So, since there is already a general Tillow topic and this is definitely my other favorite Buffy ship, I thought I'd make this topic.

Like the Willow/Tara thread, this is just about various Fuffy-related questions and opinions. Anyone can ask them of course but I figure I'd post a few just to get the ball rolling.

When did you start supporting Fuffy?

Do you think it be a short term thing or could it work in the long run?

I'll start then with my own answers.

When did you start supporting Fuffy?

Once I started visiting Buffy message boards, I became a lot more interested in character relationships. None so intrigued me as Faith and Buffy. I must have been blinder than I actually am to not have seen how close they were.

Do you think it be a short term thing or could it work in the long run?

It depends. S3 Faith could never hope to hold down a stable long term relationship but by Season 7 I think she could handle it. She's matured a lot.
The real problem is Buffy... Then again, Faith isn't a man. Maybe that's the solution to Buffy's problems with dating.

The problem with being special is a feeling of isolation. No matter how close everyone is to you, they're not like you. Faith and Buffy are both Slayers and they were very close back when there weren't dozens of them. They will always have a special bond that connects them I think. This heals up the old wounds of isolation they both have.

There's also the fact they play off each other's complexes. Buffy with her massive ego and Faith with her low self-esteem. Hopefully they can balance each other out.

To conclude, I made a little video in support of Fuffy. I tried to make it at least watchable. It's a collection of scenes and quotes that I feel prove this couple is more than some non-canon fantasy pairing. It is just as legitimate as any other ship.

I just want to say thatuntil I made my little Fuffy evidence video, I completely overlooked how relevant "This Year's Girl" was. Now of course the coma dreams, fixating on Buffy and all, were important but the real gem is in Faith's impassioned dialogue with Joyce.

The words she chose to use are very significant.

Faith: You think you matter, you think you're a part of something and you get dumped.

[Buffy] was over [me] a long time ago Too busy climbing onto her new boytoy to give a single though to the people that matter.
(swapped the "us" with "me" because Faith is really getting worked up over Buffy being over her)

"Dumped", being "over" her, all very intimate words easily identified with dating or romance.

Then there's the fact that, while Faith was working herself up into a state this whole time, the thing that really set her off was the last bit.

She insisted that she should matter and mean more to Buffy than Buffy's boyfriends.

When I first watched that scene in Graduation Day, where they share the dream and then Buffy kisses Faith. I had noticed the subtext prior to that, but that is the point where their whole tragic love story hit me, and I became a shipper.

Do you think it be a short term thing or could it work in the long run?

I think that it could last forever - though it would have to overcome an awful lot of issues before it could possibly blossom. I imagine it would start like a fling and, provided they don't kill each other in the first month, then the two of them would slowly start to reveal deeper feelings and love would grow.

I think the two of them strike a perfect balance. Faith would help Buffy "find the fun" and "uncork her bottle". Buffy needs to unwind, and Faith is the ideal person to help her do that. Most importantly, Faith can see the good side of being a slayer. Buffy focuses on the isolation and responsibility, but Faith points out that they are "hot chicks with superpowers" - that being a slayer isn't all bad. Meanwhile, Buffy can ground Faith, help her to be more responsible and open about her emotions. I think that Buffy is caring enough to soothe Faith, but also strong enough to not take any of her crap either.

Above all, I truly believe that Faith was very much in love with Buffy, and most of her actions stemmed from the feeling of being rejected by her - if Buffy finally let her in, Faith would gain a feeling of being accepted and loved, which would surely help her become more stable and happy.

Hm, I'm not even sure if it was when I first saw season 3, or when I joined the boards and started talking to Fran about season 3.

I'm gonna answer these two together. I don't see them dating exactly. I think Faith and Buffy have amazing chemistry and they're super hot together. But I don't see them in a relationship. I see them hooking up, being awkward, hooking up, having drama, being friends, fighting, hooking up... and I think that's how it'll go on. It'll never really end so it will be a long "relationship", but I think it would constantly change and I never see them being a couple-couple.

I don't know. I think it might have been when I arrived on fanboards and starting actually thinking about the two as a couple and looking into the subtext. I think they're kind of cute. Though I wouldn't say they are my offical ship but I do appreciate them.

As as been stated, it varies. It could have never been a long run thing during the 3rd season. Faith was too flighty and immature for that kind of thing. She couldn't have stuck around for more than a one night stand I don't think. But during Season 7 it might have been more probable as a long-term.

The two would balance each other out because they are both very different. While Buffy always seems somewhat carefree and slack on most fronts, when Faith came along we realized that Buffy takes it more seriously than it would seem. Faith would help Buffy get over the serious-ness every once and awhile and find fun in what she does instead of whining about it and Buffy would teach Faith a few life lessons about taking things seriously and how to treat your friends. They would both teach each other something that they didn't know.

I'm not an entirely huge fan of Fuffy, but I do ship them. I'm in the process of writing a Fuffy fic and I have a lot more appreciation for them as a couple. Anyhoo...here are my answers

I always thought watching them together on screen was pretty hot. lmao Other than that, I thought Buffy was more in her best element with Faith. Faith brought Buffy out of her shell a little so yeah. I guess I supported them from the beginning, but it wasn't until now that i'm starting to ship them hardcore.

I can see it working out in the long run, with many pot holes in the middle. Ermmm..Let me try to explain... I look at Fuffy like I look at Spuffy. Still don't get what I mean? Nevermind, I'll try and explain later.

They pretty much fill each others empty spaces. Faith is the daring and exciting one, where Buffy is the boring one lmao. They kind of cancel each other out in the negative areas, and form this perfect relationship. Buffy could have helped Faith fill in the holes in her heart, by providing a sort of family within the scoobies, which was already starting to happen. Faith could share her street smarts with Buffy so that she may be able to have more resources in fighting the demons and what not.

I think i'm going to come back later and clarify on this...not happy with the answers I gave since i'm half asleep hahaha

But feel free to post your own questions or the like. One can never stop refining their opinion and views on something after all. I'd love to answer some questions from other people.

In the meantime though, I'll just ask a simpler question. What are your favorite Fuffy quotes? This could be them talking to each other or talking about one another. Either one works.

Oddly, whenever I try to think of Fuffy quotes, I come up mostly blanks. I can think of tons of my favourite moments, but they all seem to be subtle, visual things more than quotes. Like the kiss in GD, the heart on the window or the dancing. Neither of them were very open about their feelings, I mostly read it from the looks they shared more than the words.

My question, just out of interest, is this: How much of a Fuffy shipper are you? Are you a hardcore shipper or just casual? How does your love for Fuffy compare to your other ships, both from the Buffyverse and from other fandoms?

For me, I love Fuffy. They are my second-favourite ship in the Buffyverse (the first being Cangel), and my fourth or fifth favourite from all fandoms.

Well that depends. I guess you could say I'm "hardcore" int hat I am determined to believe it and to help others believe it too.
On the flipside, I don't insult other ships and I don't look for proof of their relationship where it doesn't exist.
I like to think I'm free of Shipping Goggles.

How does your love for Fuffy compare to your other ships, both from the Buffyverse and from other fandoms?

In terms of Buffyverse ships, it is most certainly my OTP. I love Tillow but they're well documented and proven. Fuffy needs the people like us to spread the Good Word. 🙂

As for other ships, it's probably up there in importance. I ship a lot but most of the series I watch/read aren't as heavy on romance as Buffy. So while I ship, say, some people from Resident Evil, it doesn't compare to Buffy because the latter's characters and their interactions are so much more intriguing and well-explored.

I like the ship. The thought of it is extremely hot. I'm not a hardcore shipper though because we don't know how it would have developed on screen.

I'm a firm believer in the fact that Faith had feelings for Buffy though.

Finally, my third annoyance is that, when I try to spread the word of Fuffy elsewhere, I'm told that I'm just some horny nerd.

I am a horny nerd but I don't ship them because of that. In fact I really don't like porn fics with the two of them. I love Fuffy for their chemistry, for the passionate romance that was just under the surface.

I was so impressed with Nikkolas' video because it gives clear examples of Fuffy in the show, that I want to highlight a section out of this following video, to add more examples. Pretty much as soon as the writers started to explore Faith's character and gave us some key Fuffy scenes. Coming for dinner in Amends, the end conversation in Revelations. Just the small moments when she would let her guard down with Buffy which showed how vulnerable she really was.

In Season 3, however sexy not much gain for either. Always been a firm believer Faith was in love with Buffy, but initially it wasn't a mature enough love to last and even if Buffy had loved her back I just feel Faith would've too easily lost herself in the relationship, alot like the S6 Spuffy dynamic. Like with the Mayor, younger Faith was not only capable of extreme loyalty to anyone who returned her love but extreme anger to the ones who rejected it. By Season 7, Faith is a much more mature character and I can see them having a very healthy relationship where they both could gain alot from each other.

Season 7 onwards, definitely long run! Even though it's only in fanfics there's something that could become very cute and domestic about them without losing the sexuality that's never far from Fuffy.

Okay, I supported Fuffy for as long as I can remember? I'm not really good with dates, but it was sometime in the middle of S5. I was good friends with some peeps from a long-ago board and they introduced me to the idea of Fuffy...and it just made sense.

As for the last question, Fuffy always has staying power. Always.
