Food you didn't like when you were young?

We had a boarding house mistress who made awful bok choy. I went right off it for years. I only started using it again when looking for rabbit food. Not nearly as bad as that silly old bat made it. One day she threatened me with a butter knife for refusing to eat it 😂

Love Bok Choy. My hubby makes great variations of it (there are several kinds and he has several recipes)
I realised reading these posts is that my brain loves lots of different foods but the smell of strong flavours makes me gag sometimes. This realisation hit me when I was in Portugal and it was an all inclusive restaurant. There was so much delicious food but the concentration of flavours and smells would make me feel ill. Which meant, that even with all the options I had, I ended up with the blandest foods (bread, potatoes, salad - maybe some cheese if feeling adventurous. Jelly was my choice of dessert too, as it's easy on the stomach). If I eat something that has a strong flavour I will end up feeling queasy, even if I'm enjoying it. Does anyone else have this problem?

How about flip it? When I was young I liked Mexican... but now it's like Mexicant. Can't even stand to smell it. Also Chinese is close to becoming Chinope.

Pancakes. I had periods as a child when I wanted nothing but pancakes. I'm kind of sick of them now, but my sister gets queasy if you even mention pancakes because she never wanted them to begin with.

At least she's not eating them all of the time now and forcing you to smell them. You must have been a peach back in the day. Forcing your sister to endure the smell of TaakeCakes.
Tinned carrots, at one point they were the only veg I would eat, now no chance, too soft and horrible!

Those ARE horrible! Carrots should NOT melt in your mouth LOL
We used to have to eat a raw carrot before we got our dinner as kids. Even the dog got sick of carrots. I would often find half a carrot between the couch cushions when I would clean. Sneaky sister. And then I had horses... and spent weekends in places with nothing edible but juicing carrots and horse feed. Now I have rabbits who love carrots. I am SO sick of carrots. But I still eat them. Maybe habit, maybe cos the bunnies are cute when they share.
