Recently i've been having some issues and am being tested for allergies and intolerance to wheat, gluten and dairy.

I'm on my second week of cutting it out and am feeling slightly better. I've done the switch to soya milk and yoghurt, wheat and gluten free bread. I never really realised how many foods contain wheat and gluten and it is starting to be a pain especially finding last minute snacks.

Does anyone here suffer from the same? How easy is it when you eat out?

I can live with giving most things up as long as I can have my peanut butter.

Just ouf of curiousity, which episode is that scene from, that's on your banner?
There's a LOT of things I can't eat. Like meat and fast food and spicey foods and dairy. I've been diagnosed with a uncureable condition pretty recently and all of these things are things that make my symptoms worse for me. I was a vegan for many years and think a lot of the soyproducts are tasty so that's fine, but I really miss cheese. I eat it sometimes anyway though. Usually not a good idea 😀

Eating out is allright. I order vegan food. Sometimes the food is bleh, sometimes it's amazing. It's usually more difficult if I'm in a small town.

Oh no so sorry to hear about your diagnosis!
I spent 10 years intolerant to lactose. Back in the day it was a nightmare and the vegan option was always the best when eating out. Lactose is in almost everything from crisps to gravy!! It's a nightmare cutting it out and also if your lactose intolerant you are normally intolerant to msg as well. Which is even more of a nightmare. Thankfully after having my daughter everything changed and I am now ok with lactose and msg, but those that have intolerances I feel for you.

I do but I think the food company's are diffrent in the USA than Scotland. I would dry online though. Norma;;y they have online stores for food allergies and intolences. And see if Living Without magazine is avalible where you are. You can PM me if you want more help.🙂

My brother has a total intolerance to aluminium, that doesn't sound to bad does it? Until you try and think how many foodstuff come in an aluminium can.
Me, well, stuff like banana's and porridge which are supposed to be high in fibre have the opposite effect on me, they are as bad as cheese; they cause me to be constipated. In fact most foodstuffs cause me stomach problems. My diet consists of 8 or 10 slices of bread a day, 200 gms of crap food (chippies etc), and enough coffee to cause most people problems, my high sugar content is my energy source..
Apart from those few minor things I'm ok.

I'm lucky as I don't really have any food intolerance. I feel a bit gross when I eat too much bread so I've cut it out for the most part, but it doesn't make me ill or anything.

I'd hate to be intolerant or be on a special diet though as I don't tend to give what I'm eating much thought.

I'm not allergic to any food but Im allergic to Aspartame the artificial sweetner they use in diet soda, sugarfree gum , etc. Which is annoying.

I'm not allergic to any food, but I'm allergic to every nice thing that Spring brings...like flowers, grass, hay... 😛

Oh and this winter I had some weird allergic manifestation (red and itchy) around my wrists and behind my knees 🙁 my doctor gave me a cortisone cream to put on when it shows up and I have to take a test in september. I really hope it's not food related. Both my mom and uncle have the same problem with some kind of soaps, and I hope it's the same for me...at least I can wear gloves! 🙂

I'm intolerant to wheat and dairy, I can eat a little bit of dairy which helps when eating out but I usually have to pay for it in one way or another later 😉

What I found most difficult was cutting out wheat, partly because a lot of nummy things seem to contain wheat (a lot!), but by now it's been years and I live on a mainly protein based diet (it was much harder when I was a vegetarian I might add) so I don't really think too much about it anymore, in other words, it does get easier. It's always a bit of a challenge eating out though but it's not impossible to work around.
Every now and then I give myself a treat whoever, allowing myself to eat it, I always get sick - really sick - so it's never a good idea and I suppose that's why by now I look at most wheat based products with revulsion, it just makes me think of that sick feeling... so I suppose that might be what makes it easier to stay away from it automatically in the end 😉

I'm allergic to melons. I developed an allergy after my son was born, and the reactions I've had to melons have gotten progressively worse and worse. Watermelon, cantalope, and honeydew are all off the menu for me. They are some of my favorite fruits too 🙁. I guess I shouldn't complain, some of you have it a lot worse than me!!!!!

I miss cantalope especially though.

I am lucky not to be allergic to any foods. My nephew, on the other hand, is allergic to beef, eggs, peanuts, and wheat. That cuts a LOT of foods off his menu, which sucks for my sister (and him, obviously).
