cherry pies every day to be housing a human-devouring alien under her wig.
  • Anya's death
  • Willow turning into Warren when she kissed Kennedy for the first time.

i heartily agree with pretty much everything said. the show was fantastic at creating suspense and surprise.

jesse being upgraded to "bait".

spike and dru killing off the annointed one got to me simply due to the fact the build up the character was getting...touting him as the big bad and then in comes spike and dru to show everyone who's really evil.

LOL @ cookie dough :)
For me the biggest was Illyria, because I'd missed 'A Hole in the World', so I was like, "why on earth is Fred blue? And why is she talking like that?"

MinwaraYana
Lol, that's funny. :D
I liked Anya's fuzziness with what was in fashion this decade. It was a better way of showing she'd lived for a long time than the stupid old "let's put the demon in period clothing" that is so often done.

Anyway, there were only really two things that made my jaw drop to the floor in sheer OMGerry.

Buffy: "Mom....mom.......mommy?"

Angel: After everything they've gone through in The Trial, to have Drusilla glide across the room at the end was both shocking and strangely terrifying. I loved it.
