And numerous amounts Potentials(which can either be seen good or bad depnding on how much you liked season 7)

I just recently thought about that and thought it was very ironic him being a feminist in all.

it's because the only guys he didn't kill off at one point were Giles and Xander, and then there'd be WAY to much estrogen for one show ;)
True, but he really didn't have that many male characters in the scheme of things.

Plus the majority of prominent male characters had respect for the women in their lives, even if they didn't show it sometimes.

You think it's ironic because the definition of feminism is "someone lets all female characters survive the TV show"? Or maybe "someone who kills off more male characters than female ones"?

Joss' female characters are powerful, brave and strong. They're just as smart "“ or smarter "“ than any male character on the show. Men and women are equal fighters and equally moral human beings. The character of Buffy is a strong, realistic female superhero in a male dominated field "“ if you count superheroness a line of work. etc etc etc.

My point is, Joss identifies as a feminist and is trying his best to create feminist shows. There are things that can be criticized (randomly enough are me and Joamna planning a podcast about this) "“ but imo, the female vs. male death count isn't one.

I wasnt quesioning Joss's feminism I was just merely saying that its ironic that one who exutes these qualities most of his female cast are dead. No doubt that each who died were strong and fought for their cause but someone who would be masogynsytic would enjoy the killing off of the majority of these strong female characters.
 
I'm not sure that a misogynist creator of film/tv would create female characters who are strong, powerful and brave like most female characters are in BtVS. Joss created a set of hot chicks with superpowers who are capabale of fighting and dying just as any male character in any show. I'm not sure I understand where you find the irony in all this.
 
Ok eponinethen and doppleganger i think you misinteperted my statement and to mee you make it seem like im trying to come off as someone who is questioning Joss and his views on Feminism or the very strong females he creates. What im merely trying to say is that i had a thought about Buffy and Angel promote feminism and it dwelled on me that a majority of female characters are dead. I foun humor in this because someone who is misogynistic would find joy in death of such females as oppose to someone like Joss who obviously isnt for misogny as shown in a figure like Caleb or the episode of Angel Billy. This was erely a thought i ha which i thought was ironic and i dint mean for it to be mis interperted in any way.
 
Except Joss doesn't just kill off female characters. He kills off characters.

Spike
Doyle
Wes
Drogyn
Wash
Gunn (Possibly)

If he didn't kill off female characters, it would have been almost like saying their characters weren't worthy of the drama afforded the killed off male characters. Joss is about the school of feminism that requires equality, not special treatment.
