First Look at BtVS Season 10

I'm not digging that bob Buffy's got.

It looks like Spike and Angel may be players. Interesting. How will that pan out? Here's to hoping Spike and Buffy will be together again, fighting side by side, what they do best...hoping Angel doesn't complicate that, though.

Hoping for exactly the opposite here. 😉 Maybe Spike can get his own mini-series, or at least a separate quest and will be out of Buffy's story for most of the season, hoping also to see Angel around Buffy soon and see them at least start talking again.

Since Angel & Faith got much better reviews than Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I'm not surprised Whedon felt the need to steal away Christos Gage and Rebekah Isaacs. Can't have the side-book upstaging the main title again, can we?

Yeah, I'm pissed.

I'm now expecting Angel's title to be as mediocre as Buffy's has been the past two seasons.

I already replied to you on the other thread, but I think it's way too early to make those assumptions.

I love the poster. It's totally badass and as the cheese I stand alone because I love Buffy's look! The hair is adorable and she looks strong and friggin cool! It's like seeing the Buffy I've always loved again <3 only grown up and better

So...is Buffy working with another vampire? Or is she setting her up for a fall? And is this the daywalking vamp we saw last season? I can't remember.

Maybe this is a Slayer that's been turned? Maybe a vampire who's soul has been returned? Magic is back, but we know that the rules are all way different. I'm actually excited about that.

I have to agree about Buffy. Most, if not all, of the readers of the comics are really pleased about Isaacs' taking over, but this panel does not inspire me with confidence.

I'm probably the only person who actually LOVES Jeanty's work, and I own a few original pieces of his, so I was really sad when I heard that he wasn't sticking around for S10. But in saying that, I did like what Isaacs' did on A&F and so I was excited to see what she was going to bring to Buffy's world. But this panel and the poster that came out a few months back...her Buffy just looks terrible. Too old, too tall, too...not Buffy. Yeah, she's older now, but she's not 40. Story-wise, she's not even 30, and here she looks so much older than that.

And, I know, Jeanty has said it many times, he was asked to draw BUFFY NOT SMG, but still, to me, his Buffy was still recognizable as Buffy. Take the Scythe and the Vampyr book away from these images...that's just not Buffy to me.

I agree, if you took away the extras from Jeantys Buffy you could still tell it was Buffy, this Buffy looks way off!

I think this is a normal vampire, but they are taking out Zompires. We saw zompires trying to take out that vampire in the last issue, so maybe they try and kill vampires too?

I hope vampires and Buffy team up and take out all zompires, just so we never have to see that word again!

I'm going to give Isaacs a chance. It takes awhile to settle into a character, Jeantry himself spoke about how it took several issues for him to get his Buffy right. Isaacs had a similar easing in period with Angel. She's too good an artist for me to think she won't get Buffy right.

I was pretty disappointed with Isaacs' work on A&F to be honest, I liked her DV8 much more. Still, let's give her a chance.

Biggest problem in my opinion - Isaacs' Buffy doesn't look attractive. And I know, she's older, a grown woman, not a teenager anymore, it makes sense to not wear high heels and a mini skirt when fighting monsters and you know what, I don't care. Buffy is supposed to be hot - tight body, hair porn, designer clothes, tasteful objectification. Sex appeal is a vital part of what makes Buffy Buffy.

On the other hand I know that look. It's Willow look circa season 4 ( for the record, I think it looked great on Willow but than again, when you look like Willow you look great in everything ) Characters cosplay as each other on BtVS quite a lot but Buffy is too conscious about her look to dress like that unconsciously, unless she has a reason. I don't know. I dislike the hair. Buffy generally cuts her hair when she doesn't feel OK. Hey, maybe she'll kill herself again? <mischievous grin>

And, I know, Jeanty has said it many times, he was asked to draw BUFFY NOT SMG, but still, to me, his Buffy was still recognizable as Buffy.

Seems counterproductive to me, especially since the covers use Gellar's likeness most of the time. I'll never understand the comics industry, it's like they do everything to keep people from buying their crap.

Story-wise, she's not even 30

We kinda don't know, who knows how long season 8 and 9 were? There's no official timeline. She's might be 27, she might be 30 already. But yeah, 40 she is not.

I have to disagree. I've been rewatching Buffy with my 9 year old and we're mid season 2 and there are definitely times when Buffy does not look very good. I mean, really not good. OK, so SMG always looks good, but I think you know what I mean. They make a point to contrast her at times with Charisma Carpenter. But that's the nature of the Slayer gig. I do understand what you're saying though, and the comics are a bit different, since we get a limited # of pages monthly compared to the minutes we have with Buffy on-screen. But, as others have said, I'm willing to see what happens. BTW, I didn't dislike Jeanty, there were times I really, really liked him, and times I didn't. But let's be honest: in general in season 8 the art was all about the Jo Chen covers!! Damn, I wish we could get her back.

That's true, however I think that Buffy always cares about how she looks. She looks terrible in season 7 too, in my opinion, because of weight loss but she still cares, she is still pretty much obsessed with her look and with the impression she makes and she continues to do so in the comics. Isaacs' Buffy looks like she doesn't care anymore and just dresses in practical and comfy clothes, and that's perfectly fine but it's also a huge development. It means that Buffy's finally done with her high school cheerleader persona. And...when did that happen?

I have to say, I do NOT like these, especially the Faith cover. She looks like Cordelia from one of the old 90's comics.

My first thought: "Is that CORDELIA?!"
Little confused on if I like these, lol.

I had no clue who was in the first one, assumed it was Faith based off the weapons, but your right Lyri, it looks like Cordelia more then anyone.

But the reason I'm conflicted is, I actually like the style as a general comic book style

The Angel one I dont really like, is Angel in vampire face?

The Faith one reminds me of one of those really old cartoon shows, from the 60's or something. I just don't like the style of it, and it's just not Faith. She's not wearing clothes that Faith would wear, she has long fingernails, which Faith NEVER had, and she's got Charisma's freaking birthmark on her face!!

Unless this is a MAJOR spoiler for what's happening this season, I think Samnee got his wires crossed somewhere.

Think that's just one of the black specs that seem to be coming off whatever she's fighting.
I'm quite stoked to see what Christos Gage and Rebekah Isaacs can do with the Buffy book.

The Angel & Faith book is more of an unknown. I thought Victor Gischler's Spike miniseries last season was pretty forgettable, but he has a very strong reputation in both comics and novels. He's used to writing his own characters, though, so I'm hoping he can get the voices right.

I actually like those. I understand the criticisms though. But I do like the style, they're quite unique. The Angel one reminds me slightly of the IDW comics.

Victor Gischler's Spike miniseries was pretty terrible but I'm not sure if that was his fault, after all he had to put it between Spike leaving Buffy after she rejected him for the second or third time and then his turning up in Angel.
The plot was pretty damn thin, so I'm hoping for something better if this guy's got a whole season (30 Issues?) to play with.
As for Buffy, it'd be nice to see her meet up with Faith again, ask about Angel, find out Faith was doing the mentor thing to some slayers.
I wonder if Willow mentioned any of that to Buffy?
