I just re watched these 2 episodes and refound my love for Faith and Angel. I think their interactions are some the most thought out in the whole season. Their relationship has so has much potential (which is why im really excited about their comic 😀) The way they are mirrored completely and Angel cant help but try and get her back on track.

Especially the end scene of five by five Eliza's acting is amazing always brings a tear to my eye.

Of corse the only downside to this is sanctuary when they destroy part of my Buffy love 🙁 telling Angel that she loves someone else just to hit back I feel was horrible writing... but apart from that 🙂

So yer this was all my post was really praising the best episodes from the season 😀

I felt like these are two of the best episodes especially five by five. I kind of wish though that Buffy wasn't there because like you said Angel and Faith have so much potential and really mirror each other. I guess it was good because Faith finally told her how it was for her but overall I wish she wasn't there.

Ah now thinking about this I've come to well a conclusion that seems to be rattling my brain.

Faith and Angel do have so much potential together and it would seem that they would work out since there nature to stab and kill things would link them up.

I could even see Faith being with Spike since well those two would just be going buck while in a fight!

To me Buffy the Vumpire Slayer would have been a lot better if Buffy had some of her traits as well as Faiths traits since unlike Faith, Buffy hasn't suffered as much as she has and was able to do those while and out things unlike her counterpart slayer.

But back to the subject Faith should have been able to have a go with Angel as well as Spike cause I just feel it would have been right!

I've always thought these were two of Angels best episodes, and I've found Faith to be a truly fascinating character. A few people have mentioned that Sanctuary was almost spoiled by including Buffy, and I agree with this. Not only does Buffy's appearance nearly wreck Faith's recovery it also undermines some of the events in Who are you. When Faith and Buffy switch bodies, I've always found that this was Faith's true turning point which was fully realized at the end of Five by Five. I also think that they Buffy was treated by the Watchers' Council spec ops team, gave her at least a little insight into just how hard Faith's life was.

the reason i didnt really like Buffy showing up was because she wanted revenge and was out for blood..which would be understandable..if it wasnt for her line at the end of 'who are you' were she comes to the realization of why Faith did what she did. she knew it wasnt for fun and she almost look to understand in a way then she turned up in Angel all RARRR and taking cheap shots. I also think it did Riley no favours her using the 'I love him' as a way to hurt Angel..

Angel and Faith are fun to watch together. They relate to each other because they are both trying to do good, but have this evil side of them trying to peak out. I couldn't ever see anything romantic/sexual coming out of it, though. I do enjoy when Faith makes her appearances because they play off each other well and have good chemistry.

They see each other as saving graces. If redemption is possible for her, then it is for him and vice versa. I really enjoy their scenes together.

As for Buffy in Sanctuary... That first meeting after the events of IWRY was bound to be disastrous but I think it was necessary. Buffy has been and always will be a driving factor in Angel's life and his pursuit of redemption. He left Sunnydale to give Buffy a chance at a "normal life" but in the process found his footing and the right path for him. She needed to see him living it out, and Faith was a part of that.

I enjoy the Angel/Faith relationship. It has the same kind of chemistry as he and Buffy had but in a more platonic, Yin and Yang way that benefits them both exponentially.

I love these episodes. These are the episodes that really made me start wondering about Faith and Angel and thinking about them as a couple and what might happen if they hooked up.
I think they make wonderful friends and a great team, and I'm completely fine if they never become a couple, but I also think they would be an amazing and beautiful couple, too.,

Five by Five is definitely my favourite ep of season 1, if not the whole series. It's a great example of what the show stands for, and what they were trying to achieve, and it's pulled off perfectly. And I think Eliza doesn't get enough credit as an actress.

Just watched these episodes today for the first time (I know...) and they're great. I was sorry for Wesley because after Faith tortured him, Angel didn't do anything with that. Only told Faith that Wesley need to be apoligized.

I hate Angel & Buffy together. Apart, those characters are good but together are so irritating. Too less Cordelia for me but maybe she couldn't make a necessary part for this storyline.

Gosh, this show becomes more and more great! 😀

I just watched these eps with my sister a few wks ago...they are 2 of our favs. Eliza just takes over any scene she's in, she always amazes me no matter how many times I've seen these eps. These are the eps when we get to see her at what I feel are her lowest points on either show & the scene in the rain at the end of "Five By Five" is beyond amazing. I still cry every time & I really connect with how Faith is feeling.

I loved these episodes too. I remember at the time I was hoping they might make Faith an Angel regular. She seemed to fit better on that show, having very complex relationships with both Angel and Wes.

These two episodes rank among my favourite ever Angel episdoes, along with some of the Darla ones in Season 2. I love both Faith and Darla as powerful female characters! But yes, the fight scene at the end is EPIC and I love every scene that Faith is in - she is awesome and Eliza does such a great job of depicting so many aspects of Faith's character!!

🙂

Totally, totally agree!! "Sanctuary" is my favorite episode of the season, and I felt like even though I love Buffy, she kinda ruined the episode a little. You get the drama, but I wasn't looking for drama; just some truly beautiful and emotional moments between Faith and Angel.

Man these epis were awesome! The interaction between Angel and Faith is great. I love how he wanted to support her and get her back on track. I immediately thought of series 8 and how it ends up being the exact opposite. When she broke down in Angel's arms, that was great television. And Buffy was SO annoying (which is strange, because I hardly think bad things about her).

Five by Five is one of my favorite episodes in AtS and I think Eliza was great in every appearance in the show. I watched the scene of the fight with the two ot them, first in the flat, and then in the alley breathless. Faith dropping in Angel's arms crying "kill me", and Angel soft answer... it was amazing and really, really touching.

I hated Buffy, though. She was petty and cruel and hurt Angel intentionally and coldly. Worse, without a reason. She was jealous and wasn't titled to it. Hell, she had Riley and, after few months went with Parker, while Angel was alone in his dark office with her picture in his hands. I really hated Buffy after Sanctuary.
